  1. looking for any info on the Ni Reservoir. Water clarity? Forage? any tips? Shallow up lake? Or deeper main lake? how much is launch for non resident?
  2. Heading to Sugarloaf key for a week in early April and wanting to do 2 or 3 fishing trips. Preferably flats trips for tarpon, bonefish, snook etc. I've never fished a back country flats charter and was wondering seeing if my family here had any experience or suggestions on a specific guide/charter??? Any and all suggestions and advice wanted here! Thanks brothers!
  3. What pound braid? I fish flouro on my spinning rod now
  4. Crankbaits..... Just cast and retrieve. Natural colors for clear water bright colors for stained. Don't be afraid to get hung up on stumps etc. run right into them with a square bill. Deeper cranks fish off of major points ledges and wind blown structure. Top water. Fish around cover kinda slow. Or methodical rather. Now trade me ! Lol.
  5. Very informative guys. I appreciate it. Good strategy Marty. keep em coming,
  6. I recently read an article that had a poll asking what has been your most productive bait/confidence bait? To my surprise nearly all responses were some sort of worm or soft plastics. Wacky worm, shaky head, Texas rig I can do it and maybe catch one now and then..but i can't gain confidence in any of it... I am an avid fisherman (at least once a week) and I have to say mine is quite the opposite. I am more of a crankbait, top water, jig, flipping guy.... Deep or shallow I hardly ever have a worm tied on. I have fished worms before with minimal success. I am not sure if it's the slow approach or the fact that I can't feel what my bait is doing. But I can never find myself reaching for a worm come Saturday morning. My question to you guys is.... How can i gain confidence in soft plastics? Deep or shallow across the board.. . Do you guys swim your worms? Or hop them? Drag them? When I do fish them, am I missing the bites because I am not feeling them? I fish with pretty expensive tackle so I can't blame it on the rods or the line. I know and feel confident what a dead on bite is... (tap, tap, tug, tug). But what ab subltle bites? Am I just not being patient enough? What do I do when they aren't biting crankbaits and jigs, etc....???? Thanks guys
  7. You will be fine with the yak. Lots of people take em out there. Put in at 701 ramp. Its mid lake.
  8. Who is hosting the tournament? As far as I know tournaments involving prizes are prohibited.
  9. I've got a tournament coming up in a few weeks on a lake where I have caught some big ones in the past... problem is everyone knows about the spot and probably has caught their share of nice ones there as well. My question is... do I grind it out among all the other boats fighting for position or should I abandon the spot and keep my head clear on new water? Opinions?
  10. looking for ideas... gonna redeck my boat this winter and im looking for a lightweight alternative to plywood. maybe a honeycomb material sandwiched with sheathing of some sort? possibly fiberglass casing a smaller lighter piece of plywood? any advice will help thanks guys..
  11. hey guys, ive got a vacation planned in late august and the house we rented has a boat ramp right on the property. its canalfront on the soundside obviously. was wondering what the fishing was like on the soundside and if taking my 14 ft jon boat was worthwhile. would only travel a few miles at most and only on calm water. im a bass fisherman by trade so id be new to whatever approach i took. ive fished croakers with a drop shot in the rivers and chesapeake bay but thats about it. should i leave the boat at home and enjoy the vacation or would it be worth my while to tow it down there. its about a 2 hr trip for me from home to frisco. thanks guys
  12. i bought a solenoid to wire up and control my transom trolling motor from the front of the boat via toggle switch, im not sure how to wire it at all. tried a few things but no luck. this is what it looks like: continuous duty 24 v rated for 85 amps. i have a minn kota traxxis 70 lb thrust and i have the 24v battery setup, but where do i go from there? please help trying to hit the water tomorrow. thanks
  13. sorry.. nottoway lake. outisde blackstone va. throwing topwater frogs and poppers all morning. crankbaits.spinnerbaits. jigs. senkos, shakey heads. all over the lake. all depths. even had enough courage to throw the alabama rig. ended up with 6 bass in 3 days. coming off cranks and spinnerbaits. there was a little wind but only 5 mph tops.i actually prefer the wind like that. i can usually go there and catch at least a dozen. small or decent size. there is usually always something biting. but three days straight with 6 total fish? just wkndering if anyone else had simular results elsewhere
  14. fished three days on my local lake this past weekend with little success. threw everything in the tacklebox. partner did as well. whats the deal?i usually turn out pretty good numbers of fish there. anyone else have these same results? there wasnt a cold front, or any other weather. sorta blue bird skies fri and sat. but sunday was a little windy and partly cloudy. what was i doing wrong? what can i do next time this happens?
  15. hands down green top guys have forgotten more about bass fishing than the kids at bass pro could help u with... does bass pro give you a weekly fishing report? no... go talk to steve lane at GT... ABOUT ANYTHING.!!! the man knows his stuff. especially when it comes to electronics. i always hit green top before bp... green top for the fishing stuff. bp for the clothing and boat supplies.
