  1. Personally I'd buy a $200 rod like the rest of the guys. You should be able to snag a Champion for that or like someone mentioned shop around and get a more expensive rod for around $200 on sale or something.
  2. Have not used one but it should work fine for drop shot.
  3. I'd buy all of them from you also. I need to order a couple of jigs here soon too.
  4. Man if I hadn't just started a new job and was still in my probationary period I would so be in on this trip!!! Hope you guys have fun!
  5. I live in Northwest Indiana and we don't have double digit bass here but I don't think the fishing is terrible. I have caught pretty big bass from Indiana lakes but nothing like Southern lakes. I'd love to live in FL, GA, AL, or TX.
  6. Abrazx. Next I will be buying some Tatsu.
  7. Not to hijack the thread but that method sounds like an excellent way of getting your starting point for your guides DVT!! I'm going to use that neXT casting rod I build!
  8. I'm interested to see how I will like my rod spiral wrapped. I can clearly see the benefits in it because you aren't fighting the rod and I also find it aesthetically pleasing.
  9. I think he owns 2 spiral wrapped rods Batson but just doesn't like them.
  10. Ah I see. Thank you! I'm glad I went with the fiberglass grip. I think it looks very nice.
  11. Why is that if you don't mind me asking?
  12. Okay so I just switched them around. I went with 0°, 60°, 120°, and 180°. Im waiting for some of the vinyl tubing and I'll ditch the tape and put some of the rubeer bands on and check for line stacking. Then I will get to wrapping. So far it seems to be a really nice blank. Seems to be pretty sensitive and it balances well about 2 inches in front of the reel seat. We'll see how it does after its wrapped and finished.
  13. So since this is a bass build I could set the first one to 0° and then continue with my 30°, 90°, and 180° on my guide train? Since the heaviest I'll use this for is maybe 1.5 Oz but even that is doubtful. Love the boat by the way!!!!
  14. If I understand correctly it's the line stacking to one side of the reel when you reel in. But don't hold me to that.
  15. So put it at like 20 degrees or so DVT? Also when I pull out some line and retrieve it in what do I need to look for?
  16. Finally started my first rod build! I've had the blank sitting in my room for 3 months and all the other stuff for about 5 and I've finally got the time to start. I'm building a light duty flipping stick on a Batson RX7 IFS904. It will be spiral wrapped with a 12" fiberglass tube handle.
  17. Sounds good to me on the springtime meet up!! I live in La Porte. How about you guys?
  18. What do you guys think of the one I posted? http://fortwayne.craigslist.org/boa/4406626689.html
  19. I put the types of water I fish. I'll fish small to medium size lakes, ponds, and an occasional river.
  20. I've heard KOA knives are awesome knives. That should be a good one.
  21. How about my rudder question? Is it a necessity?
  22. If you don't mind electric I'd pick up a Mister Twister if you want a regular fillet knife get a Havalon.
  23. The spots I fish I probably will rarely if ever stand so that isn't a problem. I will fish some larger lakes and then ponds. No huge reservoirs. Possibly might get on a river but it isn't fast moving.
  24. I find this Ocean Kayak for $600. What do you guys think? http://fortwayne.craigslist.org/boa/4406626689.html
