  1. Well the price was right, free. Assuming the 24 refers to thrust it might be a little on the weak side to move a 12 foot tin boat. POst a picture maybe somebody will recognize it.
  2. One of the factors is where will you fish. If you have a lot of small lakes, rivers or creeks near by a kayak is the way to go. For example where I live there are a lot of lakes that gas motors aren't allowed so kayak is a great choice. I have both a kayak and a bass boat and spend more time in the kayak. Also maintenance cost are minimal on a kayak.
  3. Maybe your states attorney general would be interested in setting her up.
  4. I have a disconnect on the ground of the starter battery. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Top-Post-Battery-Disconnect-Switch,2382.html?sku=91064503&msclkid=ef785b98085f1740699d048a4f887336&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SMI - Shopping (CSE) (Bing)&utm_term=4577404346894473&utm_content=All Products (Feb28_2020)
  5. Screw nut and washer if I have access and rivets if no access.
  6. I have a 16.5 foot deep V and have fished small electric only lakes to the Great Lakes. The only downside is it gets blown around a bit more than a modified V on windy days.
  7. Anything over 55lb trust is going to be 24 volt 2 batteries and twice the weight.
  8. Yes each time you add gas you would have to add the appropriate amount of oil to the gas. You would have to find out what ratio of gas to oil the motor requires to figure out how much oil to add. 2-Stroke Oil Mix Calculator For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 40:1 mixture, use 3.2 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 32:1 mixture, use 4 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.
  9. If your on a budget the Lowrance Hook2 4x is $99 or less. Garmin Strike 4 is also in that price range. Garmin Striker Plus 4 around 139 with chart plotting.
  10. I used a home made suction cup mount for years on an a 14 foot aluminum boat with out any issues. I mounted the fish finder to a plastic letter box with the battery inside. Still using the box to hold the battery for the Lowrance finder on my kayak.
  11. Anything is possible. I think at some point you can have too much technology. Like cars today that are autonomous will you just sit in the boat and let it catch the fish?
  12. Progressive had the best deal for boat and equipment. Can't speak to tow service.
  13. My 2001 Mercury throttle control wasn't working correctly so I took it apart cleaned and lubed. Working great now. It wasn't that hard to do. Found the schematic on the internet. It would not be hard to replace if you go that route.
  14. Put new brushes in while your at it.
  15. Thanks for the quick reply my yak is a sit in so no scupper holes. If this isn't going to shoot thru the hull I can put it on my trolling motor on my bass boat.
  16. I received a Lowrance HOOK2-5X with SplitShot as a gift and installed on my Old Town Loon 126 kayak with the transducer reading through the hull. The only problem is the HDI screen never shows the bottom. Lowrance said that HDI deosnt work shooting through the hull. Anyone had any success reading HDI through the hull?
  17. I have the anchor trolley on my right and the factory mounted paddle holder is on the right also. Added a paddle holder to the left side recently but haven't been out yet to see how it works. Having both on the same side hasn't been a problem because generally i have the paddle across my lap and mostly use the holder for transport. No right or wrong answer just what works for you.
  18. I am with you white on white. My bass boat is tan my truck is white because that was the only color the boat came in 2001 but If I win the lottery I am getting a new white Power Wagon and white Vexus aluminum boat.
  19. I have an aluminum welded hull 16.5 foot 2001 Fisher Marine Deep V laid out like a bass boat. I have fished everything from small electric only lakes, the Mississippi River, inland lakes and Lake Superior (relatively calm days I am not insane) and happy with it. Bought new no plans to replace it. The only wood in the boat is a small piece on the bow where the navigation lights are mounted on. Not much to go wrong.
  20. As long as you don't have side imaging you might consider mounting the transducer in the hull. Never have to worry about deploying it or it getting damaged by rocks if your in shallow.
  21. If the shaft is the same diameter you can use it in the existing mount.
  22. My start battery was 9 years old just replaced last week. Buy an inexpensive hydrometer and check each cell.
  23. If the space is limited to back into a storage unit you and the ground is level you could disconnect from your tow vehicle and roll it in by hand or with trailer dolly. A real advantage of storage units have AC power available so you can keep your batteries charged. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200695292_200695292?cm_mmc=Bing-pla&utm_source=Bing_PLA&utm_medium=Trailers %2B Towing > Trailer Dollies&utm_campaign=Ironton&utm_content=58019&msclkid=e709b64b58a415426d88e820c1baa7c3
