  1. Have him use the muzzleloader. Mike
  2. I am sorry, didn't see this post until Saturday. How did you do? Mike
  3. Ask someone from AK what they do to Northern Pike. In some rivers it is illegal to release a pike. Also, many reports of bass anglers killing muskies around here because they eat all the bass. Like J Francho said it's all perspective. Mike
  4. Bass do not know how much you spend on equipment. You can put together a pretty good combo for around $100. It's not a Curado and St. Croix Tournament series, but like I said the bass don't know that. Buy a 6'6" M or MH rod and a 7' M or MH rod and fish the heck out of them and see what you like. Take a look at some of the Quantum reels. I have one that was $80 that was on sale for $50 and I would put it against anything else out there. When I started I wanted the fastest action rod I could find. After fishing for some time I found what actions I liked for each technique. Good luck with what YOU pick. Mike

    Rage Tail

Hey guys and girls, might want to check out your local Gander Mtn for their clearance bins. I just bought Rage Tail Shads, Toads and Space Monkeys at ridiculous clearance prices. The Eagle Claw swim bait hook asst was $2.50. Chatterbaits were $1. Iovino's brass and glass worm weights were less than $1. These items were not on the rack but were in the clearance bins. I read so much about Rage Tails on this forum, I bought them all. I don't know if the same sale will be everywhere, but it is worth a look. Mike

  6. I'm working on it. Thank you for the offer, I will keep you in mind. Mike
  7. I use an old turkey hunting vest. It is not the new style with all the specialized pockets. It has two big pockets on each side plus a big pocket on the back to hold a bird. With it I can carry a huge plano box in back that will hold muskie lures. The pockets on the front/sides can hold the planos for bass lures. It can hold as much as you want to carry. Mike
  8. I'd fish Aurthur, but no boat. I am in the market for a kayak. Do you fish Arthur with or without a boat? Mike
  9. If it worked every time I went fishing, I'd quit fishing. Mike
  10. Thanks for the advice, I should try some out. What I don't understand is why would a kayak be good in a river but not a lake? Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but seriously don't know. If it is just speed, that is not my biggest concern. Mike
  11. OK, sounds good. Thanks J Francho Mike
  12. I looked at the boat today and it looks to be in very good shape. To be specific about the boat, he bought it as a pkg deal from Cabelas. He showed me the paperwork. It has two rod holders that are vertical off the back seat. It also has the square hatch that sits right in front of the seat. The paddlse even has the strap with it. I don't think there wold be anything else to buy. I already have a milk crate. Going to talk to the boss on this one. Mike
  13. Thank you very much for the advice you have given me. The PBG may be the one. I am not the most nimble either, but I can carry alot, like man like boat right? Again thanks for the advice. Mike
  14. What is "oil canning"? Also, comparing the PBG to the other popular SOTs for lakes and slower rivers, how does it rate? To me it seems like a helluva boat? But my knowledge is limited. Thanks, Mike
  15. I guess I forgot something....the asking price is $1000.00. Thanks Grey Wolf, I changed the original post. Mike
  16. I found this OK PGB for sale for $1000. Is this a good deal? If not what would be a good deal? I fish mainly lakes and slow rivers, I am 5"8" and @270. This is a 2007 model purchased from Cabelas with every available option. It has hummingbird 383 color lcd fish finder with gps/chart plotter. Anchor trolley system, rudder, comfort deluxe backrest seat, 230cm simply magic paddle, and 12v battery. 600 pound weight capacity. Thank you, Mike
  17. What kayak do you use? Mike
  18. I might make the trip to the Oneida tournament just so I can hit Dinosaur BBQ! Mike
  19. What ???????You guys use round reels????? I bet you can't catch fish with those. I know I read in a different thread that to catch bass the reel had to be under six ounces and cost over $200 or the fish will ignore your bait. Just send me those Abus and I will get rid of them for you. Mike
  20. I am totally C&R also with bass, but I agree with Red Earth, I would be pretty careful who I approached about releasing a fish they legally wanted to keep. Mike
  21. Thank you very much for the in-depth reply. I really appreciate the comments and they definitely help in the decision making process. I always liked the Commander but I heard so much about the Coosa. I also fish more stillwater, even the rivers I fish are more of a lake with heavier current. Thanks again. Mike
  22. If anyone has any comments on the Commander please give your opinions or experiences. Any other suggestions on a kayak are more than welcome. Thanks, Mike
  23. I understand. I wonder if one of the line sprays like the KVD spray would help to relax the line and be less "springy". After reading some of this reviews on this site I may give it a try. Mike
  24. Nice muskie. What bait were you using? Mike
  25. How do you backlash a spinning reel? Mike
