  1. So are you saying basically take the positive lead coming from the trolling motor, cut it, put on a crimp connect and fasten to the top bolt in the picture, then put another splice connect on another positive line fasten it to the bottom bolt in the picture and then run to the positive lead of the battery?? If that is the case, do I only do it one time for 1 battery or since my trolling motor is 24v does that mean I have to do this for each battery?
  2. Took the old trolling motor and boat to a shop here in oklahoma city. Going to cost $150.00 to fix my old trolling motor which will be okay as it was over $600 for the new one. While there they looked at my boat to see what could be the cause. I guess the circuit board has 40 amp fuses (i think they are fuses) and they keep tripping because the two trolling motors that I have require atleast 50. She said that I could probably run on power 3 all day with no problems, yet whenever I go to power 4 or 5 that's when it cuts out. She pussed on the little red "40" fuse and bam, it reset it, and trolling motor started working. Are these hard to change?
  3. Yeah, I plan to do that on Thursday if everything does not get fixed while at the shop. I currently have a laptop that wiill turn off if the power adapter is not in the right position, I adjust my foot and the laptop turns off. Honestly, I'm surprised I have not punched it yet.
  4. Thanks for the information dink, I used the tape routine whenever I did my fish finder, yet I used a ziptie because I couldnt find any tape. Thursday I am taking the old trolling motor to a shop to have them repair it and the gentleman there told me he has no problem taking a look at the boat and wires and see if there is a problem. So on thursday I will do that, then if nothing, i will replace the wires. Thanks for the help everyone, i shall keep ya updated.
  5. Hey, sometime even the obvious gets overlooked, yet yes, I did check it. I made sure everything was turned on. I put it on momentarily on all speeds and also continuios for all speed, nothing. The fuses were fine. The biggest thing that is driving me nuts is at the bow is where the positive and negative run connect to two other cables, that then run all the way down to the batteries. They are 6ga wires that run down, and everything is connected correctly. Cable runs from the postive on battery 1 to the negative on battery 2. Then 6ga wire positive runs to the positive, and 6ga negative runs to the negative. These batteries are also connected to the minnkota 3 bank battery charger. All fuses are fine, so I havent the slightest clue. Remember the old one worked, then stopped working, then turned back on a couple of hours later, then jsut quit for the day while batteries were fully charged. Took that one off, went and purchased a brand new one, it worked right away for almost 4 hours and now, it wont work. Recharged the batteries hoping that both batteries ran down and now it still wont work.
  6. Okay, So I went ahead and purchased an MinnKota Edge 70 from Bass Pro Shop. Went home and installed in place of the one that was not working. It works right after I hook it up, so clearly it was the other Troling Motor being friend I guess as the reason it did not work. Although, I take it to the lake on Sunday and after 3 1/2 hours of use on speed 3 with the occasional 4, it stops working. I assumed it was the batteries and just rolled on. I charged the batteries all last night, go to turn it on this morning and it is not working again. What could it possibly be. I checked the wires and it is 6 ga wire, so I have no clue.
  7. It is a Minnkota Edge 65. 24v with 2 batteries that are brand new, and the wire I believe is a 6 ga.
  8. So I went out to inspect what was wrong with my trolling motor, and when doing so I think I completely ruined it. Let me start off by saying that I inspected everything and there was absolutely no corrosion on any of the wires or connections, the batteries fully charged, the connections on the batteries were fine, all the wires were perfect, none were loose, the fuse was fine. I really think the trolling motor took a dump, but I am not certain. I guess I should tell you the issue it had, When on the water it worked for maybe 2 minutes then turned off, an hour or so goes by and it turns back on and starts working for about 3-4 hours, and then it cuts off. The batteries were fine. So I took the trolling motor prop off thinking that I could get to the wires from there, I was wrong, so i took the lower unit shaft off which exposed this big copper wired metal contraption. I took the metal contraption off and it showed the wires running to a circuit board? or something, and on that had to magnets that connected or something, I am not quite sure, someone that knows trolling motors will know what I'm talking about. Well I took all that off just trying to see if maybe a wire got disconnected, and I was unable to put it all back together. So 2 questions I have. 1. Is there a way to put that back together? I honestly don't think there is? Also, if I checked all the connections and it still did not want to work, do you think it really matters to even put back together? 2. I did not realize how expensive trolling motors were, and now that I am going to have to purchase one, I'm wondering what would be best. I am looking to spend around $300-$400 I guess and i have an 18'8" Skeeter. This will obviously be bow mount. The old trolling motor I had was 24v, not sure on the thrust. How important is 24v as it is alot more expensive. Also, does it really matter how new the trolling motor is, I found some good ones on craigslist but they seem to be older. Thanks.,
  9. Awesome, thanks for the advice. i will check that link out, and mess around with my fish finders next time on water. Yes, it's mounted on the TM. I guess that makes sense, just one time it was only reading like 1ft deep when we were in 10ft of water.
  10. Awesome, I will trace those wires. The cove we caught the majority of the fish and spent most of the day was the same as you then. Definitely a good cove, the entire cove is about 6-10ft deep and has alot of underwater trees/brush that come up to about 3 feet or so. We couldn't get anything to hit us on the actual cat tails themself, Me and a bunch of other boats were jigging the heck out of them, just couldn't get them to munch. They were hitting about 10 ft away from the shoreline.
  11. I do have 2 batteries connected. Also, here are the items that I was referring too. J084MK00694 J = 2009 Model 084 = Day of the year it was made MK = Minn Kota 00694 = Serial Number Minn Kota Edge 65/FC-45" L&D Brand New Elite 4x on the trolling motor. Brand New Elite 5 at console.
  12. Very nice, congrats!
  13. I just recieved a pair, and I love them. They actually fit my face which I was worried about, but most importantly it's like walking arond viewing HD. Plan to use them yesterday on the water, but it was so cloudy that they made everything too dark.
  14. Looks good. Knots is definitely a good thing to add.
  15. I am a newbie at bass boats and I took my boat out yesterday for an all day of fishing and had a couple of issues I wanted to see if you guys wouldnt be able to help me out with either of them. 1st. The trolling motor was intermintent. Basically, when we first got to the lake it worked for about 2 minutes, then just quit while in the water. I did nothing different, it went from working to not working while I was using it. While on the water I checked the batteries because I had brought a jump box that when hooked to the battery would let you know of the voltage, and they were fine. I checked all the wires and connection and everything seemed fine. Then after an hour of not messing with it or even checking it I decided to. I hit the button and sure enough it works. So I put it in the water and it worked for about 3-4 hours. Then all of a sudden, boom, it stops working again. I check the batteries and they are fine. So I'm a newbie at trolling motors, so I am not sure if they need to charge up themselves, if they run constant power off of batteries, if there are fuses in them, I have no clue. 2nd. Fish Finders. i'm new to fish finders and was trying to read them and got the jist of it from youtube but I noticed that near the surface there was always interference from the transom transducer all the way down to about 3 feet then there would be nothing all the way down to the bottom. Alot of white background mainly, the gps worked fine though. You never realize how much you actually need something that shows you where you have been on the water. Also, the trolling motor fish finder, just seemed to be off, depth was not the same as the other fish finder, same interference. So I will try and post pictures later of the transducers to see if they are correct or not. Any help on these issues would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Here are some pictures of the trip. As you can see in the pictures, I represent not only Tackle Warehouse but I also proved my name...Fishing N Boots
  17. Hit the water about 7:15am which was just a little bit later then I wanted to be. My goal was to be on the water when the sun came up, yet it was about 20 minutes after, no big deal. This was the first time that I was taking my boat out on the water other then the testdrive whenever I bought it so I was a little nervous. Luckily, she fired right up. First stop was the cove that Stew6371 told me about, atleast I think it was the same one. So question for you Stew, was is the very small cove that you can actually see in the picture that you posted on here, or was it the next cove past? We skipped that first little tiny small cove and went to the bigger one just south of it, Through out the trolling motor and went to work, 2 minutes in, trolling motor stops working. Both batteries were fully charged (I brought a jump box that could tell me the voltage), all wires were connected, so I am still not sure what was up with it. So I started off fishing a texas rigged worm, black in color with a yellow tail. I was fishing it sort of fast, and decided to slow it down a little. I waited about 6 to 7 seconds after the cast to let it fall all the way to the bottom, and sit for a second or two, then I slowly lifted my reel from my chest area to above my head real slow, and then lowered the tip letting it fall back to the bottom and sitting for a couple of seconds. I was not sure if a slow retrieve was the best option since the water temp. was in the 60's, yet it paid off. Around my 4th cast, I caught a good 2lber. So for the 1st 30 minutes I ended up pulling in 2 2lbers and my brother had nothing. We decided to move over and check out another cove, and for the next hour or so, we had nothing. So we left that cove and started hitting the points which resulted in nothing, but good news, somehow the trolling motor started working again. So since it was working, we went into another cove and started trolling up the shore, I tried spinner baits, jigs, the kreature, texas rig, crankbait, rattletrap, all doing absolutely nothing. I was like the fish just turned it off. So we kept at it, knowing they were in there and then my brother finally hit one on a texas rigged worm, real long purple worm, that we found in the boat from the previous owner. He pulls in a nice 2lber. So we continue to fish that cove and we catch a couple more 2lbers. We decided to try deeper water, and also try the north side outlet of the powerplant and didn't catch a thing, yet there were proabably 7-8 boats fishing there, I didnt like fishing that location so we decided to go back and throw some more in the cove that we originally went to. We get back to that cove and the dang trolling motor stops working again, I check the batteries and they are fine, so I'm not sure. At this point it's probably around noon and we both were texas rigging worms and senkos. I tried wacky rigging a sinko but had no hope. Finally I get one to bite and I pull in the big catch of the day which was 4lbs 2oz. We continued to fish that cove and caught some more. So it's now about 230 and we decide to call it a day. It was getting pretty annoying letting the wind push us into the shore, have to drive back to the other side, and repeat over and over. We were heading to leave and noticed the dock was pretty full so we decided to fish that little tiny cove that you can see pictured above. I throw out a little bomber shallow diver crank and hook something big and strong. The sucker was fighting me hard and all I can see is this white belly, and I tell my brother to get the net, because I dont want to lose it as this could be my biggest. Pull that sucker in and it's a 4lb catfish, that decided he wanted to poop, everywhere and on everything haha. All in all it was a very good day. This was my first time at Konawa, I really enjoyed the lake, other then having to hear a whole bunch of dirt bikes. I hope to be going back next sunday, yet I am not going unless I can figure out what is going on with the trolling motor. My biggest LMB I have ever caught was 3.5lbs, my goal that I posted in a 2013 Goal thread was to beat that, I did just that. So even though I am happy that I beat my goal, it was not what I wanted, I want to beat it, so my new goal is 7lb+ LMB. I'm not the best writer, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask away. If there is any advice on trolling motor issues, please throw some advice my way. TLTR (too long to read) Texas rigged worms was the winner for the day. Ended up catching 11 total. 10 LMB, 1 catfish on Crankbait. Largest fish was 4lbs 2oz
  18. Congrats! Those monsters sure are smart, it's most likely the pattern of stopping for 10 seconds before reeling that caught the sucker, not many people will have the patience to stop that long. I just hope 1 day I catch a hawg like that.
  19. Thanks for the information, will see if it can help me out tomorrow. I'm so excited, just hope that I catch one.
  20. Any tips/pointers? This wil be my first time ever at this lake. Thanks! I'm going to need it, haha.
  21. 5am Sunday, 04/07/2013, I will be loading up my new boat with all my fishing gear and heading to Lake Konawa, Oklahoma. Currently the fishing reports are saying that the LMB are Excellent and all other bass are good. So we shall put this report to the test. I should be on the water by 7:30am, I will try and give a detailed report of my outing. Although, I am a terrible writer.
  22. Well they both connect to the same transducer so i can switch as much as i want. $350 good for the elite 5
  23. well I was at Bass Pro about to buy one for 250 whenever I looked on Craigslist and saw an elite 5 for 350 which was $150 cheaper than Bass Pro so call the guy and went picked it up for 350 so now my question is the 5 has sonar and GPS with a big screen should I put that up with the trolling motor or put that by the steering wheel and put the elite 4x up on a trolling motor
  24. Wouldnt the HD grey scale make up for the normal grey scale.
  25. Awesome, thanks. The guy at bass pro was talking me off of the grey scales but I dont see the huge advantage to color.
