  1. 1.Frog 2.Pittboss punching vegetation 3. Spro rat size 50.
  2. Snag proof Bobby's perfect frog.
  3. Unless I'm casting to a very specific target, I don't mind the big splashes. If I'm targeting a specific spot I usually cast past it anyway. I've been hit the moment a 2 oz bait hit the water without doing a subtle landing.
  4. I probably keep things too simple, but it's easier for me to keep everything to a minimum. I put more emphasis on the type of lure than I do color. I generally only buy one color (sometimes 2) of each specific lure. All my craws, senkos, tubes and trds are GP, all flukes are white, all speed worms and frogs are black, etc. My jigs and chatterbaits are bluegill color or white. Same applies for hard baits, but I don't use them as often.
  5. 1.Half fingers 2. I rarely use lures with treble hooks. 3. I put them on once I'm in the boat (often before sunrise) and never take them off. I think wearing the gloves are just as comfortable as not, and the days you catch a bunch of big ones it eliminates 'bass palm'.
  6. In the summer I primarily throw 4 baits for an entire day. Frog, punch rig, 1/2 oz chatterbait with razor shad trailer, and a 6 to 7" senko. The frog is always black, and everything else is always green pumpkin.
  7. Bobby's perfect hollow body frog. Great hookup ratio and long lasting.
  8. Had a great day in Indiana. Frog, 1oz punch, and chatterbait caught about 15 fish over 3 pounds. Found a spot the size of a kitchen table that held 8 in the 4 to 5.3 pound range and bit on almost every cast with the chatterbait.
  9. My PB was on a spinnerbait which I was yo-yoing around some coontail. I also like to reel it steadily ticking the tops of weeds, or bounce it off timber. I'll cast it very shallow on the wind blown shoreline, too.
  10. I own two of the 735s, and I'm from northern Indiana. As CroakHunter said, they are pretty versatile. I mainly use them for frogs and a 3/4oz to 1oz punching. Honestly the 735 is probably in my hands for 80 percent of my fishing from May to October unless I'm going for smallmouth.
  11. There's a bass master open going on there now. Might find some good info from their blog. Here's the current leaderboard https://m.bassmaster.com/leaderboard/tournaments/2019-bass-pro-shops-eastern-open-lake-chickamauga
  12. My favorite is snag proof Bobby's perfect frog. It's the only one I buy now, and I've tried most of the other popular frogs.
  13. I'd probably use a jerkbait, tube, ned rig, and bladebait.
  14. Hi all, I recently bought a Garmin striker plus 7sv, and I'd like to mount the screen on my kayak's slide track system. I'm struggling to find the best solution and was hoping for some advice. I aIready bought a switch blade for the transducer Thanks!
  15. $1300 extra seems like a good amount of spending money so I'd get the boat as long as the interest rate wasn't bad. Some things I'd make sure I have in place before hand is an emergency fund and retirement savings. I'd recommend having a savings account equal to about 6 months worth of your expenses. Most likely won't need it, but tough situations are always made worse without preparation. Then I'd suggest saving into a retirement account. If your employer matches up to a certain percent, that would be the minimum I'd do, otherwise 10 percent. Compound interest works best when saving at a young age.
  16. I used these for the first time this year and was also my first year punching. Caught plenty of fish (from dinks to 6 pounds) rigging the way others have said and just bury it in the plastic. I've had no issues going through vegetation. I also only tie uni knots for everything and never have issues.
  17. There's some locals around me that like using a similar piece of tackle I linked below, so I'm looking forward to trying a Tokyo rig. http://realfishbait.com/index.php/real-fish-bait/big-shot-rig-punching.html
  18. I have two kids under 2yrs old so my time is spent with them most of the time. I do have summers off as a teacher, so I go about 3 times a month June through August. I feel guilty trying to go any more considering my wife works full time and I don't want to leave her without help on her days off. We don't use day care so during the school year I don't go much. Once the kids are older we'll do a lot of kayaking, camping, etc so I'm sure I'll sneak in extra fishing time.
  19. Snag proof phat frog was easy to walk if I remember correctly.
  20. Went to get my oil change and decided to walk into DSG while waiting. Walked out with 8 packs of pit bosses since they had buy 6 get two free. If they had 8 more packs of the colors I like I probably would have bought more.
  21. Frog fishing is full of misses. This is especially true if you are throwing it on top of some vegetation. Often times I really try to get them to bite on the edge or in holes because my hook up ratio is a ton higher, but this isn't always possible. Otherwise as mentioned it could be your equipment or the frog. If you are in more open water then ten misses kinda high and I would bend out the hooks slightly. You can also use the frog as a search bait and if they miss throw a soft plastic at them.
  22. I'd have him buy some senkos and terminal tackle for wacky and Texas rigs and only fish that until he gained skill and confidence. Then he can expand from that later in the year with other presentations.
  23. I don't have a kayak I can stand in so I'm sitting the entire time. I prefer a net but the only one I have is kind of big for the kayak so I'll only bring it if I'm fishing treble hook lures or if the lake is known for pike. Holding the rod to the opposite side of the kayak that the fish is on is my number one method. Just make sure you have enough line out to decrease the pressure on the rod and the fish is still in the water. Your line and your rod should not break this way as long as your drag is set properly. I'll grab the fish's lips or belly depending on the position. If it's heavy vegetation and I'm using thick braid I just get the fish in my hands asap so it doesn't go back in the weeds by either boat flipping, grabbing the fish, or grabbing the line.
  24. Had one of my best Indiana fishing days yesterday. I was catching fish sporadically and had about 4 fish in 5 hours with weights of 4.05,3.78, 2.25ish, and a dink. Then the wind started to pick up bass started to hit a Big EZ almost every cast. I stopped taking pictures after a few to get my line back out there asap. The flurry lasted for about a dozen fish and most were in the 17" to 19" range. Unfortunately, my GoPro was dead by then but I at least got the 4 fish from earlier that day on video.
