  1. Got off of work and in bed by 6am July 4th. Up by 11am to pack for camp. On the road by 130pm, I think, LOL. Up to camp by 330pm, still time to get wet before dinner time. Nice little beach in front of camp this year, kewl. Even too the kids down and caught 2 rockbass and let them reel him in a few times. LOL. Dinner then, launch and dock boat. Still had time to drive down to Piseco Lake to watch the fireworks at 930pm. Breezy just right, no mosquitoes, only thing was, there was a tree that hung out from the bank from where the viewing area was. They were still kewl. Back at camp by 1030pm, son in bed and coals still hot in the fire pit from the sister-in-law and husband and their 3 year old, from having Smore's. Got the fire going again and my wife and I had a good quite time by the fire. I also partaked in a few marshmallows too, no smore's, just 4 mellows, yum. But my wife to bed at 1130pm and took the canoe out for an hour, just right out in front of camp with my secret night time weapon. "BROKEN-BACK JITTERBUG" And let me just tell ya, MURPHY was in the canoe with me. I hung into a killer smallie and didn't have the net in the canoe with me. That is right, I canoed over to the boat, got my 2 light rods and tie a jitterbug and torpedo on and didn't take the net. But, I still got to see him before he went down under the canoe and shuck the hook loose. If I had the net, I had him right to the canoe. I was down on my knees and even had my sleeve pulled up so I could grab him. But, it ended in the one that got away. Totally fun fishing. Back to camp and in bed by 130am. "How Hard Do You Play?" But, I did mange to get a nice rockbass that I'll show you here. These are the pictures from Friday, July 4th 2008 And I even had time to take a few pictures of the fox glove flowers on the hillside while everyone else was taking a quick boat ride in my father in-laws bow rider. You ever wonder what this bumblebee sees. Is that cool or what? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday, July 5th 2008 After getting up, cup of coffee, ride into town, getting my dad a kewl t-shirt at the dept. store in town. Lunch, out in the boat fishing with the whole family. Got some kewl new shot of Lady with her 1st fish. She doesn't want anything to do with them when they are on the deck, but if they are in the air or held out for her, she could careless. Got into a ton of perch, I could have keep about 3-5 out of 20 of them, but no need to mess with them. Even got a nice pumpkinseed, you can see our son in the water. He was swimming around the boat while I was fishing. My wife hung out on the back deck sunning and reading her Historical Saratoga book. She even netting a nice pickerel for me, but here is a nice one that my son reeled in. I just love my new lip grabbers that I got last Father's Day, they work GREAT. Headed back in for an early dinner, then to town for ice cream and parade, then over to Cherry Beach for fireworks show #2. We teamed up with sister in-law, husband, and their 2 kids for this nice outing. The parade was great, kids had a great time, candy was thrown out during. Fireworks !!!!! Back to camp and kids in bed by 1030pm and I was out in the bass boat this time. Had a few killer blow ups and 2 hook ups that got spit and thrown out with there aerial display. Moved to a new spot and caught a nice smallie and got this one to the boat, LOL. A few rockbass and back to camp for some sleep. Back in bed at 130am with having to come home today. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunday, July 6th 2008 Woke up to eggs, bacon and toast, yummy. Pulled the boat out. Got it charging back up. Swimming shorts on and went tubing with my wife for a little while. Father in-law pulled us in his nice bow rider. Afterwards we all went over to the swimming hole, anchored up and floated for a while. BBBRRRR after a while, then we laid on the boat for a little while. Headed back to camp and played at our beach for a bit. I got Lady out in the water for a little while. She just runs out then you let her, but she let me rinse her coat and get some of the hair off of her. Packed everything up, boat charged, covered, ready for vacation. Dinner, dessert and back home with some daylight to spare. Till next time. Fish On!
  2. They are, but I wasn't looking to keep any that day. I like to keep them during our ice fishing season and early spring. Once the water warms I don't think that the fish taste as good as if they are already on ice. ;D ;D
  3. get in touch with me in the fall then you are back in NY.
  4. It's been 2 weeks since I was fishing late. This is a nice smallie that I got to the bank, I broke off on a nicer one later that day. Just some cool looking wild flowers along the river bank. So then that brings us to July 1st. Got a 9:15am start on the lake this morning, great to have the boat back in the water. Fished till 11:15am and had a great morning. The air temp was low 70's to start, water temp. 76 and the 1st stop yielded some nice fish. 1st fish of the day for me. And here is Jesse's nice 15" smallie. They love the little 2" rib grub. We were on our last spot of the morning and when the alarm went off, it was nothing but fish after fish so Jesse stayed a few extra minutes. It was one crazy catch'n time. Jesse went 6 nice gill in 10 cast and this nice perch. Notice the color chance. The sun was behind the clouds and Jesse went to the firetiger and was nailing them faster than me with the brim color, LOL. So I dropped Jesse off at he docks and went back out till about 1:30pm. The sun came back out and got hot. I went real shallow and found a nice school of perch and could have come home with a 1/2 dozen nice perch. They didn't want the firetiger, but that brim was the ticket. I had to sight fish for them in 2-3 FOW right next to the boat. And also got lucky up in one lily pad group that had a spawning pair up under over the sand. I got this one on a grass frog in 2-3 FOW. And let it go to pair up with it's mate yet again. btw, the other one was a little bigger. I also lost a nice maybe 5#er 18"-20" largemouth. He jumped once for us right at the boat and buddy was on the net. The big boy landed and pulled drag, but it was too tight I think or bad spot in the 6# line. The line broke and I re tied. Maybe next time, it was a real nice fish, would have been a great catch on the UL for the tourney. Fish On!
  5. What's up. I'm inbetween Round and Saratoga Lake. I just put a post in the Other fish topic at the bottom of my day on Saratoga Lake. 8-) http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214977028 Haven't fished Round lake in years, looks like there still are some nice bass in it.

  7. AWESOME, that is one huge crappie, WTG on such a fine catch. 8-)
  8. That is one awesome brim. 8-) WTG
  9. I would say it is either a brown or yellow bullhead. bullhead have more rounded tail and channel cats have for of a forked tail.
  10. This is what I use. Shad Darts - CLICK here to see I love the ones with the hair skirts. 8-)
  11. yes sir!!!! Here is a beast crappie I got on a double rig, you can see the one in it's bottom side fin and the other is in it's mouth. I got this one back in January before the water iced up out of the canoe, vertical jigging over 22 FOW and ended up getting this one on the top hook too. Awesome to double jig it for the crappies, best worked in the vertical jigging over deeper water. When the water ice's out and the water warms, no need for the double rig. Just put your jig 1-1/2'-3' under your bobber and your Fish On! from there. I just tie the double trilene knot for both and put them from 6" - 14" apart when I double rig it, BTW. Good luck.
  12. sweeeet, sounds like a great time. 8-) Here is one of my top 3 PB shad out of the Hudson River, NY. Got to love the anual striper and shad run. Fighters like smallies. 8-) Caught on shad hair dart. Fish On!
  13. clown X-raps just like the husky jerks should work just fine for stripers. 8-)
  14. rocket shad spinnerbait 8-)
  15. 1/16 and 1/32 oz jig heads with 1 1/2"-2" tube jigs or hairjigs work toooo. And to keep it in the strike zone, use a pencil bobber and put your jig about 2 feet under it. reel, pause, reel, pause, reel, pause the bobber back to ya. and remember, crappie have a paper mouth, no need to set the hook like bass fishing, just start reeling and the hook will set it's self. 8-) Good luck.
