I am mostly a finesse fisherman that uses spinning reels basically because I have not taken the time to master a baitcaster. I am trying to get a crankbait spinning outfit that allows me to rip the plug from grass when I feel it get hung up. The rods I have now just don't do the job. Can anyone lend me some tips.
I am a member of an outdoors club that contains 3 nice size ponds full of bass and I have a small jon boat, but I usually do most of my fishing from shore. I am trying to find an effective mosquito repellant. Also I'm not talking about that industrial strength, chemical burn your skin, type of repellant.
Two Questions: My uncle told me that flourocarbon can knick up your line guides on your spinning reel rod which could lead to line breaks...... is that true?
And I have put flourocarbon on a spinning reel once and I didn't like the results of how it performed. Is flourocarbon a good match for spinning reels or should it exclusively be used for casing reels?
I use a 1/8 Bitsy Bug (black/blue) with either an Uncle Josh's pork frog trailer or a Berkley chigger craw 3" model. I slowly lift my rod tip and as the jigs falls back down I point my rod tip towards the water and reel in the slack line. Then you just wait for the tug and set the hook. It takes patience.
Always be sure to use a trailer hook. Trailer hooks will increase your catch frequency. Also Kevin Van Dam said on BASS PROS that he likes to crimp down the rivet on the buzz bait so it cannot move. (that is that little steel piece that the blade rubs against when you are reeling in the lure)
I've been fishing my whole life, but in the last couple years I have really become intrigued by the science behind bass fishing. I can't believe a site exist such as this free of charge and with the huge amount of info available on it. Found my new favorite site.
Simply put, I LOVE TO BASS FISH, and I would like to see how well I do in a tournament. Does anyone know of any tournaments in Indiana or Southwest Michigan
