  1. I started out with crankbaits, just cast them out and bring them back in. When I started fishing jigs, I had no problem working them slow and dead sticking them at times. Plastics took me a little longer than jigs. For some reason I just couldn't bring them in slow, I always wanted to crank them.
  2. I lost interest for about 7 years, and then gradually got back into it. IMO, its like everything else, if you don't find a pace you like, you'll burn yourself out on it.
  3. Went out Saturday morning to some small ponds around the area. Got out there around 5:45 AM and didn't get a bite until about 9:30. I pulled out a small dink that wasn't hooked - he was just hanging on to the plastic worm. He dropped off and fell down into the rocks. After I dug him out I put him along side of the Zoom finesse worm I was using. This bass was the same length as the plastic worm, which is about 4-1/2 inches long. I'm pretty sure that this one was the smallest LM I have ever caught on a artificial bait.
  4. When you do odd jobs at your in laws house to get more spending money to buy more baits with.
  5. I like snaps for hard baits and a palomar knot for plastics, jigs, and spinners.
  6. A Johnson Century Spincast reel on a green 5 foot rod that was as limber as a wet noodle. I still have both the rod and reel.
  7. Is that all? Jeez, you got off easy.
  8. Good job!! There ain't nothing like catching them on a jig.
  9. Its finally starting to cool down here, but we are about 10" below normal on the rainfall.
  10. A memory of a lunker will stay with you forever, but alot of dinks get mixed all together.
  11. I didn't weigh it, but it looked like about 1-1/2 to 2 pounds.
  12. When we bought our house, my wife dragged me to all of the stores looking for furniture, drapes, etc. Now I can't stand to shop in crowded stores. When I go to buy fishing gear I am in and out usually within a half an hour and i only go during the week when there are no crowds.
  13. Went out on Saturday Morning to a little catfish pond. I have been fishing these lately since they don't get hit for bass like some of the lakes do this time of year. It was overcast all morning then it started to rain around 10 AM. Temp was in the 50's and 60's all day. Ended up catching eight dinks and one channel cat on minus-1's, rat-l-traps, and plastic worms. The largest went about a pound. All in all it was a pretty good day.
  14. Check out Carsurvey.org and Edmunds.com. They have some really good customer review sites.
  15. Around timber I like to run them just fast enough to get the rattle working. Across the tops of weeds I use a moderate to fast retrieve. In deep water I let her sink down to the bottom.
  16. Has anyone seen this? Looks Veeerrrry interesting http://www.tackletour.com/reviewabugarciapreview08.html
  17. Yes you have the right to be mad. I'd say you have 2 choices if the school administration can't or won't take action. Take your tools back home or get a stronger lock if you are going to leave them at school. Since alot of schools across the country are taking a stand on school violence punching out somebody is more likely to get you in trouble than the other person.
  18. I was at work. At the time my office was right next to Lambert Airport. When the first plane hit, the boss told us about it and everyone got on the web to see what was going on and slowed down the servers. I called my parents to see what was going on and I was talking to my dad when the second plane hit. It was a eerie feeling going outside at lunch and hearing the airport that quiet. I hope I never hear it that quiet again.
  19. No stores around me sell Yo-Zuri except online. I have been using Big Game this year with pretty good results.
  20. Big-O Strike King Square A
  21. Thanks for the tips!!
  22. Glad your OK. Take it easy and get well.
  23. I like to t-rig them with a small weight. I'll throw them around weeds and work them just like a plastic worm or I'll drop them along side standing timber and let them fall like a jig.
  24. Crankbaits get snaps. Jigs, spinnerbaits, t-rigs, and c-rigs all get tied on.
