  1. Is this for real? a micro chip in a bass lure? I guess it's just a matter of time before we have TV camera installed baits that we can connect to an app on our smart phone. Does anyone else think this Livingston eps is hyped up crap, or are there bassers out there actually falling for this drek.
  2. I totally get this. Being focused to the point where all else ceases to exist is how I fished for many many years. these days I still get excited when i'm going out on the water. I still spend loving hours sharpening hooks, cleaning reels, tying leader etc. But the "need" to catch is less. I want to catch, and I love to catch, but I used to go into a semi depression if I didn't. Now? nah
  3. Big baits = Big bass except when they don't
  4. Yeah, horny toads work real well for me. I like to buzz em alongside the weedline then kill em at a pocket. It can be deadly at times
  5. Just goes to show you the quality of that fishery. What you call slow days would be days to die for for a lot of the guys on this forum, especially the up north bassers.
  6. I'm really glad I posted this. so many great replies. Catt is the bard of Toledo bend. Youse guyz is da best
  7. Only a total lameass would demand to know your fishing spot. I like to ask people what they caught it on, but never where.
  8. If you know your going to buy a bps rod, I would think the guy who works that dept. should be helpful. I would also browse the online catalogue and carefully read the descriptions
  9. Seems fine to me
  10. I like to keep my reels clean at all times. I'll put a drop of oil on the bearings every couple of times out. I find that keeps them pretty much in good condition. I don't take my reels apart but send them to be serviced when I detect some roughness, or they just haven't been serviced in a few years. I use braid with Berkley big game as a leader. I change the leader often but only change out the braid when it starts looking really sorry
  11. Beautiful#!! which topwater did you use?
  12. He He He......Sneaky sneaky yes?
  13. Yes, by all means demo demo demo. But remember it's not just how the yak is IN the water. You also have to get it TO the water. I think a good starter boat is a perception, they are not cheapies but why would you want crap? they are also not 'high end' just a good solid angling worthy kayak that will do a no frills job. There are many good kayaks for bass fishing but I would include perception in my search. Jackson cuda, and hobie are great yaks. Also look at Wilderness and Ocean kayaks. I bought an eddyline Caribbean angler 12 because of the lighter weight. Good luck and have fun
  14. Whew! I was quite confused seeing as how we have forums devoted to rods, reel, lures, and tackle Can't understand why any manufacturer wouldn't want their product discussed here at BR unless it's total garbage and constantly getting dissed
  15. I think for anything with treble hooks a medium power rod is usually the best choice. for most single hook applications I'll go with medium heavy. whenever I feel or see a bass bite I set the hook. I don't believe in waiting at all. some live baits may be a different story , but I rarely use them Yes, and there great for pickin the jerky from yer teef We are not allowed to name specific rods we use? I don't understand......This is a bass forum. How is discussing the equipment we use not part of the conversation?
  16. It's the internet. When in doubt don't do it
  17. I used to be a pretty fanatical bass fisherman. Would really work at studying conditions, lures, presentations and tactics. It worked. I caught more and larger fish then than I do now but there is one huge difference. I enjoy fishing more now than I did back then. It used to be about 'success' now it's about enjoyment. I love being out on the water on a beautiful day. I love bass lures. I love casting them I love getting bites. and I love catching them, but not at the expense of enjoyment. I'm getting old, and I don't care.
  18. My most enduring fishing fantasy has been one where I live on a mountain with cold streams full of trout. the streams run into a river loaded with smallmouth In the valley is a lake full of lmb. It's all surrounded by woods full of deer. And I own it all. I'm certain that if there is a heaven this is what it looks like
  19. I have to compliment the members here at BR. All this talk about weed and no jokes about smoking it. We is sho nuff a classy bunch
  20. Zara spook. an oldie but a goodie. OR.......LC Sammy. easy walker and the bass love it
  21. Stick marsh does hold lots of bass and the big ones are in there, but it's like any other lake. There are days when even the 'regulars' who have intimate knowledge of the lake and share info with each other have a hard time catching anything let alone dd's. As for the average visiting angler stickmarsh has broken a lot of hearts
  22. Was fishing a spinnerbait at stickmarsh/farm13 a few years ago. I got a solid thunk and set the hook. the fish took off like a rocket for a stump. I couldn't turn it and that was that. Never saw her, but she were a biggun
  23. don't forget the original troll lure and do not leave home without big bud
