Imho, I'd get the 998 or 1199 (I have both). At $1500 I'd save a few hundred more and get the 1199 If you don't want to do that the 998 is a great unit!

I think the Blue is a hideously ugly rod but it doesn't have a finish on the blank so it should be more sensitive...

And what about abrasion on a thinner line? I'm not sure I see the benefits.

Me and the Wife and another couple are going to stay at the Cat House in Eureka on March 7. If we find a place we like I can go check it out for us... If we stayed at Spider what cabin or cabins are you thinking? I'm still thinking hotels will be the way to go, everyone gets a bed and 2 people/ bathroom and would cost around $65 per person for the weekend. I don't know about everyware else but Thurman's doesn't charge a deposit to reserve a room and you can cancel your reservations free of charge if you do it within 24/hrs of your stay. This may be the norm for the area I don't know?
