  1. I think I'm done here
  2. I am just not used to fishing places where things can and would eat me!
  3. I would love to win, just going to have fun regardless. I think we would have an excellent chance of winning our division and who knows perhaps we'll even pull it off, I have had excellent days fishing on this lake, but really I get up and fish at all hours without "winning" anything but a beautiful day on the lake and some nice fish, so its all good. Now as far as pressure, I mean the if there are lots of boats I think I would feel more lost in the crowd so to speak, which I like, no one is going to notice or pay attention to me.
  4. Okay as a complete newb to the tournament scene I have a question. Would it be ridiculous for me and my son to enter as a team into a large tournament for our first one? My son and I were thinking of doing a tournament next year here in MN. I was thinking that it would be less pressure on us if we were lost amongst many competitors, you know, one boat amongst 155 other boats, we wouldn't stand out so much. Am I wrong, should we avoid such a large tournament? Is this a big newb mistake? I liked that the tournament had divisions and one was adult/child division which we would be in. I honestly don't believe we will be competitive, but we might be in our division, we just want to go out and have fun and enjoy a couple days on the lake power fishing and I get to spend some fun time with my teenage son
  5. Well, I'm going to blame my hubby on this one, but I'm the one that ended up looking stupid. About 5 years ago, we are trolling along in the lake, heading for our favorite haunts, but my husband wants to troll for Northerns on the way there. No biggie, we are tooling around and my husband sets the darn hook so hard on a bite that the tiny northern and the huge lure both launched out of the water and hooked me badly in the back of the arm. You know that soft spot, okay well you are mostly men, but the soft tender skin right in the back of the arm? Well I had a huge treble hook AND a fish stuck to my arm. (it was too painful to try and get the little pike off so I wrapped him with a ripped towel to my arm to secure it and the lure) This is before we had heavy duty wire cutters in the boat (we keep them always now) so we had to go back to shore with me, a big pike lure and a small northern all stuck to my arm. Ended up going to the ER with the lure inbedded in my flesh, thank God we managed to remove the Northern first Do you think I bring this up to my husband regularly ??
  6. Wow, I deleted my post, d'oh!! Well anyway, thanks for the welcome. My son and I are doing fishing opener in May. It is only opener for Northerns and Walleye, so we will be targeting the eyes heavily. We usually go for Bass, but we want to enter the Walleye Tournament next year as adult/child team and need to work on our Walleye skills (is it okay to talke about eyes on a Bass forum?? ) Anyway, we'll be fishing for Northerns during opener too and I'm sure we'll bring in Largemout as well, whenever we are fishing for Bass, Northerns seem to like coming to the party and visa versa. We release them anyway, so no big deal. Anyway I am fortunate to have a hubby that likes fishing almost as much as me and twice as fortunate since I have a Cabelas superstore within 5 minutes from home, hubby just shakes his head when I say I'm off shopping, he knows where I'm going, :D
  7. Hello everyone, I have been fishing for some time, over the years I haven't noticed many men being rude, most have been very pleasant, some of the older ones a bit condescending, but older men are just like that, whether your fishing or sitting down having a cup of coffee, lol, my father included. I don't have any women friends that like to fish the way I do, but I do have a husband who loves to go fishing with me and a four sons who love to go out with me as well. I was thinking as my boys get older and move on with their own lives about joining Women Anglers of MN. Nice to be here.
  8. Greetings
