  1. I used to use a clinch, now I tie everything on with a palomar knot.
  2. I forgot to mention to hold your rod tip up high and start cranking as soon as the bait hits the water.
  3. You need either a fast retrieve reel, or a smaller lipless bait. If the weeds are around 4 to 5 feet below the surface then I'll use a 1/2 ounce size rat-l-trap. If the weeds are just under the surface to about 1 foot deep I'll switch over to a fast reel with a quarter ounce rat-l-trap.
  4. learn drop shot. work on my flippin and pitchin. organize my baits better. I don't know how many of these I will accomplish, since my wife has some different goals lined up for me.
  5. Years ago I had a pair of grey polarized lenses that worked pretty good, but I don't remember who they were made by. Now I have a pair of eyeglasses that turn dark in the sunlight.
  6. I'd probably go after one of those novelty lures, like the old Heddon Big Bud.
  7. I tried this back in Dec. I was probably doing something wrong, but it was a real pain trying to get the hook through the eyelet of the sinker. I normally t-rig my tubes but next time out I am going to try the weight inserted into the tube.
  8. Here is a link to the new Missouri record. It was caught on a minnow on a private lake. http://www.outdoorcentral.com/mc/pr/06/05/08a4a2.asp
  9. The dinks I lift up with the rod. Anything of any size I lip.
  10. I'll throw a 1/2 spinner near cover or into it if I think I can get it out without hanging up. I let it sink down to the bottom and then slow roll it back up with a twitch now and then. Most of the time I will throw white or Chart color spinner.
  11. Welcome to the BR forum.
  12. I'm with you. I have two of the rods, but I'll stick to Shimano or Abu-Garcia for reels.
  13. Excellent Post. A lot of good info in here.
  14. Pop-R, Tiny Torpedo, and Zara Spook.
  15. grape or black grape.
  16. My Dad and I went out today for about 5-1/2 hours. 1st time out this year for me while Dads already been out 20-30 times. We fished off the bank and got eight largemouth. Two on Zoom Ultravibes, three on tubes, and three on crankbaits. Dad ended up with the biggest one, around 3-1/4 pounds. IWe had a good time, but it was nice to get back home again out of the cold. Temp was about 45 and with the wind chill, the temp was probably in the high 30's.
  17. I would go to their website and take a look around in the FAQ or help section. They may have something already posted about how to fix it.
  18. Now I know how to catch the dog that has been leaving presents in my yard ;D.
  19. Flat side up.
  20. I really started using them myself, last year. First thing I can tell you is go to the home page of this website and do a search for jigs. Then read everything. In the lakes I fish the bite will either come when it is sinking to the bottom or when I drag it back in like a plastic worm. I try to match the trailer to one of the colors in the skirt.
  21. Rat-L-Traps and 1/2 ounce spinner baits will be my main search baits this year.
  22. I trim the guard down so that it sticks up a little past the hook point. I also trim the skirt so that it is even with no pieces sticking out longer than the rest. If you are using a plastic chunk, you might try taking a sharp knife and cutting the ends of the chunk in half, so that it has more action.
  23. I have used Yo-Zuri 10# on spinning tackle in the past with no problem, as long I get the line on the reel tight. The problem is that no store around me, including BPS, and Wal-mart, carry it anymore. I am waiting for the Cabela's to open up sometime in April.
  24. I will either change lakes or change what I am fishing for. If those bass don't want their picture taken with me its their problem.
