  1. yea who would have thought to use a thermometer when fishing???
  2. I thought about using a bobber, but they were only really eating things that were floating on the top, so I didn't know what to use that would float.
  3. I've never heard of that conditioner FL_Sharpshooter, what does it do? Does it just keep the gears spinning nicely?
  4. I tried bottom fishing them once, and didn't catch anything because I was watching them swim around on the top. Any suggestions?
  5. Ok, sweet. Thanks for the input guys.
  6. Thanks guys, I really just got it because I want to learn how to cast better with a baitcasting reel, since this will be my first one. That's why I selected the cheapest I could find. Can't wait for it to get here!
  7. How exactly would you recommend catching carp? As in what bait, time, and place.
  8. Hi, I'm Daniel and I'm new to this forum, but not very new to fishing. Although I'm only 19 years of age, I have been fishing all my life, mostly in small ponds. I have just recently found a love for fishing in bigger waters, such as Briery Creek Lake, and Buggs Island Lake (aka Lake Kerr). I am going river fishing this weekend to see if I can pull in a couple of nice bass. I have not caught many big fish, but I am on the hunt, just like most of us as I would assume. I eventually want to get my own bass boat and a few more rods, reels, and tackle. I would also enjoy competing in some tournaments, perhaps in the near future. For right now though, I just fish for fun with my friends that do have boats, and when I go by myself I just fish from the shore. It's a hard life, I know haha. I would also like any tips on bass fishing that you are willing to offer. I have recently been really reading up on my stuff, so the bass better be ready!
  9. In order to get into a club tournament, I wouldn't have to be sponsored or put up a large entry fee, correct?
  10. So I just purchased an Abu Garcia black magic baitcasting reel for around 50$ and I was wondering if it really is a good reel for the price. It is still in the mail so I haven't been able to try it out yet. I knew that Abu Garcia is a good brand so that's why I chose their black magic for my first baitcasting reel. Any thoughts or comments? ps: I also got the left hand retrieve so I wouldn't have to do all that switching nonsense.
  11. If you are having trouble catching bass at Briery Lake, just keep on fishing. I live like 10 minutes down 15 toward Keysville and I've been fishing there a lot. I've had my days where you don't catch hardly anything, and then the other days where you find that one location and catch 22! I've seen a 29" bass come out of there so keep your hopes up! There are big bass in that lake, and always have been.
  12. Everyone talks about going tournament fishing. I know that I'm a little young and I don't even have my own boat, but some of my friends do and I would really like to enter some small tournaments. I was just wondering what the easiest way to find and enter them was.
  13. The fish are usually there, they don't really have anywhere to go, except maybe in someone's boat. The best advice I can give you would to just keep at it and experiment with different lures and retrieves.
