  1. In in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Where is this lake located? What were you using when you caught this bad boy, that suckers nice.
  2. I bought the fluoro for cranking, spinners, and senko's.' I'm going to buy braid for all my topwaters. I can't remember the size of the rod i have, im pretty sure it's 6'6", w/an H20 xpress baitcaster.
  3. Thank you very much. I can't wait to go fishing with it. I'm selling my boat so will be doing alot of shore fishing, so ready to see what they can do. Thanks for the information.
  4. Just purchased from ***.com some 12lb camo green 275 yds Yp-Zuri Hybrid Fluorocarbon Line. I also purchased a Spro BronzeyeFrog65 in Watermelon Red. Just recieved them in the mail. This is the first actual lure that i have bought after reading through on the website, as well as line. What do you feel is the best way to work the Spro Frog? What time of day do you feel would be best? Based off of what i have read im thinking dawn, dusk, and night. Also, any times on how to walk the dog? Thanks guys, im pumped on actually having a good frog, so im ready to see what i can do during this hot summer.
  5. So with it floating and not necessarily sinking, would this line be better for senko'ing since you will be able to see the line on top of the water? Or not really have any effect at all? The reason i ask is because i just bought some, Hybrid Line Green 275yd 12lb. I'm not sure if i should of bought clear or green, just went with green because of the color of the main water i fish is green.
  6. Awesome, thanks for the replys again. I am not sure as to what type of frog it is, it's old, the hooks are still sharp though. I will be fishing Lake Eufaula this weekend so plan to use it in the morning. I was never able to make it back to the pond unfortunately to catch that monster, yet it will be happening at some point this summer.
  7. Awesome. Thanks guys. Like i said i plan to fish the spot again this weekend and will try some of the things you guys have said. I really hope i snag one of them suckers. I can only use a frog on this pond as it is just saturated in moss. Is there any particular time of day that is best to fish frogs? I figured that since here in Oklahoma it has been in the high 90's low 100's with no cloud cover that it would be best in the morning time or at night. Once again, thanks for the responses, didn't know i would get that much information.
  8. Thanks for the tips you guys. I may have to try and set it harder next time then. Like i said, the one time he did actually take it under the water, i guess i ripped it out. So i guess next time i just need to be more patient, wait for him to take it and rip the crap out of it.
  9. Was out fishing my Fiance's GPA's ponds the other day in oklahoma. It was an extremely hot day, no clouds in sight, and as windy as it could be. I was using a Purple Booyah Pond Magic Spinner in one of the ponds that is probably 2 acres in size, and caught to small LMB's, probably not even a pound in size. When we were leaving i saw another pond and decided i would try it before we headed out. It was little bitty, I could cast from one side to the other, to give you an idea of how small it is. Mainly because we have been in a drout as of late. This pond has Moss from the bottom to the top of the water, not a clear area anywhere, so decided to throw on the topwater weedless frog. I casted probably 20 times without getting any bites, decided i try it along the bank before heading out. Very first cast wack, a monster, he was probably 6-7lbs smacks it and i immediately tried to set the hook, while he was out of the water. Ended up almost getting a face full of frog. So i cast it out there again, bam, he smacks it again, and i set the hook extremely fast and miss him again. I throw it out there again, bam, he smacks it again, i let him take it for about 2 seconds, he's probably a foot under the water at this point and i yank on it. Boom, here comes the frog again. I checked the sharpness of the hooks, and they are sharp as can be. So what im wondering is how do you land the fish with a weedless topwater frog? I was so upset the whole way home, that i never landed him. It was my first time fishing with a topwater and actually getting a bite. I must say, that has to be the funnest way to actually land a fish, freaked me smooth out whenever he smacked it, but was exhilirating. I dont know if maybe the reason i would yank it out was because it was so mossy, or if im setting the hook to soon. I wasn't yanking hard enough to tear through the guy, but i just am dumbfounded. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as i plan to go out there and fish it again.
  10. My PB actually was caught whenever my lure was almost 2 feet out of the water reeling it in. As i came out of the water i saw him come from under the dock i was on, open his mouth and jump out of the water and grab it. I literally jumped back after being scared and he fell on the dock. No setting the hook, nothing, just fell backwards and bam landed it.
  11. I purchased the H2O Express Ethos 6'6" MH with also the H2O Baitcast Reel. Got it all set up and honestly, i dont think ill buy another reel. This thing is awesome. The rod actually has alot of feel. My manager was the first one to buy the reel about a year ago and told me that he will never buy another reel. The gentleman that actually introduced me into the rod is a Tournament Fisherman for North OKC B.A.S.S.
  12. The majority of my fish have been caught using Bomber Flat A Crank Bait Shad Color. I also have been producing a lot of fish, yet smaller, with bass assassins.
  13. Hit the water at 9 A.M. Was a little later then we were hoping but when we were filling up the boat and vehicle it took an hour due to slow gas pumps. So we hit the water, we go to a little cove that has alot of sticks and brush sticking out. 2nd cast i hook about a half pound sand bass. So we think it's going to be a good day. Absolutely not. The next hour and a half was absolutely nothing, then we find a cove that started producing small sand bass. We ended up catching a total of 13 sand bass, yet all small. The biggest was .74lbs probably 12 inches. We did catch a good size crappie. So if you are thinking about heading out to Arcadia any time soon, feel free to try a different lake, they just aren't hitting right now. We tried everything, everywhere and just couldnt get anything. They were jumping all around us, but nothing. Just wanted to give you people here in oklahoma a heads up if you plan to go fish it.
  14. http://www.bassresource.com/bassfish/bass_fishing_clubs.html Just scroll to Oklahoma and you will see the clubs around here!
  15. Thank you very much sir! I have actually fished Lake Guthrie in the past, caught about 4 2lb saugeye. Never any walleyes or anything else though. Fished it 2 times. We will be going there in the upcoming weeks for some catfishing. The dam on it is actually a great spot for catfish if you have goldfish or bluegill. I've been to Guthrie Lake and also Liberty Lake there in Guthrie. Both good spots with alot of shore fishing.
  16. Where is this little pond at, i would love to find it and fish it. We drove around yesterday for about 2 hours looking for ponds, but no one was home at the ones we found.
  17. Went out to Lake Hefner Dam (Oklahoma City, Ok) and decided to do some fishing. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to sunset. Lake Hefner is an extremely fished lake, so it's extremely difficult to find a monster. The fish that you normally catch are Hybrid Bass, Crappie, Walleye, and Perch (i dont count perch). To give you an idea about this lake, it's nothing huge. It's almost like an extremely large pond. Not really any coves, and right now it is extremely low, i mean extremely low. We were shore fishing on the rocks at the dam. So about 15 minutes in, my fiance catches a hybrid bass. Then she takes off, in the next 10 minutes she catches a total of 5 hybrid bass. The biggest was 1lb, average was right around .75lb. So we are about to pack up and just head to the house whenever her uncle catches this monster. I say monster because we usually dont catch this big of a Largemouth Bass. Especially out of Lake Hefner, when catching a large mouth is scarce. It was a 4lb'er. He caught it on a Green Crankbait that he actually found one day while fishing. I didnt catch a single thing, even after we left lake hefner and went over to a pond and tried it out for an hour or so. So hopefully tonight or tomorrow, since i will be fishing both days, i will be able to post up some pictures of what i catch. *If the pictures arent working it's because of the firewall at my job that's not allowing me to do it right, and i will fix it whenever i get home.
  18. Not a problem at all! Good luck out there. Post up pics of the monster.
  19. The following persons are exempt from the resident or nonresident fishing license: • Resident owners or tenants, their spouses, parents, grandparents, children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses who fish in private ponds on land owned or leased by such owner or tenant • Any person who fishes with pole and line, trotline or throw line in streams, natural ponds and mine pits in or forming the boundary of the county in which he is a bona fide resident, when using any bait other than commercial or artificial bait, blood, stink bait, cut fish, and shrimp. Source: http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/fishregs/licrequire.htm So you do not need a license, just make sure that if you are going to fish on someone's pond make sure to ask first.
  20. Nice, i may have to try and find it and ask the owner if i can fish it? If i dont make it out there, please let me know, i would love to find some good pond's around my area to fish.
  21. Thanks! So you probably fish Grand alot? Do you like grand this season, how has it been? Also, do you ever fish tenkiller, ive always wanted to fish there, never have, yet also dont hear much about it?
  22. I want to live where i can walk in my back yard and catch 4# bass at will lol. Sounds like you got you a good spot, keep posting the good sizes.
  23. Thanks everyone for the welcome! There is a pond on Main St & Mustang Rd right next to a library, that is supposively pretty strong. I have yet to fish it. If you find any good spots please let me know as i would like to try them out.
  24. Yeah, it's still a huge striper lake. June really is when it takes off so hopefully i will be able to get out there a couple of times next month and be able to land a few. I just dont like fishing with live bait really, which is what alot of them fish with. So im gonna try some spoons and drop shotting some senkos possibly. My fiance's mother lives in Mead, Oklahoma. They moved there and opened a furniture store in durant. So we are usually there once a month, and many times in the summer. You need to come back and fish it some more. Still lots of fish to be caught, just myself havent caught much.
