  1. If it gets as bad as Lake of the Ozarks, there is on bright spot. The fish won't be seeing a lot of fishing pressure.
  2. Fishing from the bank there is not much you can do. If I'm in a boat I will keep just enough tension on the line so the fish is basically pegged in the vegetation. After that I run the boat over and dig the bass out.
  3. I work so on the weekends I try to get out as early as possible.
  4. Back in mid June it started to get hot and humid here. I would catch maybe one bass a trip on top, but for the most part the bite on top died out. I'd look for structure on the bottom under the vegetation and punch down to it. Also look for where different vegetation comes together. In one lake I have lilypads mixed in with water willows with coontail growing underneath.
  5. I'd be looking for some new fishing spots.
  6. I take a pic of every fish caught, some of the lake, and some of the sky. Most will get deleted after I get home and update my fish log.
  7. A plain small jig head with a very small grub, or a 1/16 rooster tail for artificial baits. A small piece of nightcrawler on a small jig head will work also, but you may catch more than panfish with that bait.
  8. I haven't targeted cat in a number of years but cut bait and dead minnow threaded on the hook always produced where I fished.
  9. Congratulations to him!
  10. That will work, especially if the bass are short striking the bait.
  11. Nope.
  12. Fall fishing can be hit or miss. The bass are more sensitive to fronts moving through, and the high and low temps have a wider gap. It's not as bad as springtime, but worse than summer.
  13. When I was around 10 I came inside and my arms and legs were red and swollen. Allergist said that I had become sensitized to grass. That was the last year I walked barefoot outside.
  14. I've never had a problem with sea sickness.
  15. It depends on how thick the stuff is that I'm punching through. In the real thick stuff the skirt sometimes gets tangled up.
  16. I think your overall mindset is key. I have seen a lot of my coworkers pass away within a year of retirement. I think it's because they identified themselves with the job and when they retired, or were forced to retire, they didn't know what to do. I don't think I will have that problem. I only have 2 or 3 years left before I can sign that paper, and I can already taste it.
  17. I have a 2017 Toyota Camry that gets driven everywhere. 83500 miles on it now, and I'll probably be driving it until it falls apart.
  18. Mine would be a Shakespeare 2200-II spinning reel. I received that reel for my 10th birthday and used it every season for the next 31 years.
  19. I always check the knot and I check to make sure the duo lock snap is still closed.
  20. It's been very hot here and the bass that I have been catching have not wanted to chase anything down. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and bladed jigs have not been getting bit.
  21. I restocked the baits I was low on over Father's day and my birthday. Unless I start breaking off baits on every other cast I should be good for a while.
  22. I'd throw both of them and see which one the bass want to bite.
  23. In muddy water I like some kind of firetiger, or something with orange or red in it. In stained water I look for the vegetation. Depending on what is causing the stain the plant life will filter it.
  24. Welcome to the forums.
