  1. Randy, all of these instructions and precautions are causing me to believe you and I should take up golf!
  2. "More tackle won't solve the absence of fish." I keep this thought in the back of my mind every time I fish.
  3. might you have meant vertical?
  4. Good information above, trust it, To add, as the spool diameter increases so does the drag washer size which also increases the drag force and sometimes the smoothness of the drag. Casting distance will increase as line diameter becomes thinner, but casting distance will also increase as spool diameter increases. I own Pflueger spinning reels, size 25, 30 and 35. Size 25 gets fished very rarely, size 35 is used most often. Your mileage may vary, but I'm guessing you're here in the first place to learn from those with experience in the subject. oe

  8. Thanks for the answers above. I don't mold my own, but tie on various jig heads. I'm giving thought to tying a marabou jig using a small mushroom head with a wire keeper. The jig I currently have is as I've described above with the keeper extending only 1/4" below the head. I want more room to tie and still add a plastic tail. I'm guessing a 1/2" keeper may be long enough. I'll keep my eyes open for such a 1/8oz jig head. oe
  9. current mushroom head jig has wire bait keeper extending 1/4" from the head. Are there longer wire bait keepers that would extend 1/2" beyond lead jig head? Thanks for the info. oe

  14. A favorite saying of mine... but I'm usually referring to women wearing lycra leggings.
  15. I have better line management using a bait casting reel, however, there comes a point at which casting a tiny jerk bait with casting gear becomes too difficult... Every angler has to make this decision for themselves.
  16. This sounds like the problem one of my spinning reels began giving me several years ago. My fix, which is still working to this day, is as follows: Locate the pan head screws that the bail assembly is held to the rotor with, one on each end of the bail assembly. Cut a felt disc at least as large as the head of these screws from a scrap piece of felt (available at a craft store if you don't have a small sheet of felt at home). Poke a small hole through the center of this felt disc. Now you have a felt washer to fit under the previously located pan head screw. Back out the screw opposite the roller side of the bail assembly and fit the felt washer over that screw. Replace the screw (and felt washer) snugly. I only needed to put this felt washer under one of the screws. You now will need to hand open and close the bail assembly, but you should have been doing this already. oe
