  1. I use the fogging Sea-foam also , spray it in the carb till you kill the engine then let it sit for 10 min or more. Refire the motor, it'll smoke like crazy for a bit. You may want to change your plugs after doing this sometimes they get pretty fouled. I also use Sea foam in my Dodge truck. Suck about a third of a can into the intake through the brake booster vacuum line and let sit then refire. It cleans the carbon build up, although you could just drive it like you stole it al the time too!
  2. I would go with the Avid, outstanding rods imo. By the way watch that you're not leaving your rods in extreme heat such as in the cab of a truck or car on hot days, this could cause problems also.
  3. Redfins can be caught in a number of small streams throughout Lycoming co. They are pretty common bait for trout fishermen. Kicking the stream with a net is probably the best way but they can be caught in minnow traps. I've never tried raising them but I do know keeping minnows can be tricky. Shiners are tough to keep. By the way try googling dace minnow.
  4. Well what a brutal start to trout season, I got in about an hour of fishing on Lycoming creek before the downpour started. Its been cold befor and rainy before but man that was tough conditions on Sat. I didn't even bother on Sunday , after 2.5 in. rain the creek was muddy and ragin
  5. Yeah killer, that was a huge muskey around 50" and 30 some pounds, I know the guy and he fishes almost every day . I prefer below the dam best around Market st. bridge and the old railroad piers just downstream. Fishing is good above the dam too, I see your're from clinton co. I don't have a jet so I don't go past the riffles around Level corners
  6. I'm getting all my trout gear around for my only weekend of trout fishing for the year. I'm not into trout fishing much anymore but the opener is such tradition its hard to pass up. I've been camping along the creek on opening weekend for the last 20 some years with the same basic group of buddies. About the only difference is we used to sleep in just sleeping bags (no tent even) near the creek, now we enjoy the luxuries such as campers and cook stoves instead of just a fire. We still drink some beer but I rarely have to fish opening morning hung over anymore. I guess we've wised up a bit but d**n those were some good memories.
  7. Thanks Rhino, I didn't realize 5200 was permanent. It would have been a real pain the next time.
  8. Glad to hear all is alright , surgery sucks!
  9. I'm replacing the livewell pump in my boat and was wondering what type of sealant to use on the thru-hull fitting. The hull is aluminum and the pump tube and fitting are plastic. I was checking out 3M 5200 but it didn't specify whether it would adhere to metal. Just wondering what some of you have used. Thanks
  10. I love Cabin Creek salty spiders, I usually use pumpkin seed or watermelon with the different colored flakes ( i'll have to look to remember the color) fished on the spider jig head. I fish the West Branch of the Susquehanna mostly and there are a ton of old logging cribs in it. I usually drift the jig with the current past the cribs , kind of like fishing live bait in a small trout stream. The smallies here love em!
  11. I had a battery tip over in the back of a row boat that i used to have. I dumped a bunch of baking soda where it spilled and hosed it out good. As for the battery it was about a year and a half when it tipped, I just filled it back up with distilled water charged it good and it lasted three more years.
  12. Sorry I thought you were talking about Shimano spinning reels, I'm not sure about the Guide series reels
  13. Congrats, its hard to beat St. Croix for quality
  14. The rotor is what the bail is atttached to, it spins and wraps the line on the spool. You have to remove the spool and the is a nut that needs to be removed then the rotor will come off. Word of caution though, if you're not a mechanical person you stand a good chance of making a mess of your reel . Go at it slowly and carefully.
  15. Seems like anything I'm trying to catch a bass with at my local lake. Bright colored spinnerbaits seem to catch them well, though I never target them.
  16. Peoples' faces are not softer ,I broke the same bone, its called boxer's break, I left it go a few days and the swelling did not go down. I have a piece of titanium in my hand for the last 15 yrs because of it and it still hurts at times . Anyhow go to the doctor and get it checked out
  17. Try using large size rapalas (11 or 13), you'll may not catch the numbers you will with smaller baits but they're the ticket for the brutes
  18. The Eyecons are the same blank material as the Mojo bass rods , they're just geared toward lighter presentations associated with walleye fishing , but that doesn't mean the couldn't fit the bill for similar light bass techniques
  19. I prefer to use fused line such as fireline on spinning outfits , it doesn't seem to be as limp as braided line. I like to use 10# with a 8# floro leader when fishing small spider jigs . Heck I even use 6# fireline on the rare ocassion that I go for trout in a small stream. The stuff is awesome!
  20. rootbeer and citrus shad
  21. i live near the Susquehanna river, there are both largemouth and smallies in my area but the smallies are usually more agressive and fun to catch
  22. check out the shimano symetre or the cheaper sahara both are very nice, smooth reel . only bummer is they don't come with spare spool anymore
  23. St. Croix LTB76MHMF, I use this same length and action in the legend extreme which is a bit over the $300 mark , but the LBT can be had for $280. Interestingly I really like this rod for carolina rigging also
  24. There is definetly a difference in a $25 rod compared to a $100 up rod. DVT is right though at a certain point the differences are subtle. Spend what you can afford and what you can justify for this pastime. I know alot of guys who catch alot of fish on cheap rods
  25. Sorry a typo, the spinner is 7ft med.light fast . Yeah i'm anxious to try the 6'10" caster on the water to really get a feel for it . This line of rods are outstanding I've got 4 other extremes and a LBT . All my other rods became loaners or just sit on the rack now.
