  1. Hopefully I have a fish to add to the list by Saturday! Definitely have confidence with a ChatterBait in 40 degree temp, I only seem to catch them when I'm ripping it fast with a slight pause; works for ponds at least.
  2. Don't quote me on this but I remember seeing and reading on more than one occasion; with the sharpie you beak up the line, you do not color the entire portion of the line, so sharpie, braid sharpie, braid or however you want to do it. I don't remember the length.
  3. Hmmm.. Not sure maybe not I don't think they updated the contact on fcs page.. Message me it please. Trying to do this on my phone right ot working well.
  4. Well show me then, how about Thursday; biggest fish gets a free dinner.
  5. Thanks, I was more worried about the line breaking; believe me if I had time to grab the line I would, as soon as pulled her up or tried to pull her up on shore to go and grab it a few shake and shimmy's and she was off. J. F if I could flip this fish over I would, Im not exaggerating I think this fish is over 6! If I were to continue to pull her up more, not worrying about the line I would have probably been able to land the fish.. The other issue is I am about 9-10 ft from shore bc Im casting into thin water so thats a lot of line to grab and hold onto. As for the hook, Northstar makes excellent jigs and the hooks are super sharp.
  6. Gear; Irod Gen II Freds Magic stick (love this rod), lews tourney pro, and 20lb sunline flourocarbon; fishing northshtar 1/2 pitch and swim, maybe the name is wrong but close enough. I found this hog, has to be 6 pounds;flipped into a corner and watched my line move away, I knew I had a fish on and felt I made a solid hook set, but I wouldn't say swinging for the fences. As soon as the fish was on shore I tried to keep tension on the line and walk down and the fish just flopped around and flew off, I was extremely surprised how active this huge fish was with the water temps probably still in the 40's; then realizing my drag was not really locked down enough to pull a fish like this up shore.. I go back to the same area an start flipping, make sure my drag is set tighter; Im pitching into reeds, after a warm rain the water is high and fish moved up into cover in about 1 ft- with a 3-4 ft drop off nearby. The bite is soft, you cant even feel it, missed a 3 thinking I was caught on a reed, made the hook set too late; about 20 casts later Im hooked into this monster again, I felt a small tap tap, again I think I make a good hook set, this fish was in about 2 ft of water or less, Im probably 6 feet back off shore and I try to pull the fish over the reeds and onto shore; this thing is so big and there was a small incline I just could not get him up, reason being lacking confidence in my line!!! Normally I would be fishing 65 sunline braid, but I switched line and order a faster reel for my frog rod. So the main question is can you flip a 5 plus fish in a boat or on shore with 20 lb flour with the drag locked or almost nearly locked; and how should I have my drag set?? Im using a Palomar knot. I know this fish will be in the same spot, Im going back today; this will be the third day in a row!!
  7. People must not fish quality baits these days, if you think these are not durable then you are crazy, or you are not rigging them properly! I think they have okay action, if you like a slow retrieve then I don't think this is the bait for you, don't even think of fishing in cold water; if you bend the fins or if they incur any deformities they run like crap, but that can easily be fixed with boiling water. I purchased a bunch on pre order, I will probably never fish them as soon as I threw a keitech on I just cannot go back to the sick fish. Will these catch fish, of course but I think there are a number of choices that will out perform these.
  8. Mojo Rig, experimented for the first time with it; did the job!
  9. I just got one, have not had the chance to take it out and fish with it yet though but I cant wait. I did end up buying three of them after my first purchase of the 7'3 med heavy.
  10. On a drop shot I seem to always get broke off by pickerel. J Franko I've got you beat w the largies, I have no problem catching them :-) I almost didn't even want to name the Lake it is a hidden gem but I think boat restrictions still keep a lot of people away especially so close to conesus. I'll try the heavy spinnerbaits and jig heads. Thanks for the help guys, I also think the location of the Lake may be one reason om not catching them. I may have to go further North I havnt even caught one smaller closer to the southern end. I do have a lowrance fish finder a friend gave it to me but I mostly use it for water temperature and depth.
  11. I fish one of the smaller lakes in upstate ny Canadice lake, it's like a bowl with steep drop offs 30-40 ft; 15+ ft viability. This type of fishing is new to me I usually head to the shallows and fish the green backs but people keep telling me there are large smallies. Any advice on lures I've tried points w jerk baits, should I stay close to shore and drag tubes or parallel the drop offs?
  12. I have the same sportsman as fishing Rhino, I'm 160lbs and fish standing up all the time, it's the only way I fish. I also have a friend about the same weight and we can both stand and fish, I'm actually wondering how that looks from shore. I have also had someone as large as 350 lbs in the front I swear the seat was going to snap but it held up! I have a tone of gear usually bring 6 rods, one battery and a 55 lb trolling motor.
  13. Anyone drop a canoe in here and have any luck? I've scouted this park a few times just never committed to giving it a try.
  14. Sorry if I am being a pain but can you be a little more specific on some spots for the lakes/ creeks that maybe I can start from and work my way around? Or would I easily just find a spot to fish driving out there. I was reading about the alabama swamps, they are open to fishing but for Johnson Creek it seems they have designated spots for public access fishing. Im def going to be scouting these places out and doings some fishing in the near future.
  15. Thanks for the information! Im going to do a little research on the areas you mentioned and possibly scout them out soon! I see you are in the Medina area, where do you normally fish there? If your ever in the area message me up.
  16. Hey All!! Im getting the itch to get out and do some fishing. I am not a professional nonetheless do have some experience and love the sport. I have my own equipment, I am a small business owner with a very flexible schedule. Im 28 and really looking for someone age does not matter to either get out on the water or learn some local areas hotspots to fish from land. All my friends are either too busy, have families or have little to no patience. If anyone has any advice on where to go from land, I am fine going alone just need some direction. Thanks in advance!
