I have had good luck with a 3/8 oz Hack attack heavy cover swim jig. I use the bluegill pattern almost all the time. I have used sexy shad, as well. As far as, trailers go I use a rage menace, and Keitech SIF. I fish it all the time, as a search bait and to cover water.
I used them last year with great results. I used the 3/8 model, with a keitech swing impact fat trailer. The only problem I found with them is the keeper really tore up the trailers. Bluegill worked especially well.
I have a 130 in perch. I haven't tried a 90, but the 130 is good size. The 130 will definitely work when there is a chop on the water, and you have to put most other topwaters away.
I was looking at these, as well. I am wondering what color most of you would use for a bluegill swimjig/bladed bait. I usually use a bluegill flash Keitech, or a bluegill menace grub.
Last year I bought an iRod Gen 2 stone cold swimjig/bladed jig rod, and I love it. At $150, the price is good. The rod is light, I increased my casting distance and hook-up ratio. Here is a link to check it out.

I liked it so much that I bought another to through my bladed jigs.
