  1. Around here I fish in the same deep vegetation that I do during the summer months.
  2. Nice slab. Congratulations!
  3. Walleye, or just plain chicken if I can't catch any walleye.
  4. The older I get the more I want to retire.
  5. My mom used to put Vicks on my chest when I was a kid. Besides stinking I don't think it ever did anything for me.
  6. The original True Grit. The shootout near the end was epic.
  7. Personally, if a seller told me I couldn't pay off a loan early I would get up and walk out. I would come back only when I had the full amount to make the purchase.
  8. First off I want a well known and reputable manufacturer. Then I look at the price for the type of rod I am looking for. Lastly I try the rod out and if I don't like it then it goes back.
  9. That's the way to do it.
  10. I've never had a subscription to any magazine. I would just let yours die a peaceful death.
  11. One of the reasons I like to fish when it's cold outside. As the temps warm up I will see 2 or 3 anglers on every pond or small lake that I fish.
  12. 11th or 12th grade I guess for me. It ended before it got started. He tried to roundhouse me, but I took a step back and his fist went right into the wall. Back then I had a terrible temper, but this time something kept me calm and I just walked away after he punched the wall. I had this kid in my next class, and by then his hand was all swollen up. The teacher tried to blame me for his broken hand, but one of his friends spoke up and said that I never touched him. I think he was in a cast for 7 or 8 weeks with two broken bones in his hand.
  13. Not always. Sometimes the trailer gets nose hooked, and sometimes the trailer gets threaded on the hook. The trailers get trimmed when the bass want a really small profile.
  14. 4" Yum Dinger in Green Pumpkin. 3" BPS Stik-o in Watermelon seed. 5-3/8" BPS Stik-o in Watermelon seed, and Junebug. 6" BPS Stik-o in Watermelon w/ Gold Flake.
  15. For swim jig trailers I use Zoom Fat Albert, Big Salty Chunk, Small Salty Chunk, Super Chunk, and the Super Chunk Jr. I'll change the trailer out before I change the jig.
  16. Over the past few weeks we have seen temps in the 50's and 60's during the week, and below avg. temps on the weekend. I'm hoping the January thaw evens things out a bit.
  17. Nope. The salesmen that come around here are usually home remodeling contractors.
  18. Dad taught me. He would fillet redear and bluegill. The catfish got served up whole in one piece, minus the head and tail.
  19. Currently this year the line up will be the same as last year, but it is subject to change at any moment. Daiwa CT100H on a St. Croix Premier. I have two rigs like this. One for jigs and one for Texas rigs. Daiwa CT100H on an old BPS Bionic Blade rod. This is one of the old maroon colored rods. Shimano SLX-150 on a newer BPS Bionic Blade. Pflueger 6735 on a St. Croix Premier. Pflueger 6735 on a BPS Carbonlite 2.0 Pflueger 6730 in search of a new UL rod.
  20. Dang those are some big hawgs.
  21. If the bass are relating to some type of structure like a hump or creek bed I want to stay where I can hit that structure with a cast. If the bass are relating to vegetation that is spread out then the anchor doesn't get used that much because I want to drift through the weeds and cast at mats.
  22. When I got back into fishing about 20 years ago I went on a tube buying spree. I have around 30 packages of the old Zoom Small Tubes in different colors.
  23. All of my reels are around 6.3 to 1. Most of the places I fish are between 4 and 20 feet deep. Early in the season I will start off deep, and then change over to the shallow crankbaits as the vegetation grows.
  24. I like the duolock snaps, I've been using them for years. I've learned that if the snap gets damaged it's best just to cut it off. Straightening it back out will just weaken it.
  25. Look for current or wind. The bass will be positioned behind the trees in ambush mode waiting for a meal to come by.
