  1. Fluoro isn't just for sensitivy. It is the most abrasion resistant and if you slow roll spinnerbaits in rip rap like myself, you will need that quality. Fluoro also has great breaking strength to diameter ratio. I like to use Sunline Super Fluorocarbon and FC Sniper. I use it in 16lb test for everything except flipping, jerkbaits, and topwater. I step up to 20lb test for flip, pitch, and punch. I use mono or copoly for jerkbaits and topwater. But I have fluorocarbon on every setup except one.
  2. Way to end the season! I ended mine with a 27" Northern Pike on a KVD 1.5
  3. Done, that's a ton of work for 140 bucks! I hope I win!
  4. I've held a few and they feel nice for sure. They are a little tip heavy but I like that in my rods. It sure will look nice with the Chronarch since they are both white.
  5. Yes, try to find it at a closeout price though.
  6. I own a original Carrot Stix, (Not the micro guide) and it is a good rod for sure. I find it hypocritical that you judge the carrot stix by the bad rap they receive here when the mojo bass gets just as bad if not worse rap here, yet you still like them. Every rod will perform different for each owners specific situation.
  7. Just picked up a Curado 200E7 from Gander Mtn for $130 in store yesterday. Still happy to say that the only reels I own are Shimanos.
  8. Obviously rain water and lake water are different, we didn't need you to tell us that. He isn't even sure that the reel was under water and if it was it was for half a second. I do believe that if it was under water for a longer period of time that you should get it taken care of by a professional like DVT but in this case it is not needed.
  9. Yeah I just can't believe they could make it this light for this cheap of a price without giving it a weak structural support. Or whoever made this reel is just a fishing guru. Either way, most likely I will be buying one but will have to experiment with it to decide which setup to put it on.
  10. I will be picking up one of these after I get my BPS gift card for xmas. Think this is strong enough to handle the hard hooksets when punching or should I use the BPS on my plastics rod and put my brand new Curado 200E7 on my punching rod?
  11. Do what rip said. I personally haven't had much luck on them either. Try using the Gamakatsu Superline EWG Weighted Hook 1/8oz 3/0. You can perform this from shore too. Just toss it out there and let it sink. Let it sit on the bottom for a few seconds then twitch it back a few times. Then repeat! Good luck, I wish I could fish but the lakes are freezing over in Michigan.
  12. I would also suggest a gift card. It is hard to know what he might like if we don't know what techniques he uses and all the equipment he has now.
  13. I currently don't have a true topwater sestup but right now I use my 6'6" MH/F Bps Extreme for my Sammys, Spooks, and wake baits.
  14. Many techniques will work well with this rod.
  15. I have never had a problem with wet reels either. I think you might need to lubricate the spool bearing and shaft at most. A noise is prevalent on almost all reels though so don't worry about it.
  16. Depends on your price range but at a little over $100, St Croix makes the Premier Glass which is a great rod in that price range and above. I also like the old Lamiglass Skeet Reese blanks.
  17. He is in Mexico so sending it to DVT would be costly. I think you should find a schematic for your reel and maybe watch a few videos of experts disassembling reels.
  18. I am in the same boat. I ordered mine in october and they are on backorder until January.
  19. Take a look at the Powell Max, Shimano Crucial and the Phenix Recon.
  20. You can do a lot with a 7' MH rod and I have heard good things about the camo stix. They only don't have a 7' MH after checking the website. I am suprised you don't use topwater as I heard they are killer in Mexico. Maybe you could use it for topwater baits. But like I said you can use it for almost anything besides big swimbaits and deep cranks. Good luck!
  21. Glad I was able to sell my spinning extreme before they brought these down. I actually like the powerhump for bigger baits.
  22. I entered and hope I win!
  23. Great review, if I didn't have 2 rods without reels already I'd buy one myself!
