  1. For me this is not a budget rod but I will try one for sure. I've been wanting a MB rod for a long time. I am assuming it will be the same deal as the Fury...better get one while you can when they come out or be prepared to wait several months for them to actually make enough to sell to everyone who wants one.
  2. Good article for sure. Thanks for sharing Glenn.
  3. That's a tough break Tom. Sorry to hear that indeed. I agree, they are on the hefty side. I own a baby possum like I had before and don't throw it a lot. I do in open water and shorter casts to targets but not at night for the reason you brought up. I've beaten up expensive baits enough on rocks and docks. I've banged that spro on everything and so far no damage worth mentioning. A few scratches and chips. I would not go as far as to say its disposable at 30 bucks but I don't sweat it at all compared to more expensive baits.
  4. SPRO is kicking butt with those rat's I have to say. I'm 100% sold on them and will buy more. Can't wait for the smaller sizes too. Excited! I think you'll be impressed. You can get in touch with Clayton at CL8 baits and he will make you a Possum if you're interested and can't find one. I only have one right now and I love the thing. I wanted to get more but I'm just stretched financially right now. We had been talking about some custom Possums and it got me stoked but my wallet has me un-stoked He's a great guy and will deliver. Check out the CL8 Vole also. Great bait, can be thrown on regular bass gear and it gets bit. Not a bad price, around $30 or so.
  5. I know less than most but if you don't give the SPRO Rat a shot for $29 bucks I think you're denying yourself a great fish catching opportunity as well as a chance to save some cash. I love mine. I own CL8 baits , Bettencourt , an El Raton, and some others. The SPRO has produced as well or better and it's been a blast to throw. I throw it a lot and I've done well. I've caught dinks and pigs. Just a suggestion. Smaller versions are coming soon as well.... The SPRO rat is no joke and priced really well.
  6. I own the E6X Spinnerbait rod and love it. The Zodias I handled at a store here locally and thought it felt and looked really sweet. I just didn't have the money to pick it up at the time. I think you'll like either. The model I handled was a 7'2 MH-XF if I remember correctly. Crucials are nice rods and I've owned several but they aren't my favorite to be honest. Nothing wrong with them at all and a lot of folks love em'. I don't think you'll be disappointed in any of these choices. Try to handle them all before buying.
  7. Because I don't throw a squarebill a ton I'm using my Powell Diesel 705 Glass. It's pretty sweet and keeps fish buttoned up well. I paid a whopping $49 for it. It's great to have this as a dedicated rod since I don't have much invested. I wish Powell hadn't discontinued that red max series. I want another 7'11 crankbait rod like I had before. It was the best cranking rod I've owned. Just ordered another Halo cranking rod for crankbaits, mid-deep.
  8. The night tournaments we fish in still bring in pretty hefty bags in July and August even when the temps are hard to take. Deep brush and ledges, docks on main channel and main channel points... buzzbaits, t-rigged worms, jigs, carolina rigs, and cranks. Works well.
  9. I too get irritated when the fishing shows get replaced with hunting shows. This is marketing though...getting everyone pumped up for fishing in the cold months and then getting everyone getting pumped up for hunting in the hot months....annoying. I don't hunt, never will, don't care and won't. I guess for most folks that fish they all also love to hunt so probably not a big deal to them.
  10. I think it's natural for most fisherman to feel this way even though we know that losing that fish isn't a drop on the grand scheme of things bucket. I think it just says that you have compassion and are a good person in general. You care about and respect nature. Better to feel that way than feel nothing at all I'd say. I always hate to see it happen and it's happened a few times over the years that I've been fishing. I once spent an hour trying to revive a striper that someone had broke off and it had gotten tangled up with the line in a large tree. I finally got the fish back to where it needed to be and seeing it finally swim off felt amazing. Keep on keeping on sir!
  11. My question about these is about the size of all of their baits, are all of the Revenge spinnerbaits compact in size regardless of the weight? Just curious. They look pretty awesome and reviews are very good. I am a War Eagle man but wouldn't mind adding this line of spinnerbaits to the arsenal. I have enough War Eagles for now so might start piling these on before fall gets here..... Thanks for any input guys!!
  12. Around $70 for a Triple Trout. I've caught several fish on it but don't use it very often. If I had a boat and more time on the water I would dedicate more time to just fishing it when I went out.
  13. I don't know but I won't ask until the day he's asking why I do something on the water....I guess my opinion might matter then. LOL!! KVD = Bad arse!!
  14. Tatula 5.4:1 is a great cranking reel. Bombs your baits out there with ease and nice, smooth and powerful retrieve. I think you would be very pleased. Can be had for $99 shipped.
  15. There was huge pond that we used to fish back in the day that had gin clear water and big bass. During the day you were lucky to get a decent bass but at night we could go and throw spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and catch a lot of fish, and big ones as well. Those were exciting nights. Try a spinnerbait or buzzbait at night and see if you have some luck. I think you will. Good luck!
  16. I can't get past the grips...just feels weird to me. The rod itself fishes and feels great otherwise. One of my fishing partners has a few. I'll have to alert him to this. Thanks for sharing! That's a great price on those for Rage fans for sure!
  17. It never surprises me in any situation, anywhere these days that people have no regard for others, respect, or upbringing. I see it at work, on the road, out with friends, at the grocery store, the mall, and definitely on the lake. Yes, I would've ignored the jerk and done nothing but I would have been raising hell to myself about what I would love to happen to him. I had a guy on a seadoo pass me and then cut right in front of my boat a couple years ago and he was grinning. The things I wanted to do to him are unmentionable here but I did nothing. If you fish during the day in summer time you're just inviting frustration. Of course I know pro's don't have a choice. So unless it's raining and ugly during the day I don't go in the summer. Rainy days are my favorite kind of days! All of the wake boarders, seadoo's, jet skiers, pontoon boats, cigar boats , pleasure boaters, and all of the idiots that run those things are at the house crying and I'm out fishing in relative peace . otherwise, I like to get on the water around 7:30 or 8 in the evening and fish til 5....can't beat that in the summer!
  18. A buddy of mine eats every bass he catches...to me that's silly considering he can afford to eat anything he wants but that's his deal, not mine. He gets mad when I release my fish but I won't let him eat mine...drives him nuts but I enjoy it! LOL . It would be a shame for that fish not to be released if it was perfectly healthy and could have survived but I guess we don't know all of the details. And if it was legal to keep it then that's completely up to the person who caught it whether we like it or not. Nice bass though! I would have taken pics, weighed her and measured her, and let her go if at all possible. If she was obviously going to die then I suppose I'd take her with me to show some folks and then off to have her mounted.
  19. So if the razorback sucker disappears, who loses? I've never seen any baits specifically targeted or marketed for these fish so they can't help the economy....is there a razorback sucker circuit ? I won't ask about clubs because there's a club for just about anything.... We can't save everything!! What are the benefits to saving all of those species that I've never even heard mentioned before now? I'm not saying they aren't important or because I've never heard of them that they aren't...I just want to hear about what makes them so important and the sportfish that we covet so unimportant in that particular place....
  20. So far I love my E6X spinnerbait rod. It's great quality all the way around and it's been excellent to fish with. One of my spinnerbaits broke on a fish and so far that's the only fish that's come unbuttoned on that rod. I seriously doubt you'd be disappointed but if you're buying a Dobyns Champion then I don't expect you'll be disappointed there either. Enjoy.
  21. Powell Diesel 765, Curado G7, 14lb Sufix Elite
  22. Very good little reel. I've had good experiences with all of the Pflueger reels I've owned. Summit, President, Supreme, Patriarch...all good.
  23. I'm at the mercy of whoever has a boat and when they can go. My financial situation won't allow for a boat right now so I'm land locked myself most of the time these days. So don't feel like you're alone. If you fish for bass you're in the right place.
  24. Can't wait to hear about it!
  25. I don't recall paying shipping but if I did it wasn't much. Their site has been down for a while so just Google them and call the number. Cody is very helpful and kind. They have a lot of the old diesels left. I have new and old and like both.
