  1. Watching the Super Bowl, die hard football fan, probably love it more than fishing, and the SB only happens one day a year, plenty of other days to fish on. i dont feel the need to fish every day nor the desire to choose it over everything else that may or could be going on at the time, i have other interests i love as well. Tracking it online/via phone, or recording it and watching it later does no justice. Football may not be your thing, thats totally understandable. But for me, Im going to watch the super bowl over fishing in the middle of winter when its cold outside and it will be night time as well to top it off. yall can have fun night fishing in the middle of winter if you want, its just not my cup of tea...
  2. You should try Fallout 4, get the game of the year edition that comes with all the DLC already. Also love the WWE Wrestling games, and Rory McIlroy PGA Golf. But i've been hooked on Fallout 4 about two years now with its open world maps and different factions and ways to beat it... I've also been playing the new Zelda on Switch
  3. some people couldnt be more misinformed with comments like "for beginners" "tomato stakes" "loaner rods" "catfish rods" "saltwater rods" "no sensitivity etc etc etc...they may not be what you prefer, thats fine, use what you like. but ugly stiks are d**n good all around rods. good for multiple species, multiple lures, multiple techniques, and so on. they may not be designed for one specific technique, but they excel at many of them. thats the plain truth, whether many want to agree or not. they make excellent drop shot rods. the price point is fair as well, and i do get the feeling that some base quality solely on price. and as far as sensitivity, rods dont have senses and feelings, sensitivity is all in your own hands
  4. im ready for the draft more than ever. especially after not having a 1st round pick the last 2 years. i really do miss the old draft format though. rounds 1-3 on saturday, rounds 4-7 on sunday. it game me a reason to sit around all weekend for two days and get hammered while everyone knew not to bother me. now people expect me to do things that sunday lol
  5. i had 8lb XT on my pflueger trion spinning reel, worked just fine. im not sure about larger sizes of XT though for 30 bucks i can buy a panfish reel that will last quite awhile. youre just spoiled
  6. if we have been irrelevant for the last 25 years, then the eagles have been for over the last 50 years. you might have an old school championship(lame argument btw) but you still dont have a lombardi aka super bowl win. the patriots won 16 regular season games, yet lost the super bowl, they failed at what you call the ultimate goal. so really it doesnt matter if they went 16-0 or 0-16. playoffs or not, if you didnt win the super bowl you havent met your goals, your team has never met that goal, ever. i dont think chip kelly transforming you into the philadelphia ducks is gonna help your chances either. you want to tout your football knowledge and berate mine, yet you didnt even know the 3rd quarterback and inactive rules that changed 4 years ago...
  7. i agree about the through the gill removal method posted above. when i started getting back into fishing, it was one of the first things i read here. and the next day promptly gut hooked a bass lol. thanks to remembering the method i was able to remove the hook from the fish without having to cut my line or do something stupid like ripping the basses gullet out and still not getting my hook back... also at the bottom of the hook removal link post was this: gills are stronger than people think...
  8. this might sound odd, and i dont know if its totally correct or not, but even though the trout are food for bass, the less trout there is the less competition there is for food with the bass...
  9. just to clarify, im not disagreeing with you, bass are more likely to consume fish, its a bigger meal for them. but they also find it hard to resist that scrumptious little morsel(to them) that is a live worm. but i also tend to think that there are times when a bass doesnt go for those movements and would much rather have an easy meal thats laying there for them on the bottom, and thats why dead sticking a plastic worm on the bottom works...
  10. wins mean nothing if it doesnt lead to a championship, ask dan marino... nope, not burnt here. Redskins have Super Bowl wins, Eagles dont. not my fault some people cant handle the truth...
  11. there is a difference between threading a live worm on the hook the good old fashioned way, and "nose" hooking a live worm. try nose hooking a live night crawler and toss it in clear shallow water and observe. you will get that action you see in your plastics.
  12. you should go look at the eagles lombardi trophies...oh wait...lol
  13. trust me, i wouldnt just invent that kind of thing out of thin air. i eat, sleep and drink NFL football for the most part. the rule changed back in 2011. whoever you heard talking about it last season was an idiot or you just heard them wrong... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/22/nfl-drops-third-quarterback-rule-46-active-players-on-game-day/
  14. live worms catch fish without a doubt, why wouldnt you try to imitate a worm when fishing a plastic worm?
  15. ive had my supreme for 2 years and my trion for 5 years, neither of them have ever felt sloppy or worn out at anytime. in fact this winter i just broke down, cleaned and lubed my trion for the first time since i bought it, it still feels great...
  16. you need to work on your google skills http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/3560227/
  17. i love my pflueger spinning reels. dont have the XT but i do have the supreme mgx. and a trion. both have been great reels and the quality shows in their performance. my next reel is going to probably be a president as they get great reviews and have an excellent price... i say go with the pflueger, their reputation for spinning reels is tops right now imo...
  18. i dont believe in this search bait thing. throw what you think is going to work based on the conditions, throw something you have confidence in, throw something you think is pretty. theres not one magic bait thats going to find that first fish or two for you. you could end up wasting time throwing a bait the fish dont want, because someone convinced you there was a such thing as a search bait thats going to find the fish for you. and you can cover all the water you want, doesnt mean the fish are going to bite this so called search bait, means youve wasted that much more time. you couldve been fishing something more productive and trying to put together a pattern based on conditions, or you can keep chucking that search bait that apparently isnt part of the available pattern(s) for that given day...
  19. my HJs rise back slowly, but not right away. i only usually fish it in cold water though. maybe youre pausing too long in the retrieve...
  20. this rule changed a couple years ago or so. he just has to be active on gamedays, the days of the "emergency" 3rd QB as you describe are over i believe.
  21. its possible, i just dont know if they would survive the winter that far up north in a pond that shallow. only way to know is to try it. apparently the pond has a small creek flowing into it that should supply constant oxygen. i fish a 5-6 foot deep pond in northern VA that freezes over every winter but the fish still live. the pond is feed by a spring that constantly flows into the pond and exits into a creek.
  22. the best time to go fishing is when you can. so if you have the time and means to go, then go. you will never know if youre going to have a horrible day or a day for the ages.
  23. i would try night crawlers. that way you can see if there are any pan fish in there already as well. plus bass love them and will readily eat them too.
  24. this is probably the best advice in this thread and what my response was going to be. stretching before any physical activity which involves consistent muscle use helps prevent injury and also helps prevent soreness afterwards. before you get in that kayak you should stretch out your arms, legs, and back. i admit i dont follow the stretch after thing, but i have never really thought about it, i also have no doubt that it will help too though...
  25. thats what happens when espn hires away all the hot dc sports chick anchors. they should give us lindsay czarniak back
