  1. First of all, fluorocarbon line IS a monofilament line. What you are referring to as mono is, most likely, a nylon line. My second point, there are lines today that are made of both nylon and fluorocarbon that have traits that might be a good compromise. Do a little more research... oe
  2. an additional 36 feet over crystal water can be a big deal...
  3. Don't sleep on the LV RTO series...
  4. take your "long route" to the page with the menu and bookmark that page
  5. You're here...
  6. I'd rather be fishing a heavier lipless...
  7. not original...
  8. If only I was that certain... I clip off the leading hook on the front treble and seem to have fewer snags. oe
  9. I fish with leaders because I love to tie knots in my fishing line and the adrenaline rush I get fighting what might be my next PB with line I've desecrated...
  10. I use 90wt lower unit oil in spinning reel bearings and some non-spool casting reel bearings. oe
  11. What MaxScent bait are you using that can't be bought in a black color?
  12. My dad and I did the Isle Royale hike north to south (50 miles) back in the late 1960's. I don't remember the island being as "civilized" as you tell. Thanks for the travelogue, it brought back fond memories of a youthful adventure. oe
  13. buy a new boat...
  14. jighead worm... any flavor
  15. buy a heavier salt impregnated bait would be my 1st choice... next would be a nail weight inserted in the middle of the bait (not the end as a neko rig if you want to keep the wacky rig action). oe
  16. The erratic action and shimmy on the fall (as Scott writes above) is the reason to throw this bait. Inserted nail weights leaves the bait more unstable than a belly weighted hook and is a more preferred action. oe
  17. I have landed several 40"+ musky on finesse baits with 6lb Fireline and medium power spinning gear. (because I back-reel) oe
  18. I have no idea how many bass I never feel inhale the bait... much better percentage landing 1lb.+ bass than little guys that don't fully engulf a bait. oe
  19. I convinced myself years ago that a longer (1/2"+) PE tag = a more trustworthy knot. oe
  20. Solid ned baits cast and fish better in the wind, hollow tubes fish better in the calm. oe
  21. a kirbed hook point... to more easily catch the flesh when setting the hook.
  22. That's alright, I was.
