  1. Thanks for the reply.
  2. Fishing tourment in a week or so at Clarks Hill Lake; have never been there. Anyone got any advice on Lures or location? Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Finally after 69 years on this good earth we have bought lake front property and can't wait to fish most days of the year. Does anyone have any fishing information on Lake Greenwood. I know right now the lake is at least 4 ft low; it's lowered every winter. I have a Kayak so I can still get in and get around along with a pontoon boat. They are the most popular boats on the lake. Hopefully soon I'll get a used bass boat. Thanks for any assistance with fishing on Greenwood
  4. It's been a few years since I've made the Amazon Trip (Covid restrictions) but try Pamela Howard she's very good and the trips I've been on with her have been worthwhile. URL: https://globalanglingtours.com/ I've made seven trips to the Amazon and if you want to discuss please let me know and I'd be happy to provide any advice or help I can. Florida does have peacocks but they don't grow as big as the ones in the Amazon. Good luck with your trip
  5. Your fishing a spot and not getting any bites so you move to a new location maybe not far; while moving you change the color of the bait your using (say plastic worm). New spot and now your getting bites, is that because you moved or because you changed color of your bait? Think it's an interesting question
  6. Snakehead between 5 and 7 lbs. Caught today on Huntsman Lake in Fairfax VA
  7. Thanks, when (not if) I catch another I'll try that
  8. After careful consideration I think you all are correct; more like 5 lbs, plus. At the time I was so nervous/scared about being bit or losing him that I wasn't thinking clearly. Didn't know Snakeheads have such a hard head, tried to stab him through his "skull" to the brain and ran into what I thought was armor plate!! Well live and learn. Ran knife through his eyes and should have gutted him but again wasn't thinking clearly. Know better next time
  9. Caught this monster this morning. Figure he's about 3 lbs
  10. Yep; agree with you my Hobie got too big to drag to Mercer so I basically fish Huntsman and Lake Burke. Sometimes try Occoquan. Easy to park and get to Huntsman. Take Huntsman Ave to Golden Ball Tavern Court and you'll see a gate as soon as you make the turn onto to Golden Ball. Park anywhere and go around the gate (easy walk) to the lake and put in.
  11. Just got back from Huntsman Lake. I read that when they filled it the DNR didn't include any Bass. Well they are sure there. Sorry for the quality (or lack of) of the picture but trying to hold a fish, take a picture and keep the kayak in the water is difficult. This was the fourth bass and the biggest. I also had to cut them down to fit the allowable size.
  12. Thanks Karl; looks interesting. I'll check it out
  13. Got a 12' Hobie Pro Angler, been using a Rhino Car Top carrier for years but now it's time for a new car. Been thinking a trailer is the way to go. Any recommendations on a trailer for a Hobie Kayak thanks
  14. Thanks for the suggestion
  15. Taking a week rental vacation home on Lake Norman, NC in late June. Two questions; has anyone rented a boat and did it work well and can you provide recommendations on a bass guide? thanks for any help
  16. Well that's great news; thanks for the update
  17. I'm also in a kayak (Hobie). Looking a buying a year pass and kinda of wanted to get opinions on which is better before buying pass. Generally I have better luck on ORP and like you said Fountainhead can take years to learn. Also there are the rowing teams
  18. N. VA bass fishermen, question for you. If you could choose only one which would you prefer to fish, Occoquan Park (subject to Tidal Potomac) or Fountainhead (above the dam)? And more importantly, Why
  19. I'm 67 and have Hobie 12 Angler. Use Rhino Loader to get on and off the van easily. It is a heavy beast but incredible stable. With a set of wheels it's easy to move around. I used to haul/pull it about 1/2 mile to a fishing lake. Not doing that any more; just too far to pull a 110+lb boat. But if you can park "close" to whatever water you want to fish you won't regret a Hobie.
  20. Thanks for the hints; especially about purging air out; never heard that before.
  21. I'm getting ready to pour my first Do-It essential senko 5 inch worms. Not ready for laminate yet but hope to soon. Any hints you can provide would be appreciated.
  22. Wrong reservoir; the one I'm looking for is in Loundon county, N. VA but thanks for the update Darren
  23. I did a search and the only forum files I could find were from 2016. Does anyone know if the Reservoir is open for fishing this year?
  24. Wow!! Never realized what a "can of worms" I was opening up. Just curious about back-reeling, why use it. I guess I'm also too old to learn new tricks. Have never used it, always use drag or open the bail. Thanks for all the replies, learned a lot and thanks to all that replied
