  1. Good rods, I've had a few. They look nice too. I wish I lived in an area where deals like this popped up...here in VA we get nothing!! Walmart, Dicks, Gander, Sportsmans...no deals, no way....
  2. I think my 6'10 Crucial Spinnerbait rod is pretty versatile, I even throw that mini-alabama rig on it...the 4 blade with the chaser bait...it's a great rod.
  3. Rat baits are awesome, CL8 water vole,CL8 Possums, MS Slammers and Mini-Slammers, Thundersticks and Redfins...
  4. Thanks! Looks like the one! Great to know.
  5. Hey guys, thanks in advance here if I don't reply to all. I'm looking to pick up a Powell Max that is equal to the specs of the Powell Diesel 723. For the life of me I just can't figure out all of the different numbers and ratings for all of these. This rod will be used for throwing topwaters, some spinnerbaits, some light wakebaits... The 723 Diesel has done all of these very well with it's 3 power, mh....It also is ex-f which isn't usually ideal for these applications from my understanding... Any suggestions would be fine. I'm looking to upgrade but if nothing in the Max lineup is equal or close I'll just pick up another Diesel... Thanks again!! By the way, if anyone happens to have the rod I'm looking for, pm me with price ...I only have one rod left for trading and it's a Crucial Swimbait rod, new without tags....
  6. Hey Tom, reports are no one was wearing PFD's. As far as the tournament is concerned I am not sure that both were in it but both were bass fishing from what I understand. I don't believe it's been released or determined who was at fault yet. Not sure if one was moving and the other was fishing or if they both ran into each other....these things have not been disclosed yet.
  7. Yeah, I agree, he definitely gets a pat on the back from me when I see him next! He did a brave thing and thought little of his own safety...for this he is a hero in my book.
  8. Yeah, that's what I'm hearing Wayne. I am guilty of that as well as I think a lot of guys are...wear the PFD's until you get out there and then throw them in the box. I've done it too. Not a good idea for any reason really. There are companies out there making great ones that are comfortable to wear at all times so no real excuse not to have one on while we're out there.
  9. As the season is getting busy and more and more of us fisherman as well as recreational boaters are on the water together we need to be even more mindful and aware of safe boating as well as being very observant while we're on the water. Even more so at night..... Friday night during a local fishing tournament there was a fatal collision of two bass boats. The boat that struck the other boat had a man and woman and the boat that was struck contained three passengers. The third passenger in the back of the boat was killed and later found. He was a gentleman that played in my local APA league I'm finding out now as more details come to light. The striking boat capsized. The teenager in the boat that was struck quickly lept from the boat and saved both of the people from that boat from possibly drowning. His quick thinking and bravery probably saved their lives and fortunately, miraculously, no one else was badly injured. I know this young man as he is the son of a local bar owner and fellow pool player. What a courageous act. I wanted to share this not as a pat on the back for a brave young man but just as a reminder that no matter how careful we are or think we're being out there, we need to keep safety in our minds and make it a priority as we're taking to the water and the entire time we're out there! Please be safe out there everyone!! Common sense, good judgement, and obeying the rules of the water all go a long, long way.
  10. I'm building my collection of Chronarch 100B's now and I can tell you though slightly heavier and a tad larger than some of my reels, I wouldn't have a new one over them.....personal preference of course but if you get that Calais you will understand just how good these higher end Shimano reels are! And this weight people speak of won't be an issue once you put it on a rod and take that first cast...you'll forget all about it! I say get the Calais and the Lew's if you can but talk the man down some...I'm sure he'll negotiate. Good luck!
  11. 2 Late Bait Company - Once a fish figures it out, it's too late!! Thanks for the likes guys! I should get a patent on this before "it's too late" LOL
  12. I'm considering trying the Lamiglas Excell II for my thundersticks this season and some medium to shallow cranks,it's the 7 foot MH/Glass...I think it might be a good option for you. It's a moderate fast action rod , 1/4oz-1oz ...$99 at Tackle Warehouse. I'm pretty excited to try it at that price. I doubt I'll hate it.
  13. This is a pretty awesome post. Thank you for your objective and educated opinion on this. I think this price range is where the majority of fisherman are and try to stay within. Well put! In general a quality baitcaster can be had for around $100 with the point of diminishing returns being about $250. For spinning reels I'd say $70 and $200
  14. I say Curado G5 or Citica G5.....Both fine reels for what you're after. Very easy to tune and casting is excellent. Both had for around the $100 mark, Curado a few bucks more and the Citica a few bucks less on average. You won't be disappointed with either.
  15. Sounds like you did well. Go out and enjoy it. You'll learn how to use it and when you're ready to move up you'll do so. Sounds like you made a wise choice to me if you're just getting into this type of reel. I did the same thing back in highschool. I bought a Silstar from a friend of mine for 5 bucks....learned on it really well. It wasn't a great reel but it did the job. You're starting out in a much better place than I did !! LOL. Good luck and enjoy.
  16. Thanks for saying this. I think smooth and light are two things that are overdramatized in fishing these days. I have a Chronarch100B paired with a Crucial spinnerbait rod and I would say it's as smooth and light as can be....now you ask some of these other guys and they'd say compared to their zillion and loomis combo it feels like a brick....now that would be overdramatization the likes of young and the restless or days of our lives....but to each his own. I've never owned a Curado that wasn't smooth, e, g, d....all nice reels. I'm sure that new Curado is very sweet too. I hope you find happiness with your Curado, it's a good reel. Like someone else said, it is possible that you got a bad one but not likely. Good luck!
  17. I'd love to have the KVD L&L but seem to have a very hard time finding it....can someone tell me where it's hidden?? I won't order it from BPS because the shipping is just stupid.....and I don;t want anything else they have...
  18. I had my hands on this reel at Sportsmans Warehouse the other day. It's a sweet feeling reel. I will be buying one very soon! Like this afternoon! HA!
  19. The Chronarchs are great reels. Nothing to worry about there. I think the older ones are sweeter but that's my opinion. Also, the G series Curados that I have are pretty sporty, not sure what beef you had with yours other than you paid retail? Even at retail they are great reels. I prefer the E series but the G's with all of the gear ratios are great. Not for everyone I suppose. Enjoy the Chronarch! Nice reels for sure!
  20. I read up on both and the braking system on the BB1 Pro is the main difference I see. If I were you, I'd look on Ebay as well. I've found few retailers that have better prices on these reels......actually none. I love TW but if they can't beat the price then they can't. I save money when I can! Good luck.
  21. Thanks for all of the responses guys! I appreciate it. After much debate I just ordered another Revo Inshore. I was fortunate enough to find a brand new model of the older one, the silver one...which I know is awesome for these types of baits because I've had it. I absolutely love that Chronarch and now that I've spooled it up and thrown some casts I am sold on this model...it's an absolute dream. I will be finding more of these!! It's worth the price and then some! I put the Chronarch on my new Crucial spinnerbait rod for now. Very sweet combo!
  22. Thanks Raul, I will contact them to see what I'm gonna have to pay
  23. Those G's are really sweet reels...You'll enjoy them very much! Good choice!
  24. I'm planning on trying the Sunline Shooter mono, 13lb or Suffix Siege 12lb mono. I don't go much higher than that, never seen a need for it where we fish. No 15lb monsters waiting to take our baits... The line capacity was my concern. If I stick with the 13 or 12, will the capacity be fine with the standard spool? Thanks!
