  1. Glad to see some responses with similar experiences! The first cast I made with that buzzbait on the 7'6 and I was amazed at the distance. Never throw one on a short rod again! I made my St Croix Rage 7'6 MH MF my dedicated buzzbait rod and it's not disappointing at all. The Carolina Rig rod was great for it but I have several uses for it already that I need it for. The Rage is doing an awesome job. A bit heavy compared to my other rods but its a sick stick for sure and it sticks em good on the buzz.
  2. I have the Orochi Leviathan and I haven't used a lot so I'm still not sure what the sweet spot is. I'm guessing around 4 oz. I love the looks of it but can't say I've been wowed by feel yet. Once I get a chance to throw a variety of baits I could tell you my thoughts. Just can't say I'd drop 325 to get another one yet. Plenty of swimbait rod options out there. Don't rule out Dobyns Champion or Irod. If you arent throwing huge glides I'd buy a Dobyns Fury 795. I have 2 of them and love them. If you want the Champion 795 go for it..2 handle lengths available. Good luck!
  3. I see a lot of videos and threads about rods for buzzbaits and some guys throw them on short rods for target casting and some like something up to 7'4. Lately I started fishing buzzbaits again and because my Carolina rig rod was open i just tied it on there. 7'6 MH MF ..wow, caught 2 fish in 3 casts and this rod is amazing for this. I've caught quite a few on it since then and not lost a fish. It chucks the buzzbait a mile which is ideal for me. I just haven't heard of anyone throwing them on a 7'6 but I'm telling you its the bomb. I can still target cast with it well enough too. What are you throwing them on? Have you tried a 7'6 ?
  4. I love wakes..I throw them on points, lay downs, flats, parallel to rip rap...all over. My favorites are the Deps Buzzjet, Megabass iloud, Megabass ijack, storm thunderstick and redfins. After that, rats- Nez, Cl8 vole, LunkerZ Jitt-r-Ratts
  5. Hey guys, I'm just getting back to more conventional fishing tackle rather than fishing swimbaits all of the time. I have another boat and excited to get back to Texas rigs, cranks, and basic conventional tackle. I've had some success on texas rigged creature baits recently and caught some good fish on a 3/16 , 4/0 ewg, and a creature bait but I'm fishing anywhere from 8 to 20 feet of water at any given time. 3/16 I know is lighter and has its benefits as far as presentation, fall rate is concerned. Can I get away with bumping to 5/16 instead for these depths? Its better feel for the bottom for sure... I know there's no stock answer but would love to hear opinions. Thank you all!
  6. I'd rather have the 7'3 but honestly the 7 MH glass seems fine. Ratings aren't that different. Obviously a few inches shorter but I'm not ripping chatterbaits through the grass and all that. Not much or any grass where I'm fishing most of the time. And I can cast far enough with a 7 foot rod. Thats what I'm doing. If I'm not happy I'll just get the 7'3 down the line..
  7. Thanks! More info than I've been able to find so far !
  8. I noticed that the 7MH Glass Evergreen Combat stick is labeled as a Crankbait and Bladed Jig Rod. The 7'3H Glass rod is the Jackhammer Chatterbait rod. Has anyone fished these to compare or specifically fished the 7 MH Glass as a chatterbait rod? Thanks guys!
  9. Love the Ark rod I have. They are quality based on my limited experience. Thanks guys , I appreciate all of the detailed responses. I am deciding between the Sierra 703sf and the Avid X 6'8 M XF ..handled both tonight and like both. I'm leaning toward the Sierra but that Avid X is sweet too. Much appreciated and I'll update tomorrow when I go back out and pick it up.
  10. I decided to try it and I'm definitely going to order another one. The Lancer Pro is light, and it's not flashy at all. Very clean look and balances so well with my Curado 200. I love it.
  11. Hope you're all healthy and doing well. Just looking for some recommendations here. I know there's not an ideal rod that does it all but I just bought a combo that covers Medium light finesse duty and I wanted another spinning combo that bumps up a bit in power but not overly so. Not high end here but I would like to throw some Texas rigs , whacky rigs, heavier nekos, and jerkbaits.. I have a 2500 Daiwa Exceler coming to pair with it... Throw out some recommendations based on your experience. I would go up to $175 but wouldn't be opposed to sub 100 or in that range. Medium Extra Fast or Medium Heavy Fast ? Thanks in advance !
  12. I recently picked up an Ark Lancer Pro, 7'2 MH-M and I have to say for an all around rod its been pretty amazing for $99. Can't say a bad word about it.
  13. Thanks sir. Will do! Much appreciated.
  14. This might be dumb considering DVT is a sponsor but he is still doing business? I knew I would be helpless when trying to do my handle upgrade on my Shimano and a 5 minute job has turned into a miniature disaster with springs and little parts going here , there, and everywhere. I just need to send it to someone who can put it back together. Thanks guys.
  15. War Eagle is the only spinnerbait I use. Scary prospect. Time will tell. I guess I'm picking up what I see locally just to have some back stock.
  16. Yeah man, I apologize. I don't think you're wrong at all. Head Trauma is a real problem that exists beyond the initial superficial injury or incident. I am all for anything that can prevent or decrease these unfortunate incidents that can ultimately lead to serious, lifelong problems. Families are always a casualty of these events and it is sad to see.
  17. There's only so much anyone can do for someone who chooses to play a sport where head collisions occur as part of the sport or as a result of accidents that commonly occur as a result of the nature of that sport such as football or x-games, extreme sports. It is a tragedy what happened to him as well as others who have suffered similar fates. I support anything that can be implemented with advanced equipment where safety can be increased and head trauma can potentially be avoided or decreased but let's face it folks, people today are so much quicker to blame this or that and now everything is so regulated...kids in football...now I see they're talking about how kids are hurting their arms in baseball with pitching and "throwing themselves out of the game". Where are we going folks? Seriously? Sports are hard on your body!! They always have been and always be. If one chooses to be a part of it let them make their own decisions and let them deal with the consequences of those decisions. Isn't that part of freedom in this country? Again, I'm all for any safety advances that don't decrease the quality of any sport or change it from what it is and always been. If you don't want your kids to get hurt that's completely understandable , don't let them play...instead parents want to make the sport bend and change because "it's not fair" to have their child sit out of it so they must change it to fit their expectations. Try chess.
  18. As long as it doesn't hit anyone else, me, the people I'm with, or damage anyone's property or boat I'm okay with it. If it's high above my head I could care less. Do they annoy me ? Yes, but I'd trade all of the Wake board boats, jet boats, cigar boats, runabouts, seadoo's , jet ski's , etc for drones any day!! Privacy? Who cares...record me, take my picture...what are they going to do with it? Relax peeps.
  19. You and me both my friend. I've lived in Roanoke for many years and had permission to fish several great ponds back in the day. Today I haven't been able to find one and if I have no one is willing to let me even look at it. If you do find one hit me up and we'll head over there together! I always release fish and use artificial only, no trash, no alcohol....I just want to fish. Good luck !
  20. I think that will be a great choice! Get it.
  21. Love the Savage line thru baits, very affordable and they catch fish! I haven't tried the Real Trout yet but I'm going to pick one up. One thing I keep reading about people comparing the Hudd I disagree with to an extent. I think comparing it really isn't apples to apples because the point of the Hudd was to make a realistic profile that had a subtle action to draw fish. It wasn't meant or designed to be a bait that had lots of action.
  22. I use a Revo Toro 50HS and Shimano Metanium XT 2005's for my swimbaiting needs. Love em'! The Lews BB2 is a great choice as well, very smooth, nice handle, compact reel that holds plenty of line. Now I want another one! LOL....
  23. The Triple Trout is a proven bait and it's awesome dude. My collection is growing and it will continue to do so. It casts well and swims beautifully without any effort other than turning the reel handle. You can twitch it, burn it, jerk it...or just straight retrieve. They have sinking and floating versions also. Check out the cut tail in 8 or 10 inch for a great waking/topwater bait. It's sweet. I have 6,7,8 inch TT's and will soon pick up a 10....
  24. Big baits will work there! Get out there and see how you do! In my opinion , catching fish on big swimbaits is a preference and a style all it's own when it comes to artificial baits. I love it and I'm addicted to it but it can put you in a box so to speak. What I mean is, you have to commit to throwing the big bait and often suffer fishless trips when you might have been able to catch a bunch on conventional tackle such as the old plastic worm, jig, spinnerbait, buzzbait, and now the ever popular drop shop and ned rig. If it's numbers you seek or are used to you need to wrap your mind around not expecting that on bigger baits but generally you will get more quality when you do hook up. However, there will be the day that you whack em' on big baits. The more you go the better the odds obviously. Have fun man! I love throwing the big baits even when they aren't producing...it's the anticipation of the possibility of that one special fish that might be at the end of any cast....dream!
  25. I've lost fished because of retardation, never back play though. LOL... love my Shimano's!
