  1. Just curious to know if anyone has the Tatula HD. I am planning to buy one for swimbaits closer to fall and wanted to know if anyone else has experience with these yet. Thanks!
  2. Tatulas are great reels. I have found they cast very far with little effort. This is what makes me want more. I will give the edge to the Type R though. I know it's been said the difference may not be worth the extra dollars if you're talking retail but Ebay prices aren't that much higher on the R. I'll have more Type R's at some point, at least one to add back to the collection.
  3. X2 ..Fish Ranger, Call Cody, hooked up. I have two of these and they are great crankbait rods. $49
  4. I buy and sell on Ebay frequently and have been for many years. It's fairly easy to determine who you should deal with and who you shouldn't. I will buy from those who have many transactions and high ratings, for me that's 99 to 100%. I look for grammar, condition of item, look at their feedback. There are buyers who are unreasonable so if there is negative feedback for someone who has an item that you want you can read it to see what happened and if it was warranted or makes sense against all of their positive feedback. You can usually tell if it's some yahoo that just wants to be difficult. Most of the time it will be someone with few transactions that does this type of thing from what I've seen. Most people that sell on Ebay are concerned about having a good reputation so they can continue to do business on there. I wouldn't hesitate to buy on Ebay but you have to use common sense, good judgement, and do a little research. In the end, you have to have a little faith as well but I would wager that 99% of folks are going to treat you right on Ebay. That's been my experience anyway.
  5. So you are night fishing with this bait as well? I'll definitely fish it at night if that's the case. I guess it doesn't matter how small the bait is really.....just didn't think of it as a night bait
  6. I bought my Lews spinning reel for $59 locally. It's the SGH300. It's black and red and looks great on my Diesel spinning rod. It performs very well in my opinion.
  7. This example is something to consider. A garage is a likely place to find tools and fishing gear yes but not everyone has that much gear in their garage so the odds that this is just some random robbery seem low in my estimation. Consider the folks you know and those that knew your gear and tools. Watch local craigslist adds as well as advising local pawn shops.I'm sure you've probably covered these bases but always good to do these things. I hate to hear this man, it's really sickening. There aren't words to fix things like this. I wish you all the best and I hope your insurance company gets on this quickly for you.
  8. Thanks guys, this has been very helpful and informative. It sounds like I can save some cash and probably won't be buying a Steez as I really don't need it. The older Zillions have been on my radar for a while and if they are as good or better than the Tatula and just easy to cast I don't think I can go wrong there. I might just buy some more Tatula Type R's for that matter. Thanks again!
  9. Oh yeah, I have one. Last year me and my buddy were out on a night trip and throwing top waters for bass and striper. I hooked a big bass and my buddy did a great net job but he layed the net with bass in it on the deck of the boat which meant the net was rendered useless at that point...he layed it down quickly, went back to fishing and the bass flopped once and over the side of the boat before I could get to it.....it was over 6 without question. He's competitive and I know secretly he was glad to see it get away but that was ridiculous... I was angry for sure.
  10. Yes, thanks, I fixed the title. Thanks for the info as well. I was hoping for a trouble free at that price point. I'll see if others chime in on this. I've had zero casting or backlashing issues with the Tatulas unless I dial way down. Otherwise I was casting a mile with those without worry. Thank you.
  11. Hey folks, I've been toying around with the idea of buying one of these reels for my spinnerbait rod but reading a Tackle Tour review it sounded as if this reel isn't ideal for the application but more so for jigs, worms, etc. Before I decide to put a few bucks back over the next month or so to buy one of these I just wanted to get some opinions from Steez owners on this. Why would this reel not handle spinnerbaits well? I am planning to buy another Chronarch 100BSV tjhis week but the Steez was/is next on my list. Thanks guys!

    Ms Slammer

Welcome to the Slammer club! They are awesome baits for sure. Congrats and catch some pigs! I love the anticipation of the strike on that bait or any large wakebait. I just keep casting until I get my reward! Worth it!
  13. I use spinnerbaits all year long. Never neglect them
  14. You might check that Fury 795 Dobyns. Looks like a winner to me. I'm getting one of those for Hudds and also another Okuma Guide select MH for rats, slammers, and other big topwater baits. I think it's good to have two swimbait rods. One that is stiff enough for backhook baits and one that will handle the big treble hooked baits too. That's just my thinking. I do think either of those rods will do it all pretty well and both right there in your price range. I guess TW has the Fury? Maybe they don't. If not, Okuma all the way,
  15. Good to know! I hope you sent in some feedback to Strike King. I'm sure they would welcome it.
  16. I've done well on the Strike King buzzbaits but the KVD I have no experience with yet. Let us know how your experiment works out. If you still aren't happy you might try the Cavitron buzzbaits. I use those pretty much exclusively these days and I do quite well with them. I don't lose many fish on them.
  17. Other than a Loomis spinnerbait rod(which I love) all of the rest of my rods are Powell Diesels and are a mix of the old and new model. All considerably cheaper than $100 and all fish above that pricepoint in my opinion. I absolutely love the Diesel. No need for a warranty if you don't mistreat your equipment. And big deal if my Diesel that I paid $50 for breaks...I get another, or two more. So far I've broken one rod in my entire life and that was in the bed of a truck, not boat flipping a 5 pounder or trying to jerk an entire tree from the bank to dislodge my bait.....LOL
  18. Top water thundersticks, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, crankbaits, jigs, power worms
  19. This is another good reason and Glenn had mentioned this is as well. While some of you may be in a state that is less strict about such things there are others where they will get popped without any discretion being used by the law at all. As many times as I've been approached by the "Resource officers"? Wardens here in Virginia when I'm doing nothing at all but fishing , I am always glad not to have alcohol as a reason for them to scrutinize me further or worse yet, arrest me over what, a beer or two? Not worth it at all. If you can't be satisfied with just going fishing to fish then I just don't get it. If you can do it and get away with it and not be a danger to yourself or others...go for it! I don't judge anyone or think it's right or wrong but I won't be doing it myself.
  20. Just got the Loomis E6X Spinnerbait rod and it's fantastic. I was going to buy the Megabass spinnerbait rod but just didn't want to spend the extra money...I'm very pleased. I have thrown the Quadzilla on it but that's hardly an A-Rig..
  21. I think most of the bass I catch are blind too Hootie...or they are on their way somewhere and happen to run into my bait....lol
  22. If you've tried the Cl8 mighty mouse or vole you'd probably see the potential...both are small and catch big fish. I love them. The mighty mouse I throw on a spinning rod and I've caught a ton on it. It's awesome! I'm sure the small rat will be great. I will buy them for sure!
  23. Yeah, the weight range sounds fine but if that Winch is the cranking rod it might not be suited for such a bait. Never held one or played around with it. If this helps, the Diesel isn't rated to handle anything over 3/4oz yet it lays that rat out there very well with little strain at all. It's a MH/XF but with such a nice forgiving tip it handles all treble hooked baits well and also does a fine job with jigs and plastics. It's a great rod for a do it all rod. It might not be the perfect rod for the rat but I haven't noticed much strain at all. Try it and see, I think you'll be fine. That rat doesn't seem to be 2.5 oz to me but that's what they say it is. It's light.
  24. You can throw the current SPRO Rat on any MH rod. I am throwing it on a Powell Diesel 723 and it casts it well and handles it just fine. I found that a heavy rod works against this bait and isn't much fun to use with this bait. It's really not very heavy. So don't think you need a big swimbait rod to throw it. Just ain't true
  25. This might sound ignorant but is a chattebait the same thing as a bladed jig, just a different name? I am going to get some from someone on here and can't wait to try his baits but just curious to see if these are one in the same type of bait? I've owned chatterbaits in the past but always had trouble keeping them running and vibrating...what's the solution to this problem? Just a straight retrieve or stop and go? I saw the Picasso bladed jigs the other day at a local retailer here and they looked great...same as chatterbaits? Thanks!
