  1. http://www.brannansbass.com/ This place is having a 20% off sale until November 24th. Not the typical 20% either, you can even get Shimano and Daiwa reels at the discount. Free shipping over $50 too. Enjoy.
  2. I just keep fishing and take the good with the bad. The season is open all year for me.
  3. I think you will be pleased. If not I will buy the DX743 off of you for $200.
  4. Anchor rope tied to one ankle using the hands and feet as emergency propulsion.
  5. Thats a smoking deal on that rod. Thats almost 50% off. Just buy it and find a use for it later.
  6. When Dobyns first came out they had issues with breakage with there Generation 1 rods. They ended up dumping that manufacture all together and going with another one to make there newest Generation 2 rods. Whatever you heard was most likely from the Gen 1 rod because as far as I know there are no issues with the Gen 2 rods. If you do happen to break one just take it to a store that carries them and they will swap it out for you for 60 bucks.
  7. I cant wait to hear the review. I have the same reel on the way to be cleaned, super tuned, get the bearing upgrade, and add the carbontex drag washers.
  8. I have used both of these reels quite a bit this year and like them both. The Patriarch is by far the smoother reel of the two. I also prefer the looks of the Patriarch over the Curado. They both can cast a 3/4 Red Eye Shad a more then acceptable distance with the 50E doing a little bit better. When it comes to lighter baits the 50E cast much farther. The 50E is also easier to adjust the brakes. You need a small flat head to remove the side plate of the Patriarch which is a little inconvenient. As stated above the 50E is lighter(6.9oz) then the Patriarch(8.0 or 8.4 depending on if you get the 6.4:1 or the 7.1:1, 6.4:1 being the heavier narrow spool). They are both great reels for the price and you cant go wrong with either one. If I had to chose one, I would probably pick the Curado inside the Patriarchs body!
  9. Thanks Marty. After seeing your post I went to TW to order some and saw they had the specs up now. I looked everywhere including there on Sunday for the specs but couldn't find them. I'm not too fond of the brown but Im going to give the 40lb a shot on my Curado 50E for light plastics. Maybe this one wont sing to me aftter i cross there eyes!
  10. I was going to buy some over the Labor Day sale but couldn't find the specs. Anyone know the diameter of the 40 & 50lb?
  11. All of my online orders are delivered to work. She is home before me so she sees me bring it inside. I don't try to hide anything.
  12. I don't own a tracking device and I will d**n sure never pay for one. All though my old lady doesn't give me crap about going fishing all the time. She knows its what I love to do and accepts it. Its just the tackle binges that I sometimes go on that gets her upset.
  13. That setup looks awesome out in the sun. Enjoy.
  14. Just take a black permanent marker to it.
  15. Ive been noticing it on the Brush Hogs. They have long indentations on the main body.
  16. ............And thats all I have to say about that
  17. Get the Dobyns and decide on the reel. Don't look back!!
  18. Get a Zillion or a Steez. I would say get a Core but you are limited on the size of line you can put on that reel(just as a 50E). A Steez is light and paired with a Exreme you would be a gangsta. Get it done sale or not. You want "one" setup so do it right or pay later.
  19. Does TW or BTD do the discount on Diawa reels? If so, get the Steez and Extreme. A Dobyns rep told me that he used that setup. He said after filling the reel with floro it weighed just under 10oz. SICK!
  20. You are defiantly right about the Catfish and Gulp. I quit using the Gulp after the first couple of days because of the catfish. Talk about disappointing. When you hook into a 4-5lb catfish on a T-Rig they feel much bigger then a 4-5lb bass. You get that adrenaline rush after the hookset thinking you stuck a big one. Then you notice it fighting a little differently and realize its just another catfish. Another thing I realized is if I catch a catfish on a soft plastic lure. I can never get a bass to bite on that same plastic lure that got slimed by the catfish. I have gotten to where I will just throw it out and put on a new no matter what shape its in after a catfish has gotten a hold of it.
  21. The 5" is the ticket.
  22. Im keeping a watch on the Stradics there. The 6000 is 85 if I remember right. If they put the 2500 on clearance it shouldn't be more then 75. Did shimano make a newer model for the CI4 too?
  23. Rig the hook inline with the tail. You can T-Rig, C-Rig, or use as a jig trailer. If you rig the hook with the tail flat you will lose action.
  24. Now you have way more options. Keep in mind Labor Day is right around the corner. Tackle Warehouse and Bass Tackle Depot have 15-20% off sales on most items. The Dobyns rods have been included in the past. Im not sure if Daiwa reels are included. Maybe someone here could chime in on that. If they are included this is what I would do if you can spend 50 dollars more. Daiwa Steez $499 reg. $400 with discount "if available on sale" http://www.***.com/Daiwa_Steez_Ultra_Magnesium_Casting_Reels/descpage-DSHCR.html Dobyns Extreme DX743 or DX744 depending on cover your fishing $319 reg. $255 with discount $655 total. Free Shipping. No Tax (as long as your not in CA) You would have one Mac Daddy setup. Thats what I would try to do but thats just me.
