Hello. I live in Bangor, Maine (which is in central Maine). I'm 42 years old and have been fishing since I was a small boy (mostly for white perch). I haven't caught many bass, though I'm happy to catch anything that takes my bait. The waters I've fished contain perch, bass (mostly smallmouth and a few largemouth), pickerel, and the occasional trout or salmon. I do not get to fish as much as I'd like. I live in the city and rent a small apartment. I do not have a boat (nowhere to store it and no way to tow/transport it) and I do not know where to find publicly accessible fishing areas such as boat docks or public shorelines.
In addition, I am physically disabled with a permanent spinal cord injury that results in limited use of my legs, and this limits the areas I can fish. I am able to drive a specially-equipped car and I am able to climb in and out of a boat (for example if I'm visiting family or friends that have a boat). I can fish from shore in my camp chair, but only if there's a public boat dock or if the terrain is mostly flat and easy to navigate. I am not able to navigate steep or rocky terrain, and I am not able to walk long distances (I can only walk perhaps a few city blocks, and I cannot stand up for long periods of time).
I would like to fish the Penobscot River or any lakes/rivers/ponds that are near my location in central Maine, if anyone knows of any easily accessible public docks/shorelines/parks where I could do so.
My gear consists of a fishing backpack with some Plano trays of tackle and various tools/accessories, a St. Croix Mojo Bass 7' medium spinning rod, a St. Croix 7'1" Mojo Bass medium-heavy casting rod, and a St. Croix 7' Panfish series light spinning rod. My spinning reels are Shimano Sahara, and my baitcaster is an Abu Garcia C4-5600. I have a fairly small collection of various sizes of lures (Yamamoto worms and grubs, some inline spinners, and some Rapala crankbaits/jerkbaits, plus some small tackle for panfish).
If anyone has any advice about where I could fish from public docks/shores in or around Bangor / central Maine, I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
