I went a couple of years ago for the first time and shot my first bird 6 minutes into the season. This year a buddy and I decided that we were going to go again. About thirty minutes into the season we both had a bird on the ground. We figured we had this turkey hunting thing down pat, but we hunted hard for two weeks after that and never got another shot. Sneaky birds!

I had a squirrel dog until a couple of years ago. Now, I just plunk a few off the feed pile with the 22 when I'm deer hunting or shake a few vines with friends in the afternoons.

I have a couple of 10s, mainly for my little girls. The longer they are, the more awkward they are. The longest I've owned is a 12, and it was fine for open spaces, but I don't typically fish for bream in open spaces. I like the shorter rod for getting up close to the bushes and trees. I've never spiral wrapped them, simply because breaking them down for storage would be a pain. Never had a problem with tying the line straight to the reel, but like I mentioned earlier, when a big fish hits it, let the rod go. They float. Chase it down with your boat, or if you're bank fishing, keep a regular rod and reel with you so you can cast out and "catch" the bream buster.

We call them bream busters down here. They're pretty tough. We've caught plenty of two and three pound bass and catfish off of them, just fine. It's a fight, but nothing the rod can't handle. However, my wife did hook a big cat on one, and she had to let the rod go before either it or the line broke. We just hopped in a canoe and chased it down, until the fish wore itself out. Ended up being about a 10 lb. cat. Fun stuff!!!

Fisher o men, I can't figure out how to upload a pic (hence the ghost in my profile pic). Bluebasser, I fish a river with no ripples. It's fairly deep and probably 50 yards wide at its narrowest spots. How would that translate to your style? Big D, inside of bends? That's the exact opposite of what I would have thought. But, the conscious seems to be that the active cats come up the shoals to feed? Thanks for the advice, guys!

I go a wild hair the other evening and decided to go catfishing in our local river. I set up in the middle, right above a bend, and used cutbait and whole bream on a 7/0 hook Carolina rigged. The boat was sitting in 10 foot of water and the bait in about 20 (deepest hole in the bend was 30). Lost one that about pulled my rod out of the boat, and caught another. The one I caught was 26-8, the biggest freshwater fish I've ever caught! I don't know what kind of cat it was, but I want some more of them! For you river catfishermen, where are you supposed to set up? Straights or bends? Upriver or downriver? Inside of the curve or outside? Middle of the river or the side? Deep holes or shoals? In other words, teach me to catch some more cats! Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I've had a few people in the church go through similar situations and it wasn't easy. Dealing with the inevitable passing of a loved one is tough; dealing with it alone is agonizing; dealing with the aftermath of keeping it from your family is ugly. Explain to your mother that you can't keep it from the rest of your family, that it's not right. They deserve to be able to say goodbye, and to share in the love and responsibility over the coming days. Also explain to her that you are going to have to live with them after she is gone, and that you don't want to do anything to harm that relationship. Mothers will typically bend over backwards to keep their families together. Praying for you.

Bryce, your failure to understand sarcasm (Big C was clearly being sarcastic about Steph and Klay's Finals experience) is only outweighed by your failure to understand basketball. LeBron didn't choke. He put a dilapidated team on his shoulders and took them to within two games of winning a championship. That's not choking! Some of the game's best analysts were debating whether or not he should be named the Finals' MVP, even if the Cavs lost the series, because his play was so great. That's not choking! So, he failed to win a championship his first year back in Cleveland. Big deal. Vegas is already placing the odds in favor of the Cavs winning it all next year. That's not choking. The cute little statistic about everyone going 0/whatever without LeBron on the floor shows that those guys choked...not James. The only thing you have proved is choking in this thread, is your ability to tear down one of the game's all time greats!

No more than last game seemed to favor the Warriors. It's not been the greatest display of officiating. I think GS (Curry in particular) figured out some things in that fourth quarter. When Curry comes off the screens high and early, he can get away from Delly and get some open looks. He observed the first three quarters, but ran his butt off that last quarter. If he does that all game GS has a good chance.

What a game! What a series so far! If LBJ can win this thing it will do a lot to silence his critics and put him up there with the GOATs.
