I rent a house every year for the 4th of July week on Thompson Lake. Have caught 3&4 lb smallies and largemouth. Ive had good weeks and a couple bad weeks. This year I will be more prepared with better electronics and gear. Hoping for a 5 lb'er this year.

Lake Massabesic has a pretty large parking area and a dock. Just don't touch the water.

Fairly new to pitching and flipping. Just curious do. You need to back off the tension knob all the way when doing this? Will this cause backlashes and require more thumb control? Thanks Tom

Hey all Here is a list of my set ups. Just wondering what applications you would use each for and if you would change any reels to match the rods. Ill list what I currently use them for as well. Would also like to know what set up you would add if you could add just one. I have no ML or H rods. I know I will get varied opinions but that's ok. Ive used Seguar Invisx and Red label. For braids, I've used PP super 8. Want to try something new this year. So far I've only spoiled up my Jig rod with 40 lb Trilene Professional. ( it was on sale ) Just wondering what your favorite braids and fluoros are. I know there will be many opinions about this but I don't want to waste money on crap line. Thanks Tom

Thanks guys. I think I'll try yellow and a light green this year. My problem is I've never tied on a leader and it seems like it would take a lot of practice to get it right. Looks like I have some work to do because I really don't want to always tie directly to braid. Do you recommend a long FC leader to go through the eyes or shorter leaders? Lastly is Alberto the way to go? I know there will be different opinions on this. Thanks tom

My 2015 season was somewhat disappointing. No fish over 4lbs and didn't catch the numbers I usually do. I was able to learn some new techniques and such but overall it was somewhat disappointing. Hoping to start the year early and fish with more confidence in 2016.

Heading up from July 4th-11th. Any advice on best kept secret spots? I figure to get in at least 8-10 hrs per day. Thanks Tom

Looking to see if anyone could give their opinions on what you would add for a set up and what reels ( size/ speed) you would buy for replacements. Basically looking to add one full set up and replace 2 reels. Casting: 6'8" MF skeet Reese with Lewis 7.1:1 7' MHF Carbonlite with Revo SX 6.4:1 6'6" M Vedetta with KVD 6.3:1 ( replacing reel ) Spinning: 7' MHF Field &stream with Pflueger 6.2:1 ( replacing reel ) Not crazy about rod either so may replace that too. 7' M Bucoo with Penn 6.2:1 I know this is subjective but looking for any input Thanks Tom

Thanks for the input guys. Wish I could hit Thompson in May. So you think July I should be fishing 20-30 foot range? I am assuming jigs, craws and the like? I'm definitely a better bank fisherman but am getting better at deep water. Mainebass, I'll be contacting you that week to see if you are around for sure.

There is a lake in my area that I fish that only has a public launch for fishermen only. Its the only launch on the lake. I have to buy a new key and register my boat and truck with the comittee. There is a contract and in it it states you need to stay 10 feet away from docks.( casting ) Of course I fish the docks though. : )

Anyone know about the water level on Pawtuckaway? Heard it was low and not sure if I will be able to launch on Friday.

I hit Onway in Raymond yesterday. Tried Rage rig, jig with rage, jerkbait etc. Had one bit but didnt set it. Water temp was 44.6. Was able to find baitfish and figured Id hook up but nope.
