  1. Nice spot you got. I was on the water paddling away from the dam headed home. Then I stopped casted out and reeled in my very first LMB. Little did I know I can try out almost all the lake and catch nothing but I go to this spot and it's almost like a guarantee. It's got standing timber on both sides but a nice gap about 20 ft patch of lake where I always like to cast at. It's been productive but some days I catch nothing even at the spot. Have a good one.
  2. Nice story, you still haven't caught one on a senko:P Yeah I can affirm I let my paps hold my bass pole because I was doing something with my bream rig and BAM! less than ten seconds he borrows the bass pole and boats an LMB. His first bass ever btw..
  3. There's a bunch of boats at the lake I fish that go about trolling along always fishing the channel bank. I think they hate it when they see me in their way with my kayak. Some politely go around some get way too close but I don't move spot. Especially if that's where the fish are at. One time I pulled a fish and moments later some dude in a nearby boat who seen me does a long cast right in the exact same spot I pulled it from. He didn't catch nothing would of been funny if he did. Some of that stuff makes my blood boil but being friendly is your biggest asset.
  4. Hey thanks brushoggin that was helpful.
  5. Hi, How do fry (baby bass) survive what is the journey their life takes to become a big bass? Where are these baby bass located in the lake, how do they live, what do they do and are they eaten by other bass or just other species? Are they protected by their moms until a certain size? I don't know nothing about them always I've wondered what the lake food chain is like and how it operates if someone who knows could please describe the process a little I'd appreciate it. Thanks, LWD

    Spinnerbaits

@hooligan apologies if I couldn't be more specific and provide more info. I am new to this and I don't think I am convinced of myself that's why I asked you all. Still there are many questions for other posts. Have a good one.
  7. Hi all, for bass do you catch more with spinnerbaits or with senkos which one works better in your opinion? For instance, do spinnerbaits because of their blade flash passing by catch the eye of a wandering bass better? I'm having doubts that some bass are not seeing the senko I'm throwing out there very well unless they are actively feeding searching for it. What spinnerbait do you recommend and do they sell one with a weed guard? TY, LWD
  8. Never had it go in that deep. I was trying to get a nightcrawler off the treble there was tension in the line so it was pulling into my pinky as the rod flexed. It had got stuck the more I tried to release tension the further it sank in. I had to very slowly find a way to loosen the treble pulling into my pinky it was like I was in a trap. I was sitting in a kayak so I had to put my reel in the water to afford the extra space. It was a #8 treble and there were two hooks in there but I'll learn to respect the hook more next time. LWD
  9. I should of had a solid hook set then. I'll try to keep that in mind thanks.
  10. Greetings to you all, I used a fluke jr t-rigged as my bait today, the bass I was reeling in was holding onto it all the way up to the boat until it went under and got away. I looked at my fluke jr and it had appeared untouched except for a small cut. Why didn't the hook become exposed and hook the bass? I believe it was because I skin hooked my fluke jr too deep. I am guessing you got to bait it where it's barely skin deep. Or else the hook won't have a chance and it will stay buried in the skin. Thanks. LWD
  11. @K_Mac, thanks for your wise and sincere advice. It's worth it to know how to take the stories, lightly.
  12. Hello, Have you ever asked somebody else that was fishing the same lake as you if he had any luck? I do that often out on the water too I'd ask have any luck? The response however is like "Yeah caught 20 bass". When my total for the day out of 3 hours fishing is 1 or maybe 2 bass. On the same lake now, I wonder how these fisherman do so much better than me? Maybe they fished longer than 3 hours but there has been times when I know they are just catching more. I am fishing the same spot for an hour and I turn around to see in a boat a 6 year old girl that reeled two in. Makes ya turn around and laugh and question what could I be doing better? I reckon it's just where I'm casting. LWD
  13. Hope everyone is doing alright, I can't explain this one. I was sitting in my kayak no wind line in the water. Then my rod pulls. I wait dead still. It pulls again. Then when I pull back on the rod I discover it's a snag. Any of those mystery snags happen to you? Did it leave you thinking how could of this been a snag? Anyhow I hate it when fish take the lure under around some timber and get snagged well that's something different. Have a goodnight y'all. LWD
  14. Hi pondboss, don't know whether it's the lack of stretch etc... but my suggestion is sometimes it takes longer than 3 seconds. Let the fish swim around with the bait longer until you feel it hooked with certainty. Any sooner you may just be pulling the bait out of the fish's mouth. LWD
  15. I keep mine in a plano spinnerbait box. I don't keep spinner baits in it though. It has three separate compartments when I fish I don't bring the mother lode only a few pre-selected plastics that I choose just for the trip. So I got about 3 senkos and 2 lizards all in one compartment. Not much to carry around and minimizing space taken up is good. The other two compartments are swivels, hooks and sinkers things of that nature in case I have to re-rig due to a nasty snag. While the third compartment consists of mp3 player, cel phone and keys. Small and tidy fits in the cockpit of my kayak neatly. LWD
  16. Just google it. There have been zero fatalities by gators to people in boats or kayaks. Having seen a 12' gator in nature close by doing it's own thing going it's own way. Nothing to be afraid of at all. Just a bunch of fear exaggeration to me.
  17. Crestliner2008, Hello sir. I am using a senko 5'. Are o-rings and elastic goodys the same? A small circular device that fits snug around the thick worm that you slide the hook under saving wear and tear on the worm right? What is the gap? I found the weed guard spring on the Gamakatsu 3/0 worm hook a tad rigid. Not sensitive enough. I will try the Wide Gap Finesse Weedless hook and see if it's better. Thanks and happy hunting. LWD
  18. WRB, I knew how to rig a weedless worm or texas rig thanks. I like fishing wacky style though. No way to go weedless wacky without a guard.
  19. It's a Gamakatsu 3/0 worm hook (wire guard).
  20. Hey, I really missed a lot of bass today. I can count 4 times I had a bass on there good then got away. I think it was because my hook with a weed guard. I'd inspect it each time after I had a fish on and the guard would be tripped or open. One time I looked on the end of the hook it had a scale of the fish on there. You know it could of been other reasons but I'm just thinking it could of been 4 catches. Definitely going no weed guard next time. I'm not saying they don't work because I caught one using it. But I do believe they lower your hook up ratio. Thanks. Stories anyone? LWD
  21. deaknh03, thanks for your reply I am assured now.
  22. Hey, If I have a plastic worm on a floater and leave my rod sitting can I expect a hit even though it's not moving or do I need to twitch the rod? With catfish you can leave your bait like liver still not so sure with bass yet. Thanks, LWD
  23. How about it, So far out of 15 bass only one has been over 14 inches. Is this normal to expect out of public fishing areas or is there a bigger bass lurking? The place has been fished hard but numerous small bass are about. I reckon the chances of catching one over 14' inches is low because that is what the limit length of the lake is. Have a good one, LWD
  24. Thank you Sam, nice story about the spit up senko.
  25. Hey thanks RoLo must be regurgitation due to stress from being hooked. Jigfishn10 no problem!
