  1. You know when your fishing the creek if there ain't none biting, just keep moving up or down to a different location. I've caught several red eyed bream, 2lb bass, off a very versatile cricker hopper. 6lb line. Give some drag, you want to communicate with the fish, not force it in. And there it was, a submissive bass who agreed to land on shore. Fear has negative effects when fishing, best way to avoid a snag, gentle and slow. Like your communicating to the tree, like I can't believe some people are in disbelief that animals including fish have no feelings or senses. I won't extend on that. But a submissive bass is an easy bass to bring upon shore, and your commune with it, is what makes each individual bass special. I'm no Kevin Richardson the way he does with lions on nat geo, but just commune with your catch, I put a thumb gently in its mouth and it closed it's jaw, lightly, not as to consume my thumb, but it was hard to get the hooks out, it was uncomfortable, I talked with it and said everything gonna be fine and it senses my sound, and touch, it didn't go crazy Only when I forcibly mishandled it tried to remove the hooks it shook violently. But then my favorite part, releasing it, it was like ok i'm back in my habitat, pooof! gone in a split second.
  2. The time I fell out of my kayak in 49 degree water. I was setting the hook, as I set the hook my paddle falls into the water. Trying to reach for it while a fish was on the line made me go over board. I had my PFD and had to swim about 5 minutes to shore to find out my fish got off anyhow. Had to drag my kayak half a mile through a golf course to get back to my truck.
  3. I have a lake like this in my area. I fished there for 3 months with nothing to show for it. One day I was relaxing in my kayak deadsticking a senko, then it hit. I still get skunked plenty times going to that lake. But once in a blue moon they bite, and when they do its not uncommon to catch more than one. And the fish coming out of it are much bigger than the stocked lake fish nearby.
  4. Hey there, last fishing trip I seen a game warden at the boat ramp conditioning the bass for the lake temps before he stocked them. They were really nice fish about 10 of them 5-7 lb range in a mobile tank. One guy walked up and asked if he could take a picture holding up the biggest. Too bad I forgot my camera, I would of done the same. I forgot to ask what lake the tournament was held at, but the game warden said they were from a recent tournament that the anglers returned to the local go fishing center. There will be some lucky anglers this week catching one of those big fish. I may throw around and see if I catch one of them.
  5. caught my first bluegill on a lure the other day, 1/8 oz rooster tail. It was kind of like fishing for bass. It was the biggest bluegill I caught, size was from tip of middle finger to two inches below the wrist from mouth to tail.
  6. I have a red eye shad lipless crank that is silver and all worn out, I haven't given it a try yet since a friend gave it to me. I feel like detail does matter or else why would manufacturers go through the trouble of painting those patterns on there unless it is simply to appeal to the human eye.
  7. I fish on an 180 acre lake. There is only one bank I usually fish on that stretches about 100 yards. Often times I get skunked. But the other day the conditions were just right and the they were out biting.
  8. Alright thanks
  9. It is a KVD 1.0 bluegill
  10. Hey now Bassresource, Yesterday I was fishing I hooked into a bass after boating it I inspected my crankbait. Two points off the front treble broke off somehow. So I went home and put a new treble on there, but it is bigger than the rear treble on the crankbait. I just am concerned about there being two different size trebles on the crankbait, will it perform the same? etc. have a good one.
  11. Hey HeavyDluxe, thanks for answering my question. Next time I go fishing for crappie, I can expect I may catch a bluegill too. ,
  12. Hello Bassresource! Can bluegill be caught using crappie small plastic lures as well? Thanks, real new to crappie fishing, was just wondering since the lures are so small that bluegill can perhaps bite on them too?

    Capsized Kayak

Hi bassresource, I'm glad. Thanks. For the paddle leash, I could rig something like that without much hassle. Yeah who cares about the fish or equipment lost for that matter, its life that counts. I hear the body gets conditioned to cold water if you've experienced it before.
  14. Hello to all. I was fishing a few weeks ago in 49 degree water. 150ft from the bank I was in 10 ft deep water. I was throwing a KVD 1.0 Bluegill crankbait. Winds were gusting around 20mph. I casted out as I was reeling in I felt a nab at the line. Right as I was setting the hook the wind blew my paddle into the water. Something told me to reach for it so I did, at that moment I had leaned too far over to seize it and I tipped into the water. I remember submerging in the reservoir completely. I looked up and thru the murky bright green water I could see daylight. I grabbed my PFD, still holding onto my fishing pole. There was a chance that the fish was on. But I was hyperventilating due to the cold water. My kayak, a sit-inside was filled water and I didn't want it to sink to the lake bed. My tackle box managed to stay inside. So I started kicking and for a minute or so it felt like I was making no progress back to shore. However I kept at it and finally stood myself up in about 4ft of water. I brought my kayak up onto the bank. Checked my line, unfortunately the fish got off, as it had plenty of time to shake itself loose. Good thing I had been in good cardio condition, it was struggle out there and I ran out of breath a few times. What went thru my mind was, if I hadn't been in a Georgia climate, if I would of been in Alaska fishing. I would of died due to hypothermia. I didn't know my paddle could float, or else this wouldn't of happened. The wind blew it to shore eventually. Take Care.
  15. Hi, I'm a kayak fishermen, I draw the line at 15mph, but if its over 10 I know I'm usually going to have a hard time trying to cast and paddle at the same time. Anchors are good for holding my kayak still, One time I went out in fair wind around 12mph, but as the day progressed the wind increased to 30mph gusts and I could not make it back to shore. I had to land on someones private property and carry my kayak back about half a mile.
