  1. I found a Quantum Smoke 5.3:1 online for only $173.00 that I ordered. I visited one of our local shops that had one of these and I really liked the feel of the reel, and especially liked its lightweight construction. I'll be pairing it with a 7'6" Duckett Micro Magic Crankin Rod, making for a Super Lightweight rig. I am a huge fan of the Duckett Micro Magic rods, I have only one so far, but I plan to replace all my rods with these at some point. I currently have: Shimano Curado 300e (6.2:1) on a 7'6" MH XF Shimano Crucial Rod (Flippin/Pitchin Jigs) Shimano Curado 200e7 (7.0:1) on a 7'2" MH XF Shimano Cumara Rod (Carolina Rigs, Texas Rigs, Finesse Jigs) Abu Garcia Revo SX HS (7.1:1) on a 7'0" MH Duckett Micro Magic Rod (Jerkbaits, Spinnerbaits, Heavy Topwaters) Shimano Sedona 1000FD (6.2:1) on a 6'8" M XF Shimano Clarus Spinning Rod (Shakey Heads, Wacky Worms) I love the Shimano's, I had a Shimano Citica also but sold it last week to invest in the rod for the new reel. I didn't care much for the Citica, but the Curados are top notch. I really like the Revo also, but its a challenge in the wind. Thank you all for the responses, I'll let you know how it turns out!!
  2. I have the Revo SX HS as well as a Curado 200e7 and Curado 300e. I've thrown carolina rigs on all of them and the Revo blows the doors off the Curados....however, the Revo doesn't get along with the wind nearly as well as the Curados and tends to try and backlash in windy conditions.
  3. I have a Shimano Crucial 7'6" Medium Heavy actually, purchased it locally here in Arkansas.
  4. My wife is going to purchase me a new baitcaster for my birthday tomorrow...I have narrowed down a few that I'm interested in and I would like to know if anyone owns any of these or has any experience with them. Never hurts to hear a few opinions... I already have a Curado 200e7, Curado 300e and a Revo SX HS, all of which I have no complaints about. I have narrowed down my choices for the new reel to these four: Lew's Tournament Pro (Speed Spool) 6.4:1 Shimano Curado 50e 6.4:1 Quantum Smoke 100 6.3:1 Abu Garcia Revo STX 6.4:1 I'll be using this reel for small-mid crankbaits and occasionally jerkbaits. Any input you may have for or against any of these would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  5. I get pretty good results with the Megabass Vision jerkbait on really windy days, working it across main lake points, shallow to deep.
  6. Hello everyone, my name is Jeff and I reside in the Central Arkansas area. I'm a newbie to this forum and look forward to making some new friends, learning a few things and sharing a few secrets! When I'm not fishing, I love to talk about fishing! I'm a small business owner in Benton, AR, a town of 30,000 just south of Little Rock. I maintain a local fishing blog called Live Well Tales. I also manage the Arkansas Fishing Forum. I work mostly online, but do some contract labor as well here locally. I'm happily married and pretty much blessed all the way around, I really can't complain! I enjoy fishing for just about all species, but spend the most time stalking Black Bass, Smallies and Stripers. The Striped Bass fishing in Arkansas is fantastic, so I do take advantage of it from time to time. I like to think of Lake Ouachita as my home lake, I spend about 50% of my time fishing it each year. I also spend quite a bit of time on Lake Hamilton, Degray Lake, Greers Ferry Lake and Lake Greeson. When I don't have a full day to work with, I'll fish smaller lakes near Little Rock like Lake Maumelle or Lake Norrell. Daytime, Nighttime, Spring, Winter, Summer, Rain and Snow...I've fished it all! I have a great fishing partner who I go out with most every time. Thanks for taking the time to let me introduce myself, and I look forward to some great exchanges with you all in the future! Good Luck and Be Safe Out There!
  7. Thanks for the quick replies! I went ahead and tied up the Albright knot, I'll try it out this week and see what happens!! Is the line to line knot a better choice than adding a swivel? Like I said, I'll be strictly wacky rig fishing this rod. Just curious...I figured the line to line would be stronger than the two knots required for the swivel, and I was afraid I might lose some action on the worm also...
  8. I'm going to spool my spinning rig with braid to try out this week before a tournament Saturday and was wondering what the strongest line to line knot would be for attaching a fluoro leader? I've been throwing 8lb fluoro for wacky rigs, but breaking off 5-6lb fish in thick cover. I'm thinking I can spool up with braid and use a strong fluoro leader and eliminate the breaks. Any help on the knots would be great. Thanks!
  9. I've been using the Megabass Vision 110 since early March and have been blown away by its productivity in the clear water reservoirs here in Arkansas. I've had the most success with the purple iridescent bellied baits, specifically the ITO Wagasaki. I refused to spend the $30 on one until I saw them in action. I went and bought one and caught 16 bass on it the first time out. Collectively these baits have produced around 60 fish for me this Spring. Unfortunately Walleye love them too, and I have had to scrap 2 of the baits because of damage from Walleye. If theres one complaint about the Megabass baits its there durability. They scratch up easily and the eyes will pop out. I have also had to purchase replacement hooks for them as I have had several break. Just yesterday I had the lip snap off on one the baits while retrieving a 2lb bass. But despite that, they have outperformed all my other jerkbaits combined.
