I tie a palomar knot and a uni knot. I don't think I would want to run the line through the eye more than twice. Depending on the line diameter and the size of the eye, the line could cross over itself and cut into itself weakening the knot.

I've used both in the past. I preferred the YoZuri. The CXX was more like piano wire.

Shallow running crankbaits, and lipless crankbaits. Red or orange for muddy water. Natural colors for clear water.

That's a really nice looking boat.

Are you going to be fishing in a pond or a reservoir? A reservoir will not be affected as much by a steep drop in temps as a pond will. I would still go fishing to have fun, but I wouldn't be expecting to fill the boat up with fish.

We are starting to move into our springtime weather pattern. Warm weather during the first part of the week then a cold front moves through on Thursday or Friday. Cold temps or worse just in time for the weekend.

For large jerkbaits I use a BC rig. When I'm fishing a small jerkbait I use spinning gear.

The only old bait I use anymore is a Storm Subwart, and that's because I have a second bait in the same color. The rest are in an antique tackle box.

My dad and I were fishing at a reservoir down in southern Missouri about 40 years ago. We were going into a cove, but there was an old guy fishing there out of a jon boat already in the cove, so we continued on down the bank. Maybe 15 minutes later a speed boat full of young people take their boat into the cove and speed back out again. This happened once more. As the boat was making a third run the guy in the jon boat pulls out a shotgun and fires over their heads. Speed boat left and did not return. If I'm fishing a new lake I always try to be nice to the locals. You never know how much firepower they have.

Back when my dad was living, we went to a lake that him and his buddy fished often. On one trip a laydown that used to be in the water near the shore was up on the bank about half way out. I asked my dad about it and he said that a couple of days ago him and his friend had both lost lures in it. The laydown was not too far from the parking lot and when the bite slowed down, one of them got the idea to use the truck and drag the tree out of the water. They got their baits back and split the other snagged baits between them.

Either a shallow running crankbait or a 6" plastic worm.

I've noticed sometime when my plastics get too beat up the fish stop biting them. I change them out when the bite starts to drop off.

Deep diving crankbaits. I never had any luck with them years ago, and I haven't fished with one since I got back into fishing.

I'm going to play the odds and say a 3/8 black and blue jig with a craw trailer.

Eagle claw 2/0 bait holder hooks. I've been using those for years.

Last year all of my trips totaled 41 days. Some of those trips were a couple of hours long, and some of those trips were over a weekend.

I don't think I have ever used a rod for just one technique. One reason I use snaps.

Being sick a couple of weeks ago I was able to watch a lot of tournament videos. These were on the local level and just not bass tournaments either. The one thing I kept noticing was that it wasn't technology that helped the winner, it was knowing the water, and knowing how to fish the conditions.

A few months back Chris Zaldain posted a video from BPS showing the tank. Most of the bass were in a school near the surface, but one was sitting on the bottom near some rocks. He said that when the bass school up they are in hunt mode but the one on the bottom was not ready to feed, and that's probably why it was by itself.

Sorry for your loss. It's hard losing a family member.
