  1. Same reply I had but now I have nothing to say.
  2. There's a lot of options. Is there any brand in particular you like? How heavy of cover/lures?
  3. Due to your vague description of what rod/rods your talking about I don't know if your talking about the recons or phenix in general. I have only fished the recons so that's what ill address as I currently have the 714 and 764. Nothing in your post is even slightly true. In fact its the complete opposite of the truth. First off the weights are not only competitive but they are actually lighter than a lot of rods at and above there price range. Proven not only by the feel in hand but also the thread entitled recon rod weights on tackletour.com. Second balance is very good. They balance better than my comparable cumaras. Their exceptional balance is also supported by the thread entitled champion vs recon that puts there balance in the same class as dobyns and we all know how much people love the balance of dobyns rods. In fact of the two specific models the poster uses the recon has a better balance point. Also of the few people in the thread who have used both they all prefer the recons, and said they will be swithcing out all there rods. I prefer mine to my cumaras as well.So again not only do they compete in their price range but above it. Now on to the actions. Every manufacturer has their own ratings and tips. If they couldn't make a good blank I don't think they would have such a strong following among custom builders. The recons specifically are exactly what I expect and the 714 is the most versatile rod I have. I hate to bring up tackletour again but perhaps you would like to see the thread entitled recon question in which a loomis fan says the 714 is more versatile than the 843 and says depending on which line its a better buy.
  4. Lews for me. Have a team lews that I like a lot and will most likely be getting the low speed TP for crankbaits.
  5. Yes. It will stop the braid from slipping on the spool.
  6. Wow your a stand up guy. Buy the way my phone has auto correct. Which obviously failed.
  7. Or you could think like human being for a minute and let people who want to use it a good deal on a real the may already want.
  8. I don't like the ci4 knob either. The eva is ok just don't like the shape. I like the patriarch eva a lot.
  9. I took it as he is cracking the frame. Which is why I said he needs to change what he does.
  10. There's no need for a hookset that will break a reel. That's so beyond overkill its unbelievable. The reels are not the problem you are. You gottta change your ways.
  11. I've never heard of this site. Have you ever used them. I want to order an mgx but would like some feedback from people who have used this site.
  12. The cranking versions are in as well. They are listed under the regular section.
  13. I do not own one but the word on the street is your money will be better spent elsewhere. Based on what I've read about it I don't think you'll even find a daiwa fanboy who will tell you to buy it. The consensus seems to be its a souped up exceller.
  14. Yes, you can use braid with no problems with that combo.
  15. These days it seems most rods and reels can handle braid. Unless you using a $30 wal mart combo you should he ok. What did you want to pit it on?
  16. If your gonna have blind hate for a brand at least spell it right.
  17. Is it only on one rod? If so maybe there is a nick in one of the guides.
  18. In my mind a carbon handle is 99% Bling. If I laid my rod down and it was reel handle down and something fell/stepped on it I wouldn't trust it at all.
  19. [quote name='Tom D.' timestamp='1319732045' post='1041865' Better? I wouldn't go that far, aluminum is strong yet its better at absorbing shock. Can't say the same for carbon fiber. Far as durable goes, I'd stick with aluminum over CF
  20. Yea there rods are all pre-balanced "I think". All I know is what I remember from reading the thread. I don't think its a weight system.
  21. I'm not sure if what they do exactly what your saying, but there is a thread in here about a rod from "6th sense" I believe is the brand. Never heard of it before. They use tungsten somewhere in the rod to balance it. Not sure if its in the blank or not.
  22. Same story here but fewer rods. The veritas is the better rod.
  23. I would be interested. Depending on price and how they look. Can you make swept cf handles?
  24. I use polymer knots for everything but flouro. It's a fact that flourocarbon can cut itself when using a polymer. My logic is its not about the 99/100 that it works its the 1/100 that it doesn't work.
