  1. Coosa River = white. White 1/4 oz spinnerbait, white 1/4-3/8oz swim jig, or for more bites a 6-8" white zoom trick worm rigged Texas style with no weight. Fish shadows, and anywhere you can find more than one type of cover near the bank. Eg. grass and wood, or wood and rocks. Hold tight, the coosa spots will rip your arm off. Good luck.
  2. I have it on my iPhone 3. I use it all the time at the console while driving to my waypoints. Also, this app shows a little more detail than the Navionics chip I have in my fish finder. I think it is one of the best apps I have purchased, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.
  3. The more information the better, as long as, it doesn't become cluttered or a bunch of useless info. Eg. sky conditions, wind direction, wind speed, moon phase, pre/post front (how many days), water conditions, seasonal pattern, time of year, time of day, bait type, rig type, line type, specific notes like presentation or retrieve type and multiple casts (how many to target). This is some of the things that would be great to have.
  4. Update!!! Thanks guys for the input. I spooled up some 4lb test line and nose hooked a small 4 in. drop shot worm. I caught two small spotted bass. I could not get the larger fish to eat it. I changed to a small jig with a twin tail grub trailer. I pulled in a nice keeper on the first cast. Thanks for the help. Good fishin to all of you.
  5. Okay, so I found this new small river (30 ft across) that I have been wanting to fish. I posted on here for some pointers. Today I went to check it out. I caught a little sun perch on the first cast with an inline spinner. Then, I decided to trek on upstream in search of a ponding area. I spotted a huge rock out in the water and as I was making my way toward it I saw a flash in the water. It was about a 3-4 lb spotted bass, female, and about a 2 lb male with her. I tied on a texas rigged 4 inch dinger and pitched it to her. She immediately turned and charged the bait. Just as her nose hit the worm she stopped and then drifted away. I spent the next 2 hours throwing everything I had with me with no luck. I tried a 2 inch smoke grub, a 2 inch sassy shad, a wacky worm, the inline spinner, and a buzz bait. This water is super clear and about 3-4 feet deep. I can see EVERYTHING on the bottom. I feel like I needed a small jig, but I didn't have one with me. What do you guys think would be the ticket?
  6. I took the family to the 2010 BassMaster Classic in Birmingham. We spent most of our time at the expo. Every time we walked past the Big Bite Baits booth they would give us a sample bag of product. It had a finesse worm, a squirrel tail worm, a trick stick, a kreit tail worm, and a fighting frog. We tried the baits the next time out fishing and were amazed at how well the fish bit. My wife caught a 7.5lber on the fighting frog. I have caught many, many fish on all the baits listed above. These baits are great. The price is just an added bonus. If you will fish them, you will fall in love. My boat is loaded with Big Bite Bait products.
  7. Don't get me wrong. I'm still using the Yo-Zuri hybrid on other setups, I've just gone back to my Seaguar Invisx for the areas with the shells and gravel. It seems to hold up to the rough terrain better. But I love the Yo-Zuri for cranking, and spinnerbaits especially.
  8. I recently purchased a BPS pro qualifier limited(the purple/blue, irridescent color) reel. It is in like new condition. It will cast a mile, but I have the drag as tight as it will go and it still pulls of pretty easily, and I set the hook on a 2lb bass this weekend and the drag slipped on the hookset and during the entire fight. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem? I have read that these are incredible reels, and I would agree if it weren't for this issue.
  9. I bought one last year. Like you, I was impressed with the looks. After a day on the water, I quickly took the rod back. It does not fish as well as it looks. Also, after only minutes on the water, one of the guide eye inserts broke out and was cutting my line. Maybe they have improve the quality since, but definitely not a Vendetta last year.
  10. I purchased 8# and 12# over the winter and couldn't wait to get on the water and try them out. I love the Yo-Zuri line; with one exception. I was using it this weekend c-rig fishing. On Lake Guntersville the best places to fish a c-rig is in areas with shell or gravel bottoms. These bottoms ATE UP the Yo-Zuri line. It was necessary to retie after about every 2nd or 3rd fish or every 30 casts or so. I am using hybrid 12# on this setup. I will be using something different on my next outing. I hope this helps. Just my experience.
  11. I use to use an ALL Star rod for cranking. I would lose about 2 or 3 fish out of 10. I purchased a KVD Tour Cranking Rod. NOw I will only lose 1 out of 25 or 30. Great cranking rod.
  12. I have both veritas and carrot stik. I actually have two veritas and love them both. I have one carrot stik which is a replacement for a carrot stick I broke last year. It is a 7'3" heavy action. I was jig fishing on the ledges of Lake Guntersville when I felt the familiar tap-tap. I set the hook and the rod broke into 5 pieces. It sounded like a shotgun went off in my boat. I caught the fish, a 16 lb. blue cat. (not what I was hoping for). The rod was replaced for free, but the guy at the tackle store said that e21 would be charging a $38 processing fee on all future rods. I got lucky because they were just starting to initiate the fee the next week. Having said all that, I would definitely chose the veritas, they fish great.
  13. Thanks for ALL the input. I hope I can find smallies, not even sure they live there. But, I'll find out. Thanks again.
  14. This is a small river that is the boundary between two counties. It is about one really good cast wide with depths from 1 to 6 feet.
