  1. In winter I like to fish around dead lilypads. Most of the time I'll be using a spinnerbait, swim jig, or Texas rigged plastic.
  2. Pocket Fisherman from back in the 70s.
  3. A shorter rod like that is excellent for fishing from the bank.
  4. The rod I use is mh/f, but I use it for all of my heavier moving baits.
  5. We are getting our first real taste of winter today. Areas south of us are getting freezing rain, but right now we are getting a light mix of sleet and snow. Later on it is suppose to turn into all snow with between 4"-10" accumulation.
  6. About 20 years ago there was a 12 lb largemouth bass caught at one of the Mo. Conservation lakes here in Missouri. The story goes that the conservation office weighed the bass and then the angler took it back to the lake and released it. I never saw it, but the conservation office said they had a pic of this bass tacked up on their braggin board near the concession stand. It was taken down after a few weeks because of the ruckus it was creating. I'm thinking that if a giant can be caught out of one of these smaller size lakes, then it's quite possible that a giant largemouth is swimming around in one of the large reservoirs.
  7. It's going to be 1-1/2 to 2 months before I even think about going out. Me and cold don't mix.
  8. I wonder how many baits have been discontinued since this thread was started.
  9. I fish in a lot of coontail. Sometimes it is growing almost to the surface, and sometimes it is a few feet below the surface. If I can tell how deep the vegetation is I will fish with a jerkbait or a lipless crankbait. Most of the time I'm using a weightless worm, fluke, or senko, a light jig and craw, swimjig, a wakebait, or a topwater bait.
  10. My mom used to say Our Father looks out for kids and idiots.
  11. This is the first time I have ever heard not to sharpen a hook. Most of my worm hooks get hit with the file before every trip.
  12. Happy New Year BR! Here's hoping 2025 will be a good one.
  13. Some of them do and some of them don't. I've had some luck with the white bellies, but this year I've noticed that the bass seem to go after the solid black or solid white frogs better.
  14. This year I listened to what everyone was saying on BR. I started using a black frog and a white frog, and my number of bites went up. All of the green and brown colored frogs went into their own box on the shelf.
  15. I'd be pitching into the brush as the water comes back up.
  16. No more throwing away the tail end of a Senko bait, but I can definitely see the sunfish coming after these.
  17. I'm still stuck at 6-1/2 but a lot of nice pics.
  18. Happy Birthday! May all of your gift cards be big ones!
  19. Bone, Baby Bass, and Clear for Spooks. Clear and Leopard Frog for the Tiny Torpedo.
  20. Gas money?
  21. Missouri requests that you thoroughly clean boots, waders, boats, trailers and fishing tackle between uses. Do not transfer mud, aquatic plants, water or fish parts from one body of water to another.
  22. MH/F or MH/XF depending on the rod manufacturer. Probably 95% of my jig fishing is around some type of brush, rock, or vegetation. I've lost more bass by them getting buried in cover than I have by the bass throwing the hook.
  23. Nice!
  24. I'm looking to purchase a heavy rod for frogging and maybe punching. The heavies I have now are around 25 to 30 years old and they have seen their share of action over the years.
  25. Zoom Super Chunks in both sizes, Netbait Paca Chunks. Speed craws. Rage Craws. Whatever plastic bait is in the bottom of the tackle bag.
