  1. Not sure myself but I did buy one of the lipless cranks to try. I really liked the look of the Turnt Orange color and don't have many lipless cranks. Dicks had them marked down so I grabbed one along with my S-Cranks.
  2. I really like mine too. They are quality baits without the high price tag as mentioned before. I haven't switched out the hooks or ring but it hasn't seemed to hurt my ratio at all. If I fished tournaments regularly I would probably buy the Vision 110's or switch out hooks and rings like others have done but since I don't, I don't worry about it. Bottom line, these are good jerkbaits!
  3. Just a follow up now that I was able to get out and try this rod on Friday. I only threw a couple of baits, my Roman Made Negotiator and my Roman Trick Lipless. All I can say is this rod is absolutely ideal for these two baits. 2-3 oz . I wasn't able to get a bite so didnt fight any fish but really enjoyed throwing the baits on that rod. I have it paired with a Toro 50 HS . The reel is fantastic as well. This is a great glide bait set-up. I can't wait to get out with it again. Also wanted to mention I like the handle length and really like the eva grip. Its very comfortable to use for hours. So far the Fury 795 is a winner folks. Good luck on the water.
  4. I'm glad that monkey is staying at your place dude. He's been riding me hard this winter and I need some space! Lol...congrats on the upcoming rod! Get out there and get em' !
  5. Hey, thanks man. No, the Trick I am very pleased with as is. I've been wanting that Ayu color for a while. Now I need an Ochiayu but it's hard to come by !
  6. My Roman Made Negotiator that I sent to Pizz Customs for a custom trout paint job arrived today. He did an amazing job and I coudn't be happier. If you want a bait custom painted I urge you to contact Paul. He will take good care of you!
  7. I finally got to put my hands on a Phenix M1. They are sweet!
  8. Done and KVD can't be put in the same sentence until he retires from the sport. Does he know this or did someone forget to tell him? ha! Even the best doesn't make the top ten every time or it would be a pretty boring sport ..in fact the same is true in all sports. Fishing is so incredibly tough at that level. Congrats to Edwin who is a tremendous fisherman and a guy that I really like. Is he the best of the best? Well, I think he is one of the best but there are so many you can mention in the "best" category. It's who's best on the day at that level. KVD didn't make it, okay. Is he done? 100% no.
  9. My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend. Get it behind you and get back to bassin!
  10. Go to FFO and get an Abu Pro Max 2 or Silver Max.. Both around 40 bucks and the most user friendly casters I've seen yet for that money. I was shocked at how well that Pro Max could cast. I bought 2 more as back ups. The rod you can pick up anywhere , Walmart ,Dicks, Gander..The Gander Guide series is a decent starter rod for around 39 bucks..cork grip too. Just a way to save some money for more baits and still have a great little combo to fish with. Good luck and enjoy whatever you decide to buy.
  11. Sorry man, my fault!! I think that's what happened anyway...I could be wrong!! I was napping in parts ...LOL
  12. Ike is pretty entertaining but I haven't even thought about him on MLF. I have enjoyed it. I couldn't believe Hackney got beat after that unbelievable start. His area must have shut down tight!!
  13. I won't support a local business for the sake of supporting a local business if that makes sense. They have to earn my business. If you had what I needed at the time and I had to pay more I would gladly do so. If you carried a lot of the items that I like and use and your prices weren't over the moon I'm sure I would frequent your store but make no mistake, I don't shop anywhere with a dual purpose meaning I don't do it for me and to help them, I shop for me. So if that means I can save bucks and get what I want I will go to the place that has it the cheapest. Sadly you're right about the smaller brick and mortar stores being able to compete with the online retailers and Ebay but that's the way of it these days. I do wish you the best and I'm glad you're working in a place that you genuinely care about. You alone could be the difference between someone buying from you and not. The best thing about local shops is the interaction with patrons which we don't get when we're just pointing and clicking on the internet. So I'd say it's customer service and going the extra mile that will win you business. 30 cents more for Senko's doesn't sound all that crazy to me though I think Senko's are expensive either way. As for rods and reels I would guess those prices are similar to retail prices across the board. Ebay is hard to compete with there. I don't buy rods and reels locally unless it's pure impulse or I need it next day. Good luck bro, keep up the good work!
  14. TW has the Gamakatsu stinger hooks for those, just go on their website and search. They're inexpensive too. There are some youtube videos that show how to attach it to the top split ring.
  15. I agree with a lot of the folks in this thread. It just doesn't pay to be a police officer in this country in this day and time. Thugs and criminals want to get away with everything and " handcuff" the cops from being able to perform the job that's necessary and in a lot of cases it's called lethal force. If a white cop shoots a black man he's a bigot and a criminal now even if he's in the right and upholding the law. . It's a sad state of affairs indeed. If my example is too pointed then I still won't apologize because the truth is what it is, nothing more, nothing less.
  16. In ponds I always have luck with spinnerbaits and a floating rapala 2 or 3 inch ..
  17. Yeah, rods are always a chore and a costly item to ship. There's also the extra worry of the rod making it to your buyer in the same shape you sent it in. In other words, you just have pray the shipping company doesn't mistreat or mishandle your package. So you need a sturdy tube like the one TW uses for their rods. I do re-use these and never have a problem, they are pretty thick and tough. Or you could buy some PVC but you need to be sure the opening will accept the rod and whatever "trigger" it might have under the handle side. You'll have to cut the PVC to correct length. Also, if you want to sell the rod reasonably fast you need to sell it for a decent price that's enticing enough to get interest right away and you need to accept that shipping is the cost of doing business so you need to offer free shipping to the buyer. If you decide to throw a few bucks on top of your asking price to offset that cost for yourself that's fine, still offer free shipping if you get my meaning. Did you say easy way?
  18. Trey Anastasio and Jake Cinninger are my two favorite guitarists. Both of those guys are monsters!!! Just saw Umphrey's Mcgee in Asheville NC over the weekend..2 nights of them blowing the roof off of the US Cellular Center. Always incredible. Jake and the band were in great form as usual. Matt Jalbert from Tauk is pretty sick too. Those guys opened up on Saturday night and crushed it..crazy good stuff.
  19. You're welcome. Just my opinion of course. I know there are some fans of that rod on here and the Mojo series in general. They are good rods just not my cup of tea. I did buy the Fury 795 recently and love it. That might be an option for your A-Rigs. It's a MH-F , rated 1-6 oz. I don't throw the A-Rig and never have so I can't even guess what that rod would do for it. It seems pretty versatile though. Not too heavy and but has some backbone for sure. I couldn't be more pleased for what I paid!
  20. I thought the Mojo, 1st gen, was a little heavy and kind of like a telephone pole. I didn't keep it long, one trip out.
  21. Ouch! Agreed, the less I handle them around the mouth and gills the less I bleed! LOL
  22. Just be sure to use colors like bright pink, chartreuse, and bright orange....pike hate that! LOL. Seriously though, I understand the frustration with those little toothy critters. They can be a lot of trouble and worse yet, can split your hand open easily which is another set of potential problems. Good luck.
  23. I've had a lot of success with a grub/exposed hook...4 - 6 inch worm with a small weight exposed or t-rigged , craw , jig and pig...I just keep on going over the bed with the bait and bumping the fish as much as I can. I cast over top of the fish and bring the bait in fast and bump it..usually they turn around and hit the bait violently and I do this until they actually inhale it...this can take a while but that's my method...I know there are pro's and other guys on here with more refined techniques but it works, trust me. Try it sometime if you don't already.
  24. SR765R is one I let go of and should not have. Still sick over that one. There's a guy on Ebay that makes the 705 with some customized features, still the same blank. I had one of those too and loved it...sold it. See the pattern? I'm an idiot. Anyway, Cooks of Oregon I believe is the seller/maker. He said the 765 blank is no longer made unfortunately. I'm still looking for another one.
  25. Moreau 3 inch frog. It's a hard bait and it walks easily. A lot of you must live in areas with pads and slop but not much of that here in VA where I fish. I like docks, open water, rip rap, and wood....Awesome bait!
