    No Where

Is what I was told by a fisherman after I told him that I hadn't been having any luck with the bass lately, he said they were no where. The lake used to be real decent for small bass catches, with the state every now and then stocking 5#'s. Cast after cast with nothing to show for it has me thinking that the lake has reduced bass population now. Should I inquire more info about it, or leave it be and wait for conditions to get better? Thanks
  2. Thank you LgMouthGambler, that makes a lot of sense to me.
  3. Greetings, This is a question. I was fishing with 10# braid using a baitcaster. I a felt a big bite and at that instant I go to set the hook the line snaps off at the reel. My suspicion of the cause was the braid being tangled up in the spool. Thats my conclusion. I retrieved the line with the hook and the worm out of placement due to the result of the bite. Is there anyway I could of kept my line from snapping, besides constantly resetting the line in my baitcaster?
  4. Gotta luv the rain, just after a rain don't necessarily mean the fish are going to bite. I bought a new rain coat from bass pro shops, specifically intended to be able to fish in all this rain.
  5. I haven't been catching nothing. I go almost everyday. Dang weather making the fish not want to bite probably. What's the longest time you've gone without catching a fish? I reckon they are bound to bite as long as I keep going. One day my luck will change. Could be tomorrow, but then tomorrow could also be another skunk day. It's the anticipation thinking your going to catch something. After the 100th(estimate) cast no bite, I usually start losing hope. Sometimes when they aren't biting I'll leave early. I hate staying around just casting for exercise. I never really caught a fish that way, when they aren't biting they aren't biting period. Staying longer I believe is futile. I figure it's possible, maybe conditions could change the longer your out there.
  6. Thanks for the advice you all.
  7. Hi, I was just wondering how quick does the scent on these baits go away? Like how often do I have to replace it with another worm? Or will the bass still strike it even though the scent has worn off it? Reason is first cast the other day I reeled in a 5#, is the worm I still have on there effective or should it be replaced with a fresh one, don't want to go through them too quick. Thanks for your knowledge.

    Magnum Worm

Hey I'm going to be fishing a 12'inch Manns Jelly Worm. I have a question about what to expect. When your fishing them do they only attract bigger bass?
  9. Hello. I bought this reel at wal-mart 2 weeks ago. I was eager to buy a baitcast reel. I'm used to spinning reels. I got 6lb stren mono installed. I set the adjustments on the reel for a weightless rig. You just take the side cap off it and it has a knob that I set to 1. I had many birdnests learning how to cast it, good amount of time spent untangling it. I know I can't cast overhead with it because it don't lob through the air it shoots straight at a downward angle. I can't cast the lure to the right side of me either it tends to go either straight or to the left, I'm right handed. I tried releasing my thumb early didn't get it to work.

    Bass Farm

Hi preach4bass, I know you just can't raise a bunch of bass and dump them in your local public fishing area lake. Thanks for clearing up my thoughts about natural reproduction and their numbers. I wouldn't want diseased fish in our public lake no sir. Have a good one.

    Bass Farm

Hello, how could I start my own bass farm? I would like to replenish bass into lakes what us humans take from it. I think their natural reproduction isn't enough to sustain their numbers. I know I can't do it all by myself but just doing my part to put nature back in balance would be well worth it. Is there already enough stocking going on or not? I know a lake or two that could benefit from a more numerous bass population. It's a big business I reckon. Thank You have a nice day.

    Rebel Pop-R

Howdy folks, My father bought me a Rebel classic critters pack of 4 lures for $10. One is the pop-r which is very lightweight and I can't get it to cast far. So I'm confused. Is it really meant to be cast alone without a sinker? I really need the extra casting distance. Thanks, LWD
  15. brownish on the top? My guess'd be a channel catfish

  17. What is the law on PFA's managed for trophy bass catch and release only? If you hook one in the gullet and it's going to die is the angler required to keep it or let it go? I don't think there's a cold blooded angler among us. I mean almost all of us are guilty talking to the fish we catch in one way. We love them but we also eat them my .2 cents
  18. Bass hear best at 100hz, all the way up to 600hz. I avoid heavy thumps, on bottom of boat etc. But conversation is alright. I would fish with my dad but he has his own spot I have mine. Sometimes I'll go and check if he caught anything.
  19. When you are using a #8 treble hook cut the right size pieces of liver with your knife. You can then bait the liver on the one and two points but the third point is tricky. You usually have to wrap the liver around the bottom of the hook to get it to stay on that third point. With a bit of practice you can get your livers staying on there good. But there will be the occasional nibbler catfish that nibble the liver right off each time. You don't want to cut the mushy part of the liver as bait you want the good looking portion..
  20. shucks if i couldn't fish, seriously probably just make more music like I have been doing. Fishing is a part of us.
  21. catch and release
  22. Haha this is still fishing right?
  23. baby bass on a c-rig
  24. You need light to see color and when it's dark at lake depths I don't think the bass can see color therefore the color of bait you throw don't matter. Do you think that's true?
