  1. I have a megabass destroyer validation. I think it's a 400 dollar rod. It doesn't even have a hook guard. It's decent but that isn't acceptable. I think it's a 2018 version.
  2. Me Chinese. Me play joke. Me put epoxy all over your pole. ??
  3. A fair way to estimate it coast to coast estimate it is to take 11 pounds 15 ounces (world record smallmouth ) and divide by 22 pounds and 4 ounces ( world record largemouth). That should put you in the 5.5 pound range. Or you could break it down to northern strain and say 15 pound to 12 pound ratio. This would increase the weight of the smallmouth in comparison, putting you very close to roadwarriors 8 pound estimate. WRB could give exacts I’m sure because I don’t know the record northern strain. I know TN kicked out a 14.5 pound northern strain back in the 50s.
  4. My son has the 7'4" Rage version. Many a Guntersville bass has been pulled from various vegetation over the years. Excellent rod.
  5. This is a Dobyns Champion 736 glass chatterbait rod that has been used 5 times at most. It's a $240 rod. ? Just when I was beginning to love the rod, a chunk fell out of the handle and it is massive, almost the width of the cork ring. It is deep and I can even see the blank. The handle is apparently of poor quality cork. The other side of the rod felt like it's crumbling and was the area I was worried about, then I saw this. I know Dobyns has a solid warranty, but its like $70 bucks. I feel your cheap cork pain. What size shrink wrap did you buy? I think the Dobyns is the same size as the Curado. . Where do you source shrink wrap? How do you heat it? Great looking job! Thanks for sharing.
  6. Not super soft at all. I think it’s a mod fast action. Keeps fish pinned. I throw 3/8 ounce swim jigs and 1/4 ounce bullet weights w 10” worms is the lightest I have tried. I use those regularly. It does fine. At $75 it’s a no brained. I’d go lighter rather than heavier with this stick. It is very versatile. We caught them on clearance and bought 5. It is very sensitive.
  7. Excellent rod. I'd rate it between medium heavy and heavy. I have 2 and my son has 3. I have alone bucoo version as well. Strangely enough, the bucoo feels like a true heavy. Lowrider 20 Amistad is very versatile.
  8. Yes. Spool doesn't spin long. But it will cast a mile. I wouldn't change a thing because the bearings are high quality. If anything you might get it professional cleaned and tuned by someone competent, like DVT Mike.. It's one of Shimanos finest efforts and many are still in service.. Even today it will stand tall against modern competition.
  9. Sliders. The original Ned rigs. Brewer slayed bass on the TN River. Especially Wilson Lake, near his home.
  10. Nice looking. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing!
  11. Regarding old reels, they are as good as they ever were. They don't compare to the new stuff, but they will cast lures and retrieve fish. DVT is you man, as WRB stated.
  12. David Fritts uses braid. He has switched since 2011. He's the best crankbait tournament angler ever. End of story. But to each their own.
  13. Shimano is what I own, but I would gladly own Diawa. The rest will give you Covid 19 if you don’t disinfect these Chinese made POS. ?
  14. Many, many many reel experts leave those out. It is a backup and if it fails it will cause noise at best and cause internal damage at worst. It backs up the (anti reverse bearing ARB). If said bearing fails, you can buy another aARB.
  15. I think pp had 8 wraps and Courtland has 12. Must make it tougher.
  16. The musky guys say it blows Power Pro away. It frays less, stays rounder, holds its color longer, is available in many sizes and colors, and doesn’t snap off large baits on long casts like Power a Pro does. It seems to cost a bit more. Apparently Courtland has 100 years of experience with braided lines and they are very good at them. I’ve always used pp.
  17. Nice reels!
  18. That’s when you say “Get your butt off your phone and get into the sporting goods department and make yourself useful and start scanning. I might get 15% off”. ????
  19. As a co, Buy reel to get into the head of your boater during tournaments. Catch the fish he misses due to lack of concentration.?
  20. What reels look like after taking a trip on LSD.
  21. http://marinecreations.homestead.com/testpage.html Check these replicas out... Especially the largemouth. They look phenomenal . I d.o enjoy a good skin mount. Always have. Always will. I’m a weirdo but don’t I like looking at fish mounts on eBay. I wish I could hear the tales.
  22. I've read about this guy. Thanks for sharing.
