  1. I use a 9’ 5” Burkheimer 6 wt effortless casting distance with all but the heaviest frogs etc I have 9’ 8wt Asquith that I use exclusively in the salt for snook redfish and trout
  2. You must be a Florida guy ? “schminnow” lol I always have some in the box and have caught bass on them Norm Ziegler is dearly missed FYI He sold his fly shop on Sanibel last year and Hurricane Irma totally destroyed the new shop Timing is everything I guess ?‍♂️
  3. I love fly fishing Ive caught caught most of my bass on bait casters and spin outfits but I love using a fly rod and have had good success My favorite bass rod is a 9’5” 6 wt lined with rio elite gold I tied an ugly but effective dragon fly imitation that works when the bugs are active I have also caught bass on 5 and 4 weights too but the six wt is perfect what’s your favorite
  4. I used to crash a lot of pickerel they will hit many bass lures but my favorite was to cast a devils into shallows they would travel to crush it Great fun
  5. I do Seriously, I like fooling a bass as much as the next guy but sometimes I feel like fishing a certain lure or technique even tho conditions call for something else Anybody else do that ?‍♂️
  6. I saw those foam cutouts on Amazon and ordered the large size I too have had some success with rubber leg poppers I use a sharpie to get the color I want
  7. Have a lot of dragon flies buzzing around Bass will clear the water to grab one Have tied some facsimiles that work sometimes but am looking for a really effective dragon fly pattern Anyone ?
  8. The fact is you will never know for sure If you had tried the new color in the first spot and got bit then you would know but once you left there is no way of knowing A few fish could have migrated in after you left and might have bit either color or both
  9. I used to tear em up with a green pumpkin senko on an otherwise classic Carolina rig My local lake is too weedy for Carolina rigs so I fish senkos (no knock-off’s) weightless and weedless Btw think of it as a baitfish lure rather than a worm it may surprise you ?
  10. I like swim jigs because they are so versatile It may have a pointy head but it’s still a skirted jig with a trailer so flipping works fine but it really shines as a swimmer
  11. I love poppers I can make a pop r sing dance and do the hokey pokey ?
  12. Before I moved to Florida my pb was a 6 lb 8oz largemouth caught on a now drained section of the peconic river in eastern Long Island It was caught on a spinner bait at 12 noon on June 21_st the summer solstice I’ll always believe that the date and time affected that bass because I must have fished over him at least a hundred times before
  13. Total bummer when you hook a big from shore but can’t land him and break off I been there My solution is use 30 lb braid and tie it directly to the jig or worm hook lock down the drag and horse em in It’s more fun than it sounds believe me when they see the shoreline they blow !!
  14. I’ve seen guys break trailer axles on washboards going too fast or going down roads that were barely trails my Ram 1500 Hemi 4x4 loves that road but I wouldn’t tow a boat on it
  15. When Catt speaks wise bassers listen
