  1. I read 3 n 1 won a long distance casting championship years ago. Close to yellow rocket fuel in specs. DVT Mike knows his stuff.
  2. The 8 , 9 to 10 pound 14 ounce smallmouth of the 70s, 80s and 99s in Dale Hollow went away when slot limits and 1 keeper limits were introduced. Dale still has unbelievable biomass.. its just shifted. If the round goby gets in there look out, the DDs would return., slot limits or not.
  3. The megabass plus 1 jr. Hooks are regular hooks and much stronger than the 110 outbarb hooks. Why would you replace them? Guessing you are new to the junior size...?
  4. I love my usa made falcon rods and have not bought ant Chinese made one. It bothers me and I would likely buy older outside communist China made stuff if given the choice. Same
  5. I have Costa Green mirror (amber) but now prefer Maui Jim's Rose colored lenses. As good as amber is rose is similar but an improvement in varied conditions. The world really does look better through rose colored lenses. It is very high contrast, so much so skiers use rose to avoid branche and look for slight changes in snow as they speed down mountain slopes. Versatile enough to use on sunny days in Caribbean or some foggy mountain trout stream.
  6. Is the Amistad expert the same action as the lowrider and cara amistads? Or slightly softer?
  7. Not a bb. A lead pellet. You drill a hole in the front. Makes the head of the worm wiggle like no other. It pushes water. They don’t see it regularly and cant resist. Old Florida trick due to shallow water. Works well on Tennessee River grass lakes too. Daisy and Crossman work, but I haven't used them at all since I began using Gamo. Dental tool are your friend.
  8. Also, don't know if allowed but ALF has a 40% back card on Dobyns right nowm
  9. Assuming you like medium light Dobyns 702 Sierra and 732 Champion are legendary. If budget allows I'd go 732 as it is the most different than what you already have and will "pin" stuck fish with the best of them. Assuming medium add a 3 on the end of both of the rods I mentioned.
  10. Pretty much my findings. I also believe the labeled "fast" action to be more of a "mod fast" action, making it a solid choice for anything, but especially moving baits. The handle is on the shorter side of what I prefer, but all in all a good budget rod.
  11. Rage version is comparable and an excellent heavy action rod. Capable of anything but what you might need an XH to do.
  12. I'm a Shimano guy and have dozens. But moving to Diawa on spinning reels for the anti reverse switch option. It has no liabilities in bass fishing, only benefits to how i fish. It is convenient.
  13. What are your intended uses for this model?
  14. I think I've heard it is an excellent frog rod....
  15. World record casting championships have been won with 3 N 1. Similar in viscosity to Yellow Rocket fuel.
  16. Great topic. I don't hsve one. Just wing it.
  17. When the Shimano Calcutta csme our around 1991, it had a multi length handle. One short side and one long side. Brilliant because you could pick your speed and effort. This feature was discontinued within a year.
  18. Very cool thread. All gamechanger reels that have come along have to be considered. 5000/5500C. Lews speed spool. Diawa Magforce. Shimano Calcutta, Curado, Chronarch. Once instant anti reverse came in with Calcutta, it's just been tweaks of great reels......
  19. So awesome. Thanks for all you share Tom!
  20. Maui Rose. The world does look better through rose colored lenses. Similar to amber showing contrast.
  21. Where can you find those? Shimano direct?
  22. Does ya'lls Ollies have any lefthanded SLX reels? Mine only has right handed.? 6.2 and 7.1 gears. Clearing them at $59.99 I guess making way for the new models. No left handed ones, sadly.
