Since it seems like everyone is talking soft body, I love to throw the 3.8 inch Keitech Swing Impact Fat, and I throw it on a Kistler Magnesium 7'3" MH with 15 lb line. Gosh I love Keitech's
MH is definitely not too much for a big topwater. Not at all. As someone stated above, MH with fast action would be perfect for most of that. I am someone who prefers a longer rod, though, so I might go to 7 foot.
Had a great time last Thursday at my secret lake. Caught quite a few good ones just having fun fishing a senko! Check out the video I made of it. Nothing better than monster hook sets! (It looks better if you put it in HD)
Spinnerbaits are my world. What rod and line I use depends on whether or not I am fishing in open water or in tight spaces. I normally use a Kistler Magnesium 7'3" MH all purpose rod and 20 lb mono.
Kistler Magnesium 7'3" Heavy Froggin' & Riggin' stick. Love this thing. Throw a Daiwa Tatula on there and some good braided line that matches what you are doing and you are set!
The Triton is actually my friend's boat. The aluminum boat that you see in the beginning when I am talking is my boat. It is a 1997 Sea Nymph and I got it for a steal of $2500. Everything works well on it and it is perfect for small lakes.
As promised, here is the video from my trip there last week! Nailed a ton of good ones. I decided to actually put a description of what I used in the video this time. Enjoy if you want!
I think most people just want something to complain about (the jet ski thing). I agree with you and I don't get why it is so difficult for some people to just follow the rules!
