  1. Every angler should learn how to remove the hook from a bass' gut by going through under the gill plates..it takes some practice to get the technique down correctly, but I can get the hook out and release the fish 85-90% of the time. And as far as the hooks rusting, that may be the case in salt water but in fresh I don't think so..I have caught several very sick bass with a hook and leader coming out of thier throat..removing the hook and in my opinion saving the fishes life
  2. Why not? We all enjoy fishing for fun, but In my opinion tournaments are great, it's fun putting your skills to the test and you can really meet some cool people and learn a lot too!
  3. This past fall I had extreme success using the Strike King shadlicious swimbait, I was using it on my frog rod but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to a good baitcasting rod length and action for using these swimbaits with a weighted hook..thank you
  4. ^ I can't do tht because the top guide doesn't just slide off. It's part of the rod.
  5. The inside of the top guide fell out. Is there anyway to fix that myself without having to bring it to a shop b/c I heard that they will just cut the tip down if I bring it there and I don't want that to happen.
  6. aha that's no 5# fish..more like 8
  7. Thanks for the advice.
  8. The fish was 7lbs even....
  9. That makes me really upset lol, not even close
  10. All golf course bass should be released. So many chemicals runoff into that water from fertilizers and what not.
  11. All you need to have is a good pair of needle nose pliers. What you need to do is go through under the gills of the bass and spin the hook out the opposite way. Anyone that tells you to just cut the leader and leave the hook in the fishes throat is dumb. A fish can't survive with a hook in it's stomach.
  12. I caught this bass yesterday over here on Long Island. I feel the pic looks deceiving, I know how big it is because I weighed it but I just want to see how big it looks to someone who doesn't know how much it weighs.
  13. It bought it in November brand new, I haven't used it much until yesterday, and I never even oiled or greased it.
  14. I never even put anything on it ever...
  15. I have been using my Curado since November and this has never happened. Anyone have an idea of why this is happening? http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa100/mikekw3fish/77e1162d.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa100/mikekw3fish/16850c13.jpg
