I let the bladed jig sink to the bottom, and then slow roll it back. Sometime I stop the retrieve and let it sit on the bottom for a few seconds then start the retrieve again.
This year I have caught them on spinnerbaits, swimjigs, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, topwaters, and t-rigged plastics. The bite has been tough and the bass want a different bait on each trip.
Both shoulders have been operated on to repair tears, and the left one currently has a small tear in it that is not worth going in to fix. I cracked my right kneecap falling on riprap when I was a teenager, and they couldn't do anything with it except to let it heal on its own.
Starting in the late fall and going through to spring I need to work out at least 2x a week. If I don't, the arthritis makes them hurt like heck.
Ultravibe speed craw in black / red flake and green pumpkin in the spring. During the summer watermelon red seems to work best. Sometimes I think it's the size, but other times I think it's about the color.
Last weekend sustained winds between 20 and 25 mph with gusts between 30 and 40 mph. Weekend before that sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts between 20 and 25 mph. During the workweek just a slight breeze. Something is really wrong here.
So far this year I have done absolutely nothing fishing with jerkbaits. Spinnerbaits, swim jigs, crankbaits, and traps have all produced in the ponds I have been fishing in. I think I will give them a rest for a while and try them again in a couple of weeks after the weather settles down a bit.
