  1. You should look into the St Croix mojo bass Cranking rods.... they have a medium and a medium heavy model
  2. try using it as a trailer with a jig for flipping or try swimming it
  3. Thanks for the offer, i'll keep that in mind when i go up
  4. The main reason was for a way for the american companies keep up with the japanese styled rods when it came up with stylish looks (the originals like your daiwas). But for performance i can tell a slight difference in weight reduction, thats all i can really tell.
  5. Depends on your budget... if you wanna stay cheap go with a basspro megacast if your willing to go midprice try a basspro enigma (around$70) the enigma is being advertised an almost backlash free reel mamking appealing to new bait cast learners.
  6. Thanks, i did the reduces military license thing last year (but i took leave in july), i just wanted to make sure since im going up north earlier this year. Youre guys' news really made my day. You know of any bass fishing areas around Grand Rapids (if youre from that area) other than the Grand River or pickerel lake?
  7. Im in the Grand Rapids/Walker area, i dont have a boat here so im gonna do some shore fishing over in pickerel lake or maybe drive to gun lake. Thanks for everything. I just wanted to play it safe knowing how the northern states are picky about fishing around spawning time. Once again thanks.
  8. Im in the military (stationed in south carolina) and i'll be going on leave to michigan to see my parents from mid to late may. The DNR website said Largemouth season is the saturday before memorial day to (cant remember the date) but anyways, was that season for being able to keep the bass I catch or does that mean i cant even catch bass and release them immediately? im really curious, the rules here in south carolina are very different..... but i dont want to get in trouble when i try to take my brother fishing. So just to be on the safe side im asking for help.
  9. Try the Mojo bass rids by st croix, i have 3 of them and i couldnt be happier... what makes them great is that they have a rod for every technique (which is labeled between the split grips) i have one for spinnerbaits (7' MH), Worms and Jigs (6' 6'"), and Medium sized cranks Fiberglass rod (7' 4" M). I plan on replacing my quantum spinning rod with the st croix mojo spinning rods in the near future.
  10. I find that the best line is BassPro XPS Fluoro for everything but topwater..... if you have a line that you like but the manageability isnt there try using KVD line conditioner..... then for when im not using fluoro, im using powerpro braid (green for topwater, hig- vis yellow for flipping and pitching). I hope this helps everybody out.
