  1. You guys are making me even more anxious. Preytorien, I'll be waiting for the pics.
  2. Just ordered a bunch of Malta Dredge brush jigs. I have to say I love how you can customize your jigs, from head color to the skirt color to the living rubber color. Its so refreshing having a say in how your baits looks compared to walking into the local big box and grabbing whatever is on the shelf. Now I'm anxious for them to show up at my front door. I've never used living rubber jigs before, I'm assuming they'll be good in the pre-spawn when the water is cooler.
  3. For strictly fishing, without a second thought I would go with the fishfinder but for life in general (including fishing) I'd go with the gopro. This is all a mute point since you get the best of both worlds
  4. Mines a play on words. I enjoy waterfowl hunting in the fall and our best hunts are usually during or before foul weather. So its along the lines of foul weather brings fowl to the skies.
  5. haha...that was my pickup line when i first met my wife, "wanna see an odd rod"
  6. Mines going towards sheetrock and insulation for my dinningroom...wooohoo I might see if I can sneak a curado g or chronarch in depending on their clearance prices. On a sidenote taxes are what I do for a living. Uncle Sam really likes it when you are married with young children, thats where my refund comes from.
  7. I'm interested myself, I went to pick one up the other day and Dick's didn't have any on the shelf. I did a search on here awhile back and did't get any results.
  8. He called him dink...I think I just woke my wife sleeping next to me laughing at that one. Dink is the level poster he is, like yours says fry. The more you post the larger size fish your level goes to. Welcome to the forums this really is a great site and thanks for the laugh.
  9. This past season was my first time using a dropshot. I used two different worms, the zoom finesse worm and the Yum Shakealisous, I had more success on the shakealisous out of the two but I did well with both baits. To answer your question the zooms were the first I'd pickup but I seemed to do better on yum I picked up some Missle baits fuse 4.4 and plan on picking up some roboworms to tryout this spring.
  10. I'm left handed and when it comes to baitcasters I use right handed reels. I like to impart the action of the rod with my left hand and I also feather the spool more naturally with my left thumb. It also made it easier to learn coming from spinning setups. I fish for bass, pike and walleye, none of these are going wear me out trying to reel them to the boat. If I was deep sea fishing and battling a fish for multiple hours then I'd want a left-handed reel because it's my stronger hand but for the fishing I do I don't need the power in my cranking side I'd rather use the better athletic ability of my left hand to give my bait the action and to feather the spool.
  11. Hopefully its like the anteras, that reel is a thing of beauty. Although I heard its the same platform as either the Chronarch ci4 or Metanium. My guess is its going to be the ci4 since they already have a Chronarch in that form, which I find rather ugly. But either way after the G series flopped I'm sure it will be one boss of a reel.
  12. Looks a lot like the Cabela's fire tail but I've only seen that in a grub not a worm, makes me wonder if they made it in a worm at one time. I know they still sell it in the grub but not the worm.
  13. I used to mainly go with the netbait paca chunk but then they came out with the Berkeley havoc rocket craw and I now have a new main trailer that I use. Great action, I like the long antennas to help the action, the claws float better than the paca and the range tail all at a great price. Hard to beat. The Havoc line of baits really put some good baits on the market
  14. I was surprised it took so long for the pit boss to be mentioned, very good action. I'll throw another one in the mix that is on par with the pit boss. The Havoc Devil Spear is a deadly bait and don't be afraid to split it's tail.
  15. Thanks Mike you are the man! I love the basis of your show, it's a breath of fresh air from the over commercialized pros.
  16. I love your show only problem is I work till 5. Do they re-air it on NBC Sports at another time for us 9-5 people? I have been enjoying last season's episodes that you posted the link to though. Thanks!
  17. I second this. I have 3 little girls and a lot of the time the only way I got out fishing was to take the oldest one with me and my wife would be at home with the my 2nd. Then the third came and I'd take the oldest two and leave the youngest with my wife for some alone time. Now the youngest is three and comes with us and my wife gets some alone time which in turn I get some alone time to go fishing by myself or with a friend. Also what I found out works best for my wife and I is when the house is a wreck from the kids its easier to clean the house with 1 adult and no kids than 2 adults trying to get the 3 kids to help. So I take the kids fishing and she cleans the house without the kids going behind us and messing it up again, its a win-win. As for techniques I agree with what the others are saying and go with spinnerbaits/in-line spinners and soft plastics, but definately listen to what Cat said and look for structure, this is more important than what bait you are using. You can have the best technique and bait but if you are not where the fish are you will get discouraged quick.
  18. I got a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver...now I can't wait till spring to mount it to my boat and go fishing. I have been sledding with the kids and letting them get video of themselves and MAN does it take some great quality video. They love it! Although, I quickly found out Youtube doesn't like it when you put music to your videos from Itunes.
  19. I've always used Rooster Tails and Blue Foxes, I'll have to tryout some Panthers. I prefer Blue Fox though, I've never had a problem getting them to spin where the Rooster Tails you have to give them a pop to get them to start spinning.
  20. Update on the Erik's website...just checked to see if they still have that deal and it appears they don't. To bad because it was one hell of a deal @ $110 off
  21. I just picked up the Hero 3+ silver for $190 and can't wait for Xmas to try it out. Heads up to anyone looking to buy one, Erik's Bikes and Boards is selling the Hero 3 silver for $199 online with a $10 discount at checkout. I pulled it up on my phone and Walmart priced matched it so I had it on time for Xmas. When I got in the car I noticed that they price matched a 3+ instead of a 3...BONUS!!!
  22. My go to jigs are: SK Pro Model Jig in sexy craw matched with a Havoc Rocket Craw in Perfection green fleck. I also like this jig/trailer combo in black n blue also. My second favorite is a Terminator Pro model jig in Electric blue matched with a Havoc Pit Boss (cut down to trailer size) in Perfection blue fleck.
  23. How would the 7' H work for A-rigs? Would it not be a good choice since they are fiberglass? Right now I use a 7'MH berkely lightning shock rod paired with a C3 4600 but my current rod seems a little too light when trying to heave an A-rig. I was thinking of pairing the 4600 with the Rick Clunn rod as my A-rig and for deep cranks but I have never used a fiberglass rod and it has kept me from pulling the trigger.
  24. Anyone else ever have this happen??? Casting with a baitcaster and a loose grip on the rod, in mid-cast get a backlash and the snap of the lure on the other end pulls the rod and reel right out of your hands and into the drink. LOL, I have had it happen twice, first time I caught the end of the rod by my finger tips before the rod sank to the dark depths of a river and the second time I was on a clear lake in 10 ft of water. I tied on a heavy in-line spinner with a treble hook on the end to snag my rod. I have since learned to have a better grip on my rod while at the same time finessing the spool with my thumb.
  25. I never used black jigs that much until this spring I picked up a 1/2 oz Strike king pro model jig, the skirt is a metallic blue on the outside and the inside of the strands are black, it is now one of my favorites to throw...along with the same jig with a watermelon and pumpkin skirt and orange strands on the bottom, these have been my go to jigs this season. I like them enough that I went back and picked up a few more in both colors. A Rocket craw in the color Perfection Green fleck is a thing of beauty on the green jig...and a Pit Boss in the color Skywalker on the black one is an awesome combination.
